It takes into account shots for and shots against. Shots for is a way to contextualize shots against and is a measure of possession, which involves both offense and defense. However, in what I posted, I set the bar quite low - 50%. Meaning any player whose team faced more shots against that shots for while said player was on the ice was eliminated.

What if they just have an abysmal offense?

I just checked for you and by removing the CF% qualifier completely, we add only two new dmen into the fold - Buck Maverick and Barrett McCarthy. So 12 instead of 10.

No, I mean. Is there a way in which we can check how few shots attempted against your team when you are on the ice compared to when you aren't? What's the metric for that?

I was moreso sarcastically asking how he got nominated if advanced stats of every defensive metric say he's not even top 10.
