S59 Colorado Raptors Captains

The S59 Colorado Raptors will see the majority of the roster returning. Only losing 2 rostered players (Josh Dolphin called up to Atlanta and Terrence Smith to age out). This provides a  great outlook for the Raptors this season and sets their sights on the 4 Star Cup. The Raptors success starts with the leadership on the team. Colorado has always been fortunate to have some great leaders on the team, and this season is no different. This is the first year since I believe S52 that the Raptors will have 2 returning Captains to the team, a great sign of things to come this season.

The Alternate Captains
2nd Alternate Captain
Angus McFife XVIII (@micool132)
Our 2nd Alternate is a new face and has made quite the impression to fellow teammates in the locker room and on the ice in one short season. With a constant flow of memes and a positive outlook, Angus McFife (XVIII got to put that) is a refreshing voice in the locker room. His energy is contagious and I always look forward to "We gonna win the Cup" from him. The Raptors are looking to have a big year out of the 2nd year defender both on the ice and as a leader.

1st Alternate Captain
Noel Blanchet (@JT3)
Our returning 1st Alternate Captain is Noel Blanchet. Blanchet has done everything right in his 2 seasons so far. The ultimate team guy, Blanchet has a wealth of knowledge that he is always willing to share. One of the top earners in his class, Blanchet also walks the walk. The 3rd year centerman will be stepping up to fill the hole after offensive guru, Josh Dolphin, has been called up. The Raptors have all the confidence in Blanchet and so do his teammates.

The Captain
Ruggs McOoooh (@Ruggsy)
The Captain returns! Ruggs McOoooh is the Raptors leader and has shown it day in and day out. Even though McOoooh did not have the statistical year that he had hope for on the ice, he still lead the team. Ruggs McOoooh is all over the SHL, taking up job after job. The true definition of leading by example. There are not many guys if any that could do the job that Ruggs has done. Colorado has been extremely lucky and proud to have Ruggs McOoooh as their Captain again. We know the team is in great hands.

Congrats to the S59 Colorado Raptors leadership group. We look forward to a great season. LET’S GO DINO GANG!!

S58 Colorado Raptors Awards
The Troy McClure III Troyphy - Awarded to the player that best exemplifies team leadership
Winner - Ruggs McOoooh (@Ruggsy)
If you want to see why see the above. But Ruggs McOoooh is a leader every step of the way. McOoooh stepped his game up when it matter most, and he was vital in the Raptors playoff run which saw them take future 4 Star Champions to 7 games.

The Alexander Zajac Trophy - Awarded to the most dedicated player
Winner - Noel Blanchet (@JT3)
Noel Blanchet is as dedicated as they come. A site job as an updater which takes up a good bit of his time but is still a constant voice in the locker room. He is dedicated to helping and bettering the team. Blanchet is also dedicated to perfecting his craft looking to become the best player for the team. A true sign of a dedicated player/user to the team and league.

The Colton Hagan Trophy - Awarded to the top two-way forward
Winner - Eero Makinen Jr. (@mcgriddleluver)
I love that Eero Makinen Jr. has finally garnered the attention he deserves. But S58 for Makinen Jr. was a major step forward for the 4th year Raptor. Eero Makinen Jr. had such a great year that he was nominated for 2 awards, the Brandon Holmes Trophy and the Ron Bolt Trophy. He did win the Brandon Holmes Trophy for the Best Defensive Forward. So that shows how good he was defensively but Makinen Jr. also led the Raptors in goals (19). So a well-deserved win for Eero Makinen Jr.

The Bo Kane Trophy - Awarded to the top offensive forward
Winner - Josh Dolphin (@d0lph1nb0y)
The offensive specialist, Josh Dolphin, is a stat machine. He does it all. He scores, assists, wins face-offs, plays defense. Literally a force in all parts of the game. Dolphin was 2nd on the team in points (34), led the team in Power play points (17), and also won 59.6% of face-offs (2nd in league).  The offensive season that Josh Dolphin had for the Raptors was definitely one to remember.

The Kristoffer Ruud Trophy - Awarded to the top defenseman
Winner - Ren-Ekelemchi Shimizu-Okoli (@ProjectSaint)
Now moving over to the defensive side, RESO had a great season. He put up solid numbers on the offensive side as well. The Point Shooter tallied 23 points and was great a getting pucks on net (led team - 154 SOG). RESO played important roles on the Power play as well as the penalty kill, showcasing the versatility of the defenseman.

The Aleksandr Aleksandrov Trophy - Awarded to the top goaltender
Winner - Yanno Rosejac (@Demolish)
Yanno Rosejac wins this award easily. He started 58 games for the Colorado Raptors, winning 27 games and posting 5 shutouts. Rosejac faced a lot of shots this season (1898) and saved a good amount of them (1744). In doing so, he had a 2.66 GAA and a .919 save percentage. Amazing numbers against the barrage of shots faced. Yanno Rosejac also was nominated for the Cedric Robinson Trophy for league best goalie. Just another nod to the season Rosejac had.

The Cassius Darrow Trophy - Awarded to the most outstanding rookie
Winner - Fedor Sotakov (@DollaBill)
Fedor Sotakov had a great rookie campaign, and he showed why Colorado drafted him so high. He had 29 points and finished 4th in rookie scoring in the league. That mark was good for 6th in scoring on the Raptors. He showed flashes of his goal scoring capability (13 goals and 3 power play goals). The future his bright for Fedor Sotakov.

The Zinaida Titova Trophy - Awarded to the Seasonal MVP
Winner - Yanno Rosejac (@Demolish)
So view The Aleksandr Aleksandrov winner above. But more to it was that Yanno Rosejac was put in a tough spot this season. The Raptors played a more defensive approach this season, which led to more shots being generated by opposing teams. And the Raptors leaned on Rosejac every single game. And countless times he showed why the team could. Rosejac would fight off wave after wave of shots and opposing pressure, usually ending with the Raptors on top. I don't think there is another goalie in the league that could have done the job that Yanno did this season. The Raptors would not have been close to where they finished without him in net.

Scottey Crawfling Bowl - Awarded to the Playoff MVP
Winner - KEKW Kekkonen (@WannabeFinn)
Another rookie shining on the big stage. Colorado's rookies seem to like to play in the playoffs. KEKW Kekkonen led the Raptors with 4 goals and 5 assists for 9 points in 14 playoff games. A great playoff performance by KEKW Kekkonen.

Congrats to all the Season 58 Awards Winners!

First of all, congratz to my fellow raptors who won team awards, you deserve it. I am really glad to see Noel Blanchet and Rugsy McOoooh come back as our identified leaders as they deserve for the support and involvement they provided to us during the last season. It is with great honor that I join them, I am proud to be your 2nd assistant captain and I'll do my best to be up to the task.

Lets go Dino Crew, a great season looms ahead of us.
