- BasedMinkus - 01-03-2013 FIRST REVIEW OF 2013!!!! Jay-z & 9th Wonder present Black American Gangster Pray(for Me) – 4/5 American Dreamin – 5/5 Hello Brooklyn ft. Lil’ Wayne & The Stylistics – 5/5 No Hook ft. Curtis Mayfield – 4.5/5 Sweet ft. The Love Unlimited Orchestra – 4.5/5 Party Life ft. Kool & The Gang – 4.5/5 Ignorant Shit ft. Beanie Sigel – 3.5/5 Say Hello ft. Barry White & The Love Unlimited Orchestra – 4.5/5 Success ft. Nas – 5/5 Fallin’ - 4.5/5 Blue Magic ft. Curtis Mayfield – 4/5 - Only Song on this whole tape that is worse than the original cut. Black American Gangster – 4/5 Blue Magic Revisited ft. Gwen McCrae – 3.5/5 Total: 56/70 = 4/5 The Black Album Reasonable Doubt Blue Print Volume 2 American Gangster those were how I ranked my top 5 Jigga albums before I listened to this. American Gangster was an album built around the Motion picture of the same title staring Denzel Washington as infamous drug lord Frank Lucas. The original album was a lyrical masterpiece that ranks close up there with Reasonable Doubt. The biggest issue with that album was the beat selection was really bad and had an awkward feel to it that I felt did not match well with Jay-Z. Enter 9th wonder who re-did the production on this album to give it a more classic feel that 9th wonder said he envisioned. He tacked on vocals from greats like Barry White, Curtis Mayfield and The Stylistics, and the results is a great, great album with a real soulful feel while still retaining the edginess that came from the original album. Great album and an early nominee for top album. - UZI® - 01-03-2013 Not enough Vanilla Ice in this thread :( - Lazgreg - 01-04-2013 These are my favorite r&b/ rap albums of all time. 1.Late registration- kanye west 2. ready to die- Notirious B.i.g 3.
