When the wolfpack became the mayors of the city will full rights to redesign the surrounding area they immediately jumped on clearing space around their current playing space to dedicate to wildlife and a wolf preserve. While moving the parking lot to be further away they invested in shuttles to bring fans to the games so that they could showcase all the wolves. Some said that this was ridiculous as the property surrounding the area was prime locations for vendors of all kinds, but the wolfpack retorted that the increase in arena size to house the vendors last year more than makes up for making sure that nature got to reclaim some of its own. This is a plan for the long term in case the wolfpack every get moved out of the area and some other team in brought in. At least no one will be able to say that the wolves were not cool.

Quote:Written Task:  So where do you live while the season is actually going on? In a condo near the arena? Is your current team the place you've been for a long time? Do you have a permanent home there? Either way, what does it look like? What kind of living situation does your player prefer and why? If they've been traded or signed to a new team or moved from the SMJHL to the SHL at any point, talk about what the move was like! How did they go about choosing a new place to live? (150+ words)

Having only been in North America for one year, Luca has not found a permanent home yet. He has been staying in a team apartment building in St Louis for the time being, until a permanent arraignment can be made. Now that Luca has been drafted, he will be slowly starting to look for a home in Minnesota where he can be close to the arena. The St Louis apartment is a nice enough place to stay while in the Junior league. The place comes with all the amenities you would expect with the addition of team health coaches and trainers. The coaches and trainers teach you how to live a healthy lifestyle and how to prep on game day. The apartments are within walking distance of the arena as well as all sorts of parks. While this is a temporary home for Luca, I doubt he will forget the close knit relations he made with his fellow teammates living in the building together.

The best possible place to put an arena is in the middle of a heavy industrial district. Away fans will be deterred by noxious factory fumes, while home fans will call them part of the city's charm. You can arrange for a local steel mill to blow the shift change horn whenever your team scores. The towering steel walls and gas flares going off at all times will lend an evil atmosphere to the stadium, giving you wonderfully intimidating blimp videos of the stadium for games on national TV. It also helps ensure your home crowd is full of drunk blue collar workers, thereby making your building the single most hostile atmosphere in the league for any and all away teams. Let the cheap beer flow, and maximize the local character of the concessions to ensure the local fans have their favorites and the visitors have no idea what any of these food options are. No one gets to have fun in my arena but me.

The perfect hockey arena would be designed with the ultimate fan experience in mind. Accommodations could include hotels, vacation rentals, and even residential properties for those who want to live near the arena and attend multiple games. Attractions could include museums, art galleries, and other cultural institutions that would appeal to both hockey fans and non-fans alike. Restaurants should offer a variety of dining options, from casual to fine dining, and should feature local and regional cuisines. Stores in the area should sell hockey merchandise, as well as other items that appeal to tourists and locals. Homes in the area should be high-end and desirable, with easy access to the arena. Parks and green spaces should be incorporated into the design of the arena to give people a place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The arena itself should have state-of-the-art facilities, including comfortable seating, excellent sightlines, and high-quality audio and visual systems. The arena should also have a variety of amenities such as VIP areas, luxury suites, and premium seating options, as well as food and beverage options. The arena should also be easily accessible by public transportation, with ample parking and bike storage. Overall, the perfect hockey arena should be a destination in itself, providing an exciting and memorable experience for all who visit.

Ignacio Garza has embraced the rugged outdoor landscapes of Alaska since joining the Anchorage Armada, and spends his down time (when not at the rink or in the city with his teammates) in a log cabin high in the Northwestern mountains. There, he hones his strength with his exercises performed outdoors in the freezing temperatures of hockey season. The constant chopping of wood to fuel the home's warming fire is also an excellent workout routine. Naturally-occurring ponds, when properly frozen, give Garza his own mini skating rink to practice with speed and agility on.Garza is about a 30 minute cross-country ski ride from the nearest neighbour and settlement, so there are plenty of nights where he is away from his isolated home and crashing at a teammate's place (especially for back-to-back home games). The addition of the Yukon Malamutes turned out to be a boon for Garza, as he occasionally travelled by a combination of skiing and train travel when the Armada play the Malamutes in Whitehorse.

