As a defenseman who has zero bias towards d-men, all my candidates are d-men:

1. Gregory Goode has led all d-men in the SMJHL this season raking up 47 points in 53 games. He also had the second most minutes in the league at 22:55 a night with 4.5 of them being on special teams. He averages over 3.5 minutes a night as the quarterback for the offense of the Anchorage Armada. He holds an impressive 59% CF. The one weakness in Goode's game throughout the season however has been his lack of physical play, with only 12 hits on the season. He does however end with the most goals, assists, and points at 16 and 39, along with ending a respectable +7.

2. Robert Feltersnatch on the other hand ends the season with a 12 goal 32 assist performance on 44 points in 54 games. He edges out his opponent above him in his more well rounded. He ended the season a whopping +26 withh an impressive 64.7 CF%. Feltersnatch was relied upon heavily as well by his team the Kelowna Nights, especially at even strength tallying 23:35 MPG. He also has a huge 97 hits.

3. Last, but certainly not least is Puddles O'Duck who has been a leader on the struggling Maine Timbers. With 6 goals, and 22 assists, his stats may not seem impressive; however he has ended +4 and with 94 blocks and 87 hits. With a rebuilding Maine team struggling a bit defensively this year, O'Duck has consistently been a rock on defense with over 20 minutes a night. Him and his partner Duncan the Walrus have also been leading the team throughout the season in CF%, regularly controlling the puck well in order to give his team opportunities.

As a newbie of this league, I really have no clue what could really qualify as "MVP material" and my following list will show that. Take this with a grain of salt- Hockey is cool, but Football>

1. Kermit Murphy - From the stats I see, man is a straight-up stud. With 25 goals and 50 points, he is a very efficient shooter, getting the puck in the goal almost once a game. He sports a +/- of 15, which shows his impact on the ice is very commanding with the help of his team.
2. Tokkulu Lakkamaa - Like Kermit, Lakkamaa is another stud who puts up points and helps his teammates out great. His positive +/- shows his impact on the ice and proves that he can also be a great shooter as well.
3. Cian McFelter - Stats don't lie, this guy also rocks. Tied with the most points with Lakkamaa, McFelter is maybe the best shooter and ice presence out there, as his 26 +/- proves such. This is why Kelowna is such a great team.

I think the winner of the league most valuable player should go to the players that earned tpe as well as try to do there best to play there hardest get as many points as well as play the best game. I think it could go to the person best exemplify the player that earned and can take there teams far in the playoffs I'm thinking that it could a odd pick but whatever the community decides I will back up. I'm not thinking I will win because my other teammates exceed my points and other things I think that nobody on the scarecrows will win I think that it is going to the best team in the shl. I think that anything is to happen though and am excited about who will earn this opportunity of being the best in the league good luck to everyone though because everyone can prove a case why they deserve it more than the next guy. I think that anyone is capable of winning most valuable player award because everyone tries their absolute best at everything they do and everyone wants that award.

"As my co-writer reminded me, I figured I should note that the process of voting on a junior's MVP was probably one of the toughest things I ever did in my time as a professional hockey player. Possibly because I was never good with picking specific players out of teams or that I saw myself as too much of a polite gentleman to deny such a thing from people. Still, I would say I had the honour of sharing my first season as a full-time player with some really good players. My vote for the qualifiers, come to think of it, featured Kermit Murphy of the Falcons, who I believe was leading the goalscoring tally at the time; Igor Petrov of the Quebec City team that I think was runner-up for that and Tokkulu Lakkamaa, who was one of the pieces of a mean spirited trio from the Anchorage Armada."

When looking into the SMJHL Most Valuable Player for the S59 season, their are easily a couple of names that Rise to the top. My current favorite leans on Kelowna Knights Cian McFelter, who is currently leading the league in points as well a top ten +/-. What separates McFelter from his teammates is how much he has carried his team so far this season. McFelter was been a force at both ends of the ice and we certainty expect that to carry into the playoffs. The other guys I look at would have to be the Trio in Anchorage. All three of these skaters in Tokkulu Lakkamaa, Cole Carter, and Pablo Salvatici have been scorching the earth as far as point production goes. The only reason that they are a step down for me compared to McFelter is that it is one guy versus an entire line. Either way it will be a toss up at the end of the season as all four guys have had tremendous seasons.

RE: S59 SMJHL PT #5 - Most valuable player - goilers - 05-13-2021

My top three picks for the S59 SMJHL MVP are based on points & here is they are:

1. Cian McFelter
Cian McFelter is a centre for the Kelowna Knights & is currently leading the league in points. He has 22 goals, 38 assists & averaging around 17:16 minutes on ice. Kelowna has been having a great season so far & I wouldn’t be surprised to see him named MVP.
2. Igor Petrov
Igor Petrov is a left wing super star on the Quebec City Citadelles. He currently has 24 goals, 31 assists & +18. He is averaging around 17:57 minutes per game & has been one of Quebec’s best players the entire season.
3. Tokkula Lakkamaa
Tokkula Lakkamaa is a right winger for the Anchorage Armada. He has 24 goals, 35 assists making his total of 59 points. He is +9 & averaging around 18:49 minutes per game. He has been having a great season & his line has been a force this season.

