This is something I've been thinking about with the All Star Game as well. Our committee members do try to be holistic, and having a one-player-per-team minimum means we can't just put the top 10 in goals/assists/points into the game, but the nature of the beast is that stats are the most visible element of any season, especially in retrospect.
As league awards are able to acknowledge far fewer players than the ASG, I think it makes sense to create more diversity among them. Personally, I always find it disappointing that the committee's MVP and the league-vote MVP have so much overlap, because both voting blocks are often just sorting by "most goals/points" and picking the top names. You're practically giving out three awards for the player with the most points (Karpotsov, Mexico, Khan).
As further support of at least creating a separate Best Winger award, we already set up different Milestones for centers and wingers, so there's a built in template for how to assess them differently. Honestly, I think the Milestones categories/thresholds is a potential foundation for slightly more complex evaluation of award nominees/winners and All Star participants.
This makes sense to me. If it happens, I think the league-voted MVP should be broken out into two awards; one for Best Center and one for Best Winger voted on by the league.

As a winger I would love this idea. But if we look to real life inspiration centers dominate the Hart Trophy, not quite to the degree our centers do, winning it 60% (an approximate percentage on a quick glance) of the time.

I think the results would essentially resemble luke's stats anyhow, further supporting a winger award as an interesting proposition.
Fair, I don't think it's even necessary to know. The data's pretty obviously skewed towards center and would be a good award to have.