My home arena would be located in a city where there is warmer weather, as I believe it allows for more opportunity to make the arena more of an entertainment hub. The main arena would be partnered with a middle level restaurant and lounge which would allow fans to come out to the arena before the game, have a meal or a couple of drinks. There would also be a casino on premise that allows fans to hang out after the game, drinks, gambling etc. Within the arena district you would have another bar / lounge or two and 1 more restaurant on the fancier side for the fancy fans. Immediately outside of the arena you would have a huge viewing area, that projects the game onto the side of the arena for fans to watch. This creates a lively environment for fans at the game and catching the game from outside. I also think it is important that the arena has good public transport.

During the season Matthew Mayhem lives in an abandoned warehouse a few miles away from his teams home arena. Mayhem got used to living alone in a cabin in the woods during his minor league career in Maine, and found that he enjoyed living a solitary life when not on the ice. Not having access to the vast forests of Maine, Mayhem decided that an abandoned warehouse with no electricity or running water would be the next best thing during his time in New Orleans. The Mayhem is the only resident of the warehouse, in fact he does own the warehouse legally, but prefers to live in it as if he were squatting illegally. The warehouse is furnished with fake trees and camping furniture, and he's broken a number of the windows to provide natural lighting and fresh air. None of Mayhem's teammates have ever seen his home, and none ever will. While he enjoys the camaraderie of the locker room and being a part of the team, it's the time alone in his decrepit abandoned warehouse that Mayhem is most at peace.

The Anchorage Armada are looking to build a new arena complex in the middle of town and found a great chunk of land to develop. Alongside a fairly large collector road, the new Anchorage Entertainment District houses numerous bars/restaurants, and other entertainment facilities. Alongside this development, the Armada organization has bargained with the Anchorage government to develop a multi-use and multi-economic level housing development to the southwest.

Player Prompt:

Bobby always has a challenging debate about where he stays in the offseason, in his rookie year, he remained in Great Falls to try and learn more about the community and be a part of it for the whole year, but then the ensuing seasons he went back home to Louisville. Now, after a long rough season, he has a tough decision. He misses his home in Louisville, Kentucky, and seeing his friends and family, but in Bobby’s mind he has three choices. He can stay in Great Falls as the new team captain and set an example for the team to follow, he can head back home and take a breather from hockey 24/7 back in his home state of Kentucky, or he could take the trek up and over to Hamilton, Ontario, to scout out the city he will be playing for next season, and get used to the Canadian side of things. I think Bobby would stay in Great Falls since this is his last season on the team, he has to absorb everything, because he won’t be a Grizzly again, he’s got to make it count!

Quote:I've asked about your players' hometowns and summer homes and all that stuff before, but I don't think I've ever asked about where you all stay during the actual season!

Tiberius Kane lives behind THE great falls in Great Falls. You know the falls? The ones that are great? There. Behind them, really. Being the leader of a semi-cult-but-definitely-huge-movement has it's perks and it's drawbacks. Sometimes those perks and drawbacks are married and this is one such case. Because Kane's alter hockey ego has not yet been discovered, he requires safety in great measures and secrecy in equal amounts. Like batman. And like Bruce Wayne, he has the funding to secure it. So he built himself a Nod cave. Only the top recruits from Nod get access, again because security is of the utmost importance. He even requisitioned some Tesla coils from an old friend. The cave itself is more of an entrance, Kane is not about upsetting the local fauna. Thankfully there's not much, so a small metal walkway doesn't impact much. In his home, Kane has his master bed room, which is of decent size. It fits a king sized bed and not much else. But that's fine, since he prefers to be enclosed and doesn't get too rowdy in there. A walk in closet and a personal bathroom are accessible. There's also a home theater, packed with rare 88s (is that a film term? who knows) and thousands of VHSs catalogued. For science, of course. Kane also attracts quite a few IT nerds, so he had them set up a server in the basement so he can stream anything anywhere in the house and also game where DP connections are available.
