OTT Double Traded Pick Appeal - Alaska - 10-08-2024
Good evening,
We have a received an appeal from Ottawa regarding their punishment for double trading a pick (link here). While we understand the budget sheet/pick tracker was incorrect (which both the budget team and SMJHL HO have received punishments for as well), it is ultimately the responsibility of GMs to keep track of their picks to prevent trading the same pick twice. We believe this has been a consistent precedent throughout the history of the league and did not see any information to believe that precedent was incorrect. Therefore we are denying Ottawa’s appeal and their punishment will stand as issued by SMJHL HO. Thank you

Beautiful, @GM's, make sure you remember to not put an ounce of trust in any of the officially provided tools as it can backfire in your face, especially when HO had a full day of knowledge that there was a mistake and did nothing about it.
The fact that the precedent is being raised without consideration for context is pretty dumb

Edit: except, yknow, we have an HO that cares, and far better infrastructure than we did 5 years ago.

ah, I see we're caught in the loop for a problem that keeps happening and are pointing back to past rulings for reference instead of making an adjustment. See you guys in 4 years for the next one.

Asking questions appears to be much too hard. I will say though, must be nice to live in a world that's either black or white, makes things simpler.
