The 47th SHL Draft is coming up very soon. Players are arriving one by one in Hamilton, bringing along their friends and family and are getting ready for the draft. Nobody knows yet which team is going to draft them, but you can see the excitement in everyone's eyes. Of course one thing can't be missing and that's the media. What would be a draft without reporters and interviews?

Randolph Reporter here live from the S47 SHL Draft. It's great to be back. You might not have heard from me in a while, because...let's not go there. Here I am again bringing you the most exclusive interviews with the few players that they-- that were willing to talk to us. In fact there was only one so far, but that's not important right now, but get to the interview. I've had the chance to talk to one of the top goalies available in this draft, playing for the Lethbridge Lions in the SMJHL - Harry Carpet. We will talk not only about the draft, but also discuss his first SMJHL season and the WJC that is being played at the moment.
Randolph Reporter: Hi Harry, last time we talked was an entire season again, just after Lethbridge drafted you in the SMJHL. Before we start talking about the big event ahead of us, please tell us about your experiences in your rookie season.
HC: Oh, hi Randy, you again. The last season, let me think. That was so much to take in. So many things happened in such a short time and I've met so many new people. Where do I start? With my teammates. They were all very welcoming and by now I already feel very much at home in Lethbridge and can't wait to get back there. I knew I would start the season as a backup, but I played more games than I thought. That was great. It's fantastic to play alongside with Patrice Nadeau who's one of the best goalies in the SMJHL.
RR: So you were happy with the season?
HC: We exceeded our expectations. I'm not even sure if we had any - we didn't want to come last. I was personally happy with my season, but of course you can always do better. The start was a little rough, but I believe the last few games that I played, I did really well. I even recorded my first shutout, so I'm a little proud of that. The playoffs on the other hand could've gone better. We only won a single game, but that's still a huge improvement over last year.
RR: You're also part of the WJC Tournament and are playing for Team Finland. How is that going?
HC: It's a little bit stressful and chaotic right now. I just came from a game and I believe I'll have to go back right after the draft or probably even during? Who came up with that schedule? All I see is locker rooms, rinks and the inside of planes at the moment. Where are we again? What time is it?
RR: I was prepared for that. Here Harry, have another coffee and then let's talk about the tournament.
HC: Coffee? Coffee! Perfect! So far it's been tough for our team. I hope we can turn things around. At least we won against Canada already. I can't tell you more right now, but there have been some really difficult games.
RR: Do you see your team making the medal rounds?
HC: It's difficult to say at this stage. Since we didn't have such a good start, I'll take it game by game at the moment. There are no easy opponents. The other problem is that we, as a team, need to find chemistry. Most of us don't usually play together. That's all I can tell you right now. Ask me again tomorrow.
RR: Tomorrow is the big day as well. The draft. Are you nervous?
HC: No, that's probably just the coffee. Is this really the best you could find around here?
RR: Back to... the draft...
HC: Right. I'm very excited and I'm looking forward to it. My friends and family will be here and I'll get to meet new people again and see old friends.
RR: How has the draft preparation been for you? Have you talked to many teams?
HC: I haven't talked to all of them, no, but I've had several meetings and some were very interested in me. That's positive. Of course I'd be happy to be drafted by any team that sees potential in me and can offer me a spot on their roster. It's not too easy for goalies out there at the moment, especially since the draft class before ours had so many good goalies.
RR: Let's talk about your previous draft experience. You were drafted in round 5 in the S46 SMJHL draft. Do you think you will go earlier in this draft? Is this even something you think about?
HC: Absolutely, no doubt! When I saw two other goalies drafted before me, I told myself to work very hard to be the best goalie choice available in the SHL draft. The general consensus seems to be that goalies don't get drafted in the first round, but who knows. We'll find out soon enough. I can easily compete with the other players out there.
RR: What do you expect from the team that drafts you?
HC: Friendly people, good coaching and support and hopefully a good coffee machine. Give me the best coffee and you will get the best out of me. As simple as that. Luckily the Lions have learned that by now.
RR: Yes, that seems to be very important to you indeed. I believe that concludes this interview for now. I hope we'll get to talk to you after the draft as well, but we will have to find out whether they let us do that. Thank you for the interview and good luck tomorrow!
HC: Thank you and thanks for the coffee. It's so late already, I believe I have a plane to catch.
