PGS S46 Game 153: Halifax vs Anaheim
|
![]() Moderators Yogurt Lord Welcome to game 153 of the 46th SMJHL season. The Raiders played against the Outlaws and looked to even out their 2-2-1 record against Anaheim. Anaheim had an easier job of padding their 3-1-1 record with Halifax. This was a decent scoring game with back and forth between the teams for the first half. Before we begin, lets take a quick look at the top lines: ![]() ![]() Troy Reynolds - LW | Matt Kholin - C | Tobias Viklund - RW Andrej Doskocil - D | Perry Morgan - D Mike McKorsy - G ![]() ![]() Collin Gibbles - LW | Kristers Dzelme - C | Hiro Fujikawa - RW Thomas Speardane - D | Osbert Whacker - D Mike Hunt - G 1st Period The first period consisted of an early goal by the Andrej Doskocil of the Raiders after some rebounded saves by Mike Hunt. The Raiders came out swinging this period with 3 times as many shots as the Outlaws, and it paid off as one of them connected. There were several penalties, but neither team could capitalize. The second period consisted of a major Outlaw comeback within the first half of the period. 2 power-play goals were scored in the first 5 minutes of the period by well-established scorers Jerry Mander and Collin Gibbles. Jimmy Slothface of Halifax betrayed his family lineage with his speed and scored between the Outlaw goals, but Osbert Whacker was able to score before the 9 minute mark to bring the Outlaws into the lead. There was some funky goal tending in the first 3 goals of the period (or should I say a lack thereof), but the goalies got back into their stride through most of the rest of the period. The Anaheim lead was also due to the 10 more shots they took than Halifax. Goal Recap: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 3rd Period
The third period started with an early Anaheim goal by Jerry Mander again, making his 3rd point of the night and bringing the Outlaws up to a 2-goal lead and causing a Halifax goalie change. A clutch Halifax goal by Esa Parmborg brought them within tying range, but Seemu Telanne was able to get the empty-net goal to secure the Outlaws lead and victory. The last goal also secured Osbert Whacker's 3 points of the night. It's interesting to note Mike Hunt's contribution to the final push for victory, defending against 10 more shots than Justin Willis. Goal Recap: ![]() ![]() ![]() Conclusion
In conclusion, Halifax came out with a swing and Anaheim took up the challenge with gusto. The second period power-play goals really gave Anaheim the momentum to take and keep their lead through the rest of the game. If Halifax was able to prevent a few more penalties, this could have gone another way. Jerry Mander and Osbert Whacker both contributed 3 points for Anaheim, earning them 2 of the 3 stars of the night. Three Stars: ![]() ![]() ![]() Final Score
