Hello and welcome to my last address to the SHL as the IIHF Commissioner!

Big congratulations to Team USA for their gold medal, which is their first in 10 seasons, and included a quarter final upset against a very strong Team Sweden!

  Team Switzerland has a silver medal to add to their trophy case after a strong showing in the round robin!

  Lastly but not least - congratulations to Team Canada on their bronze medal!

At the end of every tournament the Federation Heads also choose the best forward, defenseman and goalie for the tournament. This time around, the winners are:

Best Forward: Jimmy Wagner, Team Sweden    - a tournament-leading 12 goals and 20 points, Jimmy Wagner dominated for Team Sweden and was a huge part of their power play prowess! 

Best Defenseman: Nicholas Owens, Team Japan - hit machine and leading all defencemen in points for the tournament.

Best Goalie: Jon St Ark, Team Sweden   - playing in a tandem with A Jobin, St Ark had a massive 6.32 GSAA and the second lowest GAA of 1.44 in the tournament. Both goalies were a huge part of Sweden’s dominance in the round robin.

Congratulations to the players for standing out in their roles during the tournament, and to the three medaling teams!

Thank you all for the last year for helping me make IIHF a more visible and fun part of the SHL! I am sad to have to leave this position as IIHF Commissioner but as real life is spooling back up, I wish to pass the position on to someone who is able to put more time into it than I can at this point.