MVP What an honor it is to have your peers vote you as the most impactful player out there on the ice. While I will never get the chance to hold this title, some of the players that I mention now have a legitimate chance of winning it this year. My first pick would be Kermit Murphy who leads the league in goals, as of now he sits at 28, 3 above anyone else. With a total of 55 points in 60 games he has been a great offensive threat for the resurgent Detroit. The next pick would be Nike Kickz Jr., past the name alone he has done a fantastic job on both sides of the puck with a league leading +41 which is out this world stat. His stats aren’t the flashiest but he works hard and he gives his team a great chance to win every time he is on the ice. My final pick is the guy I’ve been learning of off, and that’s Vincent (BDE) Mietitore. The man, the myth, the Vincent, he whenever I’m not stealing games from him, has done some crazy things for Anaheim. While his win - losses stats look miserable, his save percentage (0.924) and GAA (2.68) have him at the top of the boards. He has had a dominant season and only shows that he is very capable of going to the next level. But while he is here, he might as well carry the Anaheim team.

Top MVP Candidates for the SMJHL:

1.) Falcons Kermit Murphy - I feel Murphy has had an insane season for the Falcons as is shown by his 28 goals on the season. 19 of those goals came at even strength, which is a good reason as to why Detroit is 2nd in the league.

2.) Whalers Nikolaj Boyle - Although on a relatively average Whalers team, Boyle has been one of the biggest reasons as to why the Whalers are not bottom dwelling in the league standings. He has managed 51 points on a Whalers team where the next closest point total is 39 points. Boyle is also a very strong defensive player with 104 blocks as a forward.

3.) Knights Roboute Gouilliman - Although not the most points in the league, Roboute Gouilliman is a strong contender for MVP due to how much he keeps the opposing team trapped in their own zone and reduces their ability to get shots on net. Gouilliman has an outstanding Corsi rating of 70.6(!) which is top in the league. Gouilliman also nets an average of +25.9 shots more than his opponents per 60 minutes, which is unfathomable.

Kermit Muprhy is this year’s undisputed MVP.  It is hard to imagine where his team, the Detroit Falcons, would be without him.  He leads the Falcons in shots on goal, goals, and points.  He is a driver of play and he parties as hard as he works.  He is an absolute physical monster, fast, agile, always on balance, the complete package.  The Micky Mantle of hockey baby, he’s been clapping bombs and shagging moms all season.  He has already written that acceptance speech for when he wins the coveted MVP award.  He is saving a spot for the hardware on his already decorated trophy case.  He will put the MVP trophy right next to his brand new S59 cup champion trophy that the Falcons are bringing home this year.  Kermit will be bringing home more than just bacon for his Ms. Piggy, that is a fact.  What’s he eating out of that Cup? I think we all know it will be a meal of victory.

As someone who is in their first season, these kind of PTs are super hard for me to write. I have no clue what is MVP material here or what is important to get MVP so all I can do is look at the index and check who has some interesting stats.

Right of the bat i see Cian McFelter, Center for the Kelowna Knights. He has 63 Points and a +/- of 30. Which is (compared to my player) pretty insane. He has 61 Games played and shot 23 goals while scoring 40 assists.
Another one who looks really good is Nike Kickz Jr. he doesn't have that many points, "only" 46 but he has the best +/- by far with 44. 2nd highest being 38. With 18 Goals and 28 Assists he also has some nice stats overall.
Kermir Murphy who was named often here in this thread has 28 Goals and 27 Assists. He has the most goals at the moment and with 55 Points and a +/- of 16 he is also one i could see winning MVP.

I think if we are looking at League MVP, we have to be looking at a couple of members of the Anchorage Armada in the running for sure.

Pablo Salvatici has had an INSANE season, with 22 goals and 44 assists through 63 games. Crazy numbers absolutely. Even crazier is that Cole Carter (also from the Armada) has had the exact same amount of points, assists, and goals. It really is a testament to the strength of the Armada coaching staff that this has happened and that the Armada have 2 MVP calibre players in their lineup. Cole Carter edges out Salvatici for me in that he has had slightly less time on ice (minus one minute) compared to Salvatici, accomplishing the same amount in slightly less ice time.

Someone not on the Armada so you can't tell me that I'm a homer would be Cian McFelter from the Kelowna Knights, who has looked super solid this season, also ringing in at 66 points thus far into the season. He has less power play points than both Carter and Salvatici, which makes him a good pick for the MVP as well in my eyes.

196.

There are plenty of top candidates for MVP throughout the league this season, with plenty of forwards stacking up points and goalies shutting the door with 50+ save shut outs. One player who has been vastly underrated in his entire junior career, who is now a part of a select few goalies with 100+ career SMJHL victories, the one and only Yanno Rosejac. Rosejac is one of if not the most well rounded goaltender in the SMJHL both attribute and stat wise. With at least 14 across the board in most important goalie attributes, including elite reflexes at 16, Yanno translates his abilities to proficient stats on the ice. He ranks 4th with 28 wins, 6th in GAA 2.75, and truly shows his elite consistency ranking 2nd in the league in both shots against 1639, but also save % .912 (all rankings are for goalies who have played at least 40 games minimum) His illustrious SMJHL career comes to a close after these playoffs, and he hopes to walk into the sunset as a champion.
