![]() Registered S33 Challenge Cup Champion Code: Word count: 4365 based on forum counter. Double Draft Media. Post 11:11 PM on 9/16 Something positive about each draft pick! Round 1 1. ![]() The 6’2” Russian center managed to score 10 goals and 8 assists while only playing 10:46 minutes per game for the Carolina Kraken. With more development and ice time, Kozloz is going to rack up the points. With this pick, Tampa Bay gets a great prospect and user in FlappyGiraffe. Very good start to the draft here. 2. ![]() Good pick from the Stars here. They drafted one of the best players and users available in the draft. The match may not have been perfect, but you cannot fault Toronto for seeking out this defenseman. The player ended up being moved, but might lead to a beautiful relationship between Burke and Toronto. Reaching out to JSS after the draft, we had a few questions for him. Did you think you would be going as high as 2nd overall? Jss: I did not think I would go 2nd overall until a day before the draft What is your favorite animal? Jss: A dog Alright, you have heard it from JSS. In all seriousness, after Flacko’s career, there is little doubt that Giannopoulos will not be just as good. 3. ![]() 14 goals and 18 assists as a rookie? Holy ‘Sota! Minnesota Monarchs get a stud of a prospect here. With a name as powerful as Rock Strongo, Minnesota would have been foolish to pass on Leafs4ever. Monarchs get a solid center that has demonstrated he can score as an SMJHL rookie. 4. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The first first-gen selected in the S56 draft is the 6’3 center that put up 15 points despite limited ice time (9:18 TOI). New England gets a highly motivated prospect that is toward the top of the class in tpe. According to Hobbes, the team was in contact with him for a long time, so it appears Hobbes was one of their guys from early on. 5. ![]() ![]() ![]() The second first-gen selected in the S56 draft! New England loaded up on the first-gen players by taking #55, the Irish center of the Nevada Battleborn. Grandmaster Funk was shocked at going this early, described himself as “over the moon.” A seemingly perfect match. 6. ![]() ![]() ![]() Tampa Bay made their second choice and selected the Vladmir Petrov out of Anchorage. One positive about this pick is locker room presence Muford can provide the Barracuda, just mention your favorite NBA team and watch him rip them about! In all seriousness, Tampa gains a prospect with good progression and decent production (8 goals and 10 assists). 7. ![]() San Francisco gains the 5’10 winger that put away 6 goals and 10 assists in the S55 SMJHL season. As a user, the Pride get creator of the franchise in JP. His reaction to going 7th overall was: “yeah babbbyyyyyyyyy.” If 10 y’s don’t express jubilance, then I don’t know what does. 8. ![]() The first Los Angeles pick in the #newera, this first-gen is a proven winner, picking up a Four Star Cup in his rookie season. Festinator is towards the top of his draft class in terms of TPE. The Panthers got a steal with this selection. With the #newera underway in Los Angeles, Kahnwald may be a big part of the picture for the new management of Los Angeles. 9. ![]() Winnipeg picks up Ukrainian defenseman Jasper Maximov. In his rookie season with Quebec City Citadelles, Maximov logged over 20 minutes of TOI per game. The user, enigmatic, is a long time SHLer with a hefty bank account allowing for equipment/training for seasons to come. 10. ![]() ![]() ![]() Great first gen player at this pick. Burke’s time in Hamilton may have been short, but this defenseman was the right choice for 10th overall. Play for Vancouver, she managed 4 goals, 9 assists, and had 36 hits! Toronto fans will grow to love Burke as the seasons go by. Sarah Burke demonstrated that she is worth just as much as the player that went 2nd overall. Very impressive out of a first gen player. 