Well, the entire pre-game playlist for Regina Elk games is simply the brat album by Charli XCX which was released during the season.
First of all, we start off with 360... this song just straight up gets you hyped right away. It brings the energy for sure, which is definitely what you need pregame to get hyped and ready to take on some tough opponents. Then next, we have Club classics. Now if you thought 360 was hype, then you haven't heard anything yet. This song is just straight up energy in music form. However, you have to avoid going too far and wanting to hit the club while listening to this song instead of going out to play a game of hockey. Next on the album is Sympathy is a knife. Now, after coming down from the extreme energy of Club classics, you would think this might bring the energy of the team down, but it really brings the energy too, just not in a super in-your-face / bass-heavy kind of way. The next hype songs on the album to play are Talk talk, Von dutch, and many more. [S78] #14 C | Jon Garfield [SMJHL] Regina Elk / Thunder Bay Walleye [SHL] Buffalo Stampede | Prospect [S58] #72 LD | Shion Okamoto [SMJHL] Newfoundland Berserkers | Former Captain | S60, S62 Four Star Cup [SHL] Chicago Syndicate | S64 Challenge Cup [IIHF] Team Japan | S60 Gold

Our 5 song pre-game playlist gets us hyped every time, we made sure to pick not just songs that everyone enjoyed, but songs with a meaning and songs with a good beat that get us excited to go out on the ice and get the victory. We even have specific lines in each song that we scream from each song when they come up on the playlist. The lyrics are as follows.
Boilermaker - Royal Blood - "Got the odds looking in my favour, Staring at the bottom of a boilermaker" Squaring Up - Sir Chloe - "Show me what you're made of cause I'm squaring up" Off in The Distance - Biting Elbows - "Off in the distance, Right in your face" A Lucid Dream - Fontaines D.C. - "And the main thing is that the rain changed direction before you were there" Colossus - IDLES - "I'm like Stone Cold Steve Austin, I put homophobes in coffins" We did pretty well this season with these songs so who knows if we'll keep the same playlist for next season or not. Yeah I have a phonk playlist just for the gang when it's my turn to plug the aux cord, or bluetooth when I can bring in my speakers. Phonk isn't liked by too many in the locker room because of its short-form 'mostly' instrumentals, so when it's my turn, everyone just sighs but they eventually get into the groove.
1. Luga - Get Down This beat is a top-tier banger. It has an ominous entry and just has this expansive aura when the beat drops. It pumps the adrenaline, no doubt, and some well-timed glitch beats and pauses makes the re-entry hit even harder. One of the team's faves when I play this one. 2. LOLA - EDAN Sweet breakbeat vibes all over this banger. Saturated synth leads and deep bass tones carry the flow with the rhythm right until the transposed swing style beat at the end of the track gets the team head bobbing unconsciously and wanting that beat to continue. 3. Neon Blade - MoonDeity Yeah, this is straight up final boss music. Funny enough, I played this one right before our rivalry night vs. Colorado and we won 8-7. It was a chaotic game and everyone was all over the place, I think this one may have had effect on some of us... 4. Glitch Krush - Kordhell Yeah, this more recent track got people a bit surprised to hear this overdriven track, but the interesting-ness of the details of the track gets the attention of the locker room quite easily because of the easy rhythm to follow. 5. Rocky Balboa - Psycho Playa, SH3TLVIZ This aggresive beat has an inspiring tone to it and while it isn't one of the team's favorite tracks, it doesn't get any backlash either. Some players just get that extra oof out of it I guess. 6. I'm So Fly - NEKXSTXZIS One of the happier, bouncier and appreciated tracks this playlist has to offer, most of the team appreciates this easy track to follow and bob their heads too. I do feel some relief from this track as the easy listen has a calming and grounding effect.

First song on the team's play list is Tweezer Reprise by Phish because it's hype as fuck and makes everyone really excited to get out there and do shit.
Second song on the playlist is The Great Went version of Bathtub Gin by Phish because frankly its gorgeous and amazing and makes everyone filled with life. Then we gotta go with the Amsterdam Stash from 1997. That shit is so strange and dark and I love it. It's got a really tense intro that releases so well and makes everyone excited to skate! The fourth song is probably going to be the 1995 Dayton Harry Hood because it makes you feel like you can do anything and before any hockey game you need to feel like you can do it. Even when you can't :( The last song we're going with is The Tahoe Tweezer by Phish because it's just one of the most brilliant pieces of musical improvisation ever done. It should give anyone inspiration that anything is possible. |