11. ![]() Texas picks up the recreate, ckroyal92, out of Anchorage. Petrov has good development, being over 350 tpe at the time of writing. A nice plus/minus at +8 and scored 4 goals, 14 assists for the Armada. Slava is the second of many Petrovs that will be drafted tonight. Will the 11th overall be the best one? Time will tell. 12. ![]() ![]() ![]() Tampa Bay picks up a first-gen, but ddrector is well known in the sim leagues. Another positive is that he bares resemblance to Andrei Svechnikov. It is fitting because Svechnikov played a role in knocking Ovechkin out of the playoffs in the first round where the Capitals failed to defend the Stanley Cup. In all seriousness, great first-gen player for the Barracuda here. 13. ![]() Dragons add Zoidberg III from the Nevada Battleborn. The user Jala is a well established re-create with a deep bank account. Zoidberg III played a lot of minutes for Nevada, racking up 22:10 TOI. 5 goals and 14 assists, nice numbers for a rookie in the SMJHL. 14. ![]() ![]() ![]() Teylora was the third Petrov to go off the board at this draft. This defenseman brings size at 6’5” and 255 lbs. Wolfpack have added a unit of a player, and the user Panda has been on the site for almost a decade. The third Petrov to be selected! 15. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The first entry draft selection in the Seattle Argonauts’ history, Dee Centerman IV is a great get toward the end of the first round. Grok has good development, with over 320 TPE at the moment with more to claim. Seattle gets off to a good start with their drafting. 16. ![]() ![]() ![]() Los Angeles brings in the Tongan, Vili Afalava. This player will be a quality defenseman, bet. Wasty has been with the Panthers for a really long time and is familiar with everyone on the team. This pick was smart as it helps make the Panthers’ veterans happy. This selection was the only one of the draft I was sure about, and one of the few correct mock predictions. Wasty being selected by another draft team would be an uneasy feeling. 17. ![]() ![]() ![]() Tampa Bay, with the second to last pick in the draft, gets the 2nd ranked by TPE (according to Player Analyze 2.0). That is a lot of value for pick 17. Weaver is the first goalie off the board. 18. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Seattle caps off the first round with the pride of Kosice, Slovakia. Zach is a good get for an expanding team, as he has a great reputation and is set financially. Not to mention his production for Quebec City, 6 goals and 15 assists while playing 14:28 minutes per game is not too shabby. Round 2 19. ![]() The Barracuda start the 2nd round off with a first-gen in Pythonic. Good development, this player could rise in the redraft rankings that will occur in the future. The impressive stat from Kauppinen is his 11.11% shooting percentage after putting away 8 goals on 72 shots. 20. ![]() ![]() ![]() Kamado is a big Italian defenseman, weighing in at 240 lbs. Andy is a recreate and was recruited by in part by JR’s sperm creation, so the Platoon is a fitting team. Tanjiro Kamado is one of the best player names of the draft. 21. ![]() ![]() ![]() iStegosauruz is a first-gen, but well known in the sim leagues. Dobrovsky played for the Scarecrows, and his production was decent for his 11:26 TOI. His Shooting Percentage, 9.30%, showcases his potential to increase his production with an increase in ice time. 22. ![]() Sakrosankt is a first-gen SHL player, but like many others is well known around other leagues. This defenseman has amazing vision and assisted 16 goals for Anchorage while scoring 6 himself, for 22 total points. He demonstrated that he can log the minutes with 20:08 TOI. Additionally, he goes into the history books as the first entry draft selection for the Atlanta Inferno. Excited about this pick, we reached out to Sakrosankt to ask a few questions Did you think you would get drafted as high as 22nd overall? I thought I'll go around this, I had slight hopes to go in the first rounds, but I'm glad I got drafted to Atlanta in the 2nd in the end. What’s your favorite animal Jaguar There you have the important questions covered. I am excited to play with Withecheck one day. Well, I have to say the Jaguar response was more impressive than the first time this question was asked (though dog is a noble response) 23. ![]() Seattle gets another first-gen player with Vaseline Podcalzone. Despite playing a limited role, Podcalzone managed to have a positive Plus/Minus at +2 and few PIM at 6. 24. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Baltimore adds the first-gen, Zebulon Leavitt. This player brings some eagerness to the Platoon. At his contract signing, the prospect declared “Looking forward to a long and storied career with the team!” 25. ![]() San Francisco, welcome to the danger zone! This first-gen winger brings some size with his 6’4, 225 lb frame. He played a pretty balanced game with 9 goals and 13 assists in his 50 games with Nevada. 26. ![]() Panthers continued making great draft picks after picking Canes2112. Grape Fruit, the forward for Carolina, had 19 points (6 goals and 13 assists). 27. ![]() ![]() ![]() 22 points in 50 games, and 14 of them were assists. Vermette has excellent playmaking ability. Treant has been around for years and has a good bank account allowing for Vermette’s player development for seasons to come. 28. ![]() The only positive here is that with Forfeit, you know what you are getting. 29. ![]() From the Anchorage Armada, Lemo Pihl finds himself headed to Texas. The Estonian had a limited role, but managed to dish out 41 hits. In his post-draft media scrum, Lemo Pihl stated “Overall I was really happy with the result, both the draft spot and the destination!” With the player happy, this fit seems perfect. 30. ![]() Chicago selects the first-gen goaltender, Mat Smith form the Quebec City Citadelles! The young Brit played 1273 minutes in his first season and recorded a 0.905 save percentage. In his media scrum following the draft, Smith talked about the bright future in Chicago and stated: “I'm feeling really good about being taken by the Syndicate.” 31. ![]() Calgary drafted the Swiss winger, Thomas Rose! Rose has a balanced game with 8 goals and 10 assists (18 points) with an impressive 13.79% shooting percentage. Bigbluex02 is a first-gen player, providing some new blood to this storied franchise. Rose was all too excited when signing his contract, exclaiming “Ecstatic to be a Dragon and join such an illustrious organization!” 32. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Monarchs pick up re-create Kynwyl Pearce. Shmurph has been around the league for a while and gives Minnesota a solid Right Wing prospect for the pipeline. While playing a balanced game (9 goals and 11 assists), his shooting percentage was 16.36%. Pearce’s playing time was only 12:16 per game, with an elevated role, his production could rise greatly. 33. ![]() ![]() ![]() Walter Burke only played 41 games this season, but still managed to have an 11 point season with 9 assists. With a full season and continued development, Burke could really put up some numbers for Anaheim. 34. ![]() ![]() ![]() Panthers pick up GCool, a member who has been around the SHL for half a decade. “Long” John Donair manged to put up 24 points for Anaheim, while playing 15:33 minute per game. This was a solid pick for Los Angeles toward the end of the 2nd round. 35. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Pride said “show me the money” with this selection. Patrik Money, the Kelowna Knights left winger, managed to put up 5 goals and 8 assists (18 points) while playing less than 9 minutes per game. His stat line shows he makes the most out of his opportunities. 36. ![]() ![]() ![]() Do you hear that? It’s the shit winds. LimJahey is a first-gen, and Boris Petrov is a big ol’ hoss at 6’5 and 290 lbs. The man had one thing on his mind, hitting everything in site (326 hits). When he wasn’t hitting folks, he managed 3 goals and 10 assists. His PIM were 211. Hopefully, this player stays down in the SMJHL as long as possible because I don’t want Elijah Jones to be on the same ice as him. Round 3 37. ![]() ![]() ![]() Calgary Dragons pick up Logan Wong. Wongy got a little behind on the season, playing only 21 points, but has been around long enough to warrant being the first pick of the 3rd round. 38. ![]() Kimanje is a player with a lot of stamina, we’re talking 14. This translates to his high ice time, 18:02 minutes per game. 39. ![]() Monarchs pick up the re-create, Anna Maier. The Detroit defenseman logged 15:52 TOI, not too bad. 40. ![]() What a name! At 40th overall, Atlanta gets the Japanese Right Wing, Sugimoto! When signing his contract, Kenji Sugimoto remarked: “Go Atlanta!” Indeed, Go Atlanta! 41. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Slovenian center, Jst Maro is a first-gen player that managed 5 goals and 12 assists (17 points) in his 50 games for the Quebec City Citadelles. Outside of that solid production, Maro brings some solid size at 6’3 and 230 lbs. 42. ![]() ![]() ![]() Daedalus James is first-gen player coming over from Hockey Dynasty. The center’s production wasn’t spectacular, but his role was somewhat limited at 8:49 TOI. Despite that, James showed he can be a physical player with 60 hits. 43. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edmonton adds the big, 6’4 225 lb defenseman, Bane. Winter is Coming has been around a long time and has an impressive $127 million in the bank. Great pick in the middle of the 3rd round. Bane is one of those names that just spooks out the opponents. Nobody wants to play against Bane, it totally gets into their heads. 44. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() With 12:56 TOI, Salming managed 6 goals and 12 assists (18 points) for the Quebec City Citadelles. His shooting percentage was 10.91%, which is not too shabby. Salming is a first-gen player, adding to Seattle’s youth. 45. ![]() ![]() ![]() Wolfpack add another Petrov with this pick. To12143 is well known among the leagues. Mikhael has a solid bank account for a player this deep in the draft. Petrov had a +8 Plus/Minus, and 2 goals, 9 assists (11 points). His shooting percentage was low at 2.86%. If he can manage to get a few more bombs from the blue line in, his production will go up a lot. The 4th Petrov selected! 46. ![]() ![]() ![]() Kevens is a first-gen player, with a tall, albeit lanky body at 6’3 and 179 lbs. Still, Kevens is a solid playmaker, recording 11 assists in addition to his 3 goals for the Quebec City Cittadelles. 47. ![]() ![]() ![]() Buffalo got a unit with the 6’8 and 225 lb goalie. This goaltender takes up a lot of real estate in the net. Ragnar first joined the site over 7 years ago in 2013. 48. ![]() Reportedly, Bud Weiser’s reaction was: “WHAT THE FUCK, FUCK CHICAGO. FUCK THAT SECOND CLASS CITY.” But eventually, he warmed up to the idea of Chicago and vowed to have a long career. Regarding his stats, he posted an impressive 18:56 TOI for the St. Louis Scarecrows. At least St. Louis to Chicago is not that bad of a trip if you have to drive it because you are too drunk to get onto the airplane. I wonder what the Bud Knight thinks. 49. ![]() ![]() ![]() Wolfpack get gordieboom late in the draft. Ayers is a re-create with a massive nearly $100 million bank account. Adrian Ayers played in 48 games for the Carolina Kraken, and managed 3 goals, 12 assists (15 points) while playing 12:31 TOI. 50. ![]() ![]() ![]() Panthers pick up a first-gen goalie from the Carolina Kraken. With a 1.99 Goals Against Average and a 0.913 save percentage, Ragnar put up an impressive 11-2 record. Amazing selection by the Panthers toward the end of round 3. 51. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Panthers stayed at the podium to select Caspari. Jonas only managed 2 goals, but he also only had 13 shots on goal, resulting in an impressive 15.38% shooting percentage. With an increased role, watch for Caspari’s production to double or triple. 52. ![]() Edmonton picks up the recreating AndrewWarren13. Rikki Petrov had good production for Vancouver, with 4 goals and 13 assists (17 points). This kind of production is in the same area of players selected 30 or so picks before. 53. ![]() ![]() ![]() San Francisco selects the recreating Raivo Helminem. This center has some great scoring potential with 13 goals on 50 shots for a nice 26.00% shooting percentage. 54. ![]() With the last pick of the 3rd round, Eero Makinen Jr. is heading to Buffalo. This recreate resembles Teuvo Teravainen which is all the positivity that needs to be noted. In his firs tseason with Colorado, Makinen Jr produced 9 points with his limited role (7:41 TOI). Round 4 55. ![]() ![]() ![]() Vertigo did not see much ice time, but made the most of it with a 5-1 record for the Kelowna Knights. Chicago adds damienj10 who has been around the league for plenty of years. 56. ![]() The Stars got their guys and called it a night. 57. ![]() The Monarchs got their guys and called it a night. 58. ![]() Things get flippy in Atlanta with the selection of Zach Dolphin. Dolphin is a first-gen player from the Colorado. Dolphin is a playmaking center, demonstrated by his 7 assists and 0 goals during his 50 games with Colorado. His stats are not too much of a concern as he received limited minutes in his rookie season (6:08 TOI). How does a Dolphin fare in an Inferno? We’re going to find out. 59. ![]() Monkey Mann Jr. is a first-gen player out of Oslo, Norway. Seattle gains a right winger that had an impressive 15.00% shooting percentage in his 48 games for Detroit. 60. ![]() ![]() ![]() Tampa Bay picks up another re-create known around the leagues. Supernaw had an impressive save percentage at 0.914 for the Nevada Battleborn. The Tampa Bay crowd will one day chant “Super…Naw” loudly and proudly. 61. ![]() In his games for Detroit, Aalto posted an even 5-5-2 record for the Detroit Falcons. Pride get a good re-create with drodger91 who has been around the league for coming up on 8 years. Drodger91 has plenty of money in the bank ($32 million). Aalto could be a late steal by the Pride if he develops as expected. 62. ![]() ![]() ![]() See pick 56 63. ![]() The Winnipeg Jets got their guys and called it a night. 64. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Los Angeles Panthers got their guys and called it a night. 65. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some scouting might say that Iqbal lacks size, but the Czech winger managed 3 goals and 7 assists (10 points) with a limited role (8:29 TOI). Hamilton finds value late in the draft. 66. ![]() The Chicago Syndicate got their guys and called it a night. 67. ![]() The Calgary Dragons got their guys and called it a night. 68. ![]() ![]() ![]() See pick 56. 69. ![]() ![]() ![]() Nice 70. ![]() Hopscotch is a first-gen player drafted out of Vancouver. The winger had a very impressive shooting percentage at 17.65%. His role was limited this season, with just 8:02 minutes per game over 30 games. If his role is increased and he manages to suit up for 50 games, while maintaining his shooting percentage, Hopscotch could lead the SMJHL in scoring. Good addition for Edmonton at this point in the draft. 71. ![]() ![]() ![]() Tampa Bay got their guys and called it a night. 72. ![]() ![]() ![]() San Francisco got their guys and called it a night. Round 5 73. ![]() ![]() ![]() Hamilton got their guys and called it a night. 74. ![]() See pick 56. 75. ![]() See pick 57. 76. ![]() After all the passing, Atlanta: It’s all Good, man. Max Goodman is a first-gen from the Quebec City Citadelles. He was once rated the 7th best prospect in the “S56 SMJHL Mid-Season Prospect Ranking.” If Goodman returns to activity, this will be an amazing pick for the Inferno at this stage of the draft. 77. ![]() Seattle was not done with the draft either! They technically adds a re-create with Yuuto Kira Cloudera Jr. (though basically a first-gen). Cloudera Jr. is a workhorse, playing 20:18 minutes per game for the Quebec City Citadelles. Additionally, Yuuto had 66 hits., 5 goals and 10 assists (15 points). 78. ![]() Baltimore Platoon adds the re-create Jimmy Dekens. The player is known for his positioning skill, being able to be in the right place at the right time is key! 79. ![]() See pick 72. 80. ![]() See pick 64. 81. ![]() See pick 63. 82. ![]() The New England Wolfpack got their guys and called it a night. 83. ![]() Texas got their guys and called it a night. 84. ![]() See pick 66. 85. ![]() See pick 67. 86. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Seattle Argonauts in their first ever SHL entry draft got their guys and called it a night. 87. ![]() See pick 73. 88. ![]() Edmonton adds the re-create defenseman, Karl Schafelberger who managed 49 hits during his 50 games with Anaheim. That’s nearly a hit per game. Edmonton Blizzard were able to find some quality in the late rounds, good scouting by the Blizz head office. 89. ![]() Xavier Doom, what a powerful name! How Doom managed to slip all the way to pick 89 is anyone’s guess, but New Orleans’ management look really smart now. Joe has a great bank account and is now on his second player. Xavier Doom will likely have a lengthy and decorated career. 90. ![]() Buffalo picks up the re-create winger, Halldor Ragnarsson. Production was low in Anchorage, but so were PIMs with only 2. Well-disciplined player here to close out the 5th round. Round 6 96: ![]() Johansson is the first player selected in the 6th round (only player actually). Lucas Johansson will likely be one of the top players in this draft class after the dust settles. JR has plenty of money in the bank to buy equipment/training for Johannsson’s development. Expect big things from #93 who managed 2 goals and 9 assists (11 points) for the Maine Timber. “Mr. Irrelevant” will be an ironic title once all is said and done for Johansson.
