Welcome to the first installment of our <time frame in which the author posts these> feature, Inside the Box, where we look at who uses their grit and determination to think inside the box.

Oh boy did we have some players who thought inside the box today. We had two trippings, a holding, two hookings, two high sticks, and even an unsportsmanlike conduct, so we have a lot to work with.

Out grittiest player of the game was Clint Eastwood. The old timer showed some old timey hockey with his chirping, which earned him an Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty. We all know he is no stranger to chirping.

Additional shootout to Mike Izzy, who also showed some grit when he took a holding penalty, continuing his grit from last.

Scarecrows #1 - Crossfit Jesus Scarecrows

What a game from Crossfit Jesus. It only took 16 seconds for the Crows to open the scoring and set the tone for the first period of this game. After receiving a nice outlet pass in the neutral zone by Hermanis Villy, CJ streaked through the neutral zone and sniped one past Sebastion Thompson of the Knights. The early lead gave the team confidence and allowed them to hop out to a quick 2 goal lead. Although the 2nd and 3rd periods did not have the same outcome and the game was pushed to a shootout, Jesus was called upon another time in the Shootout scoring the only goal in the tiebreaker to give the Scarecrows the W. Nice work Crossfit Jesus!

Knights #2 - Mike Izzy Knights

Izzy had a solid outing tonight and its unfortunate that it wasn't enough. After going down 2-0 in the first period, Izzy tallies 2 goals (one in the 2nd, one in the 3rd) to force a shootout in this game and ultimately give his team a chance to win. Izzy also was a participant in the shootout, but ended up missing the net.. I'm sure it was because his back was hurting from having the rest of the knights in his backpack. Tough one Mikey.

Knights #3 - Sebastian Thompson Knights

Thompson had a shaky start, but his solid play through the rest of the game deserves a few beers from his teammates after this one! Cheers After letting in 2 goals in the first 8 minutes of the game, Thompson shut the door saving 25 of the 27 total shots in the game. It is worth mentioning that the Knights were out shot 27-20 in this one, and although they lost, they cannot point the finger at Thompson. Sometimes your goalie's job is to steal games, and this is what Thompson tried to do. Better luck next time Sebs.

TheDangaZone's unsung hero of the Game!

TheDangaZone here with his weekly unsung hero of the game. With many good players going tonight the choice was tough but ultimately the unsung hero of the game goes to Crossfit Jesus. Crossfire was able to set the tone early scoring just 16 seconds into the game to help get the Scarecrows going. Crossfire was also able to contribute all over the stat sheet shooting 4 times good for tied 2nd best in the game and once again this season stayed out of the sin bin. Crossfit's discipline has to be some of the best in the league. Most importantly for the Scarecrows though, Crossfit was able to score the game winner in the shootout. While it doesn't count on the stat sheet I'm sure Crossfit will take the win every time.

Punching Bag Of The Game
Hermanis Villy

Hermanis Villy, Latvian defenseman for the St. Louis Scarecrows, had his pockets picked in this game more than a tourist with see through pockets in New York. Lit up and losing the puck SIX TIMES during this game earns Hermanis the distinction of Punching Bag Of The Game. Jake Sanders and Mercer Church were bullying the defenseman all night, racking up 4 hits and 4 turn overs off of poor Hermanis. He wanted to be interviewed, but while he wasn't looking, one of the Knights stole his voice.

Its Friday my dudes! That means, today's edition of Oneshot with Ollie we'll focus on bone crushing, head turning, butt clenching HITS!!!

First, we'll take a look at St. Louis' Roman Augustus absolutely demolishing Fedor Shirobokov resulting in a turn over:

[Image: MATT-HENDRICKS-huge-hit-hockey-hit-body-check-gifs.gif]

That wasn't even the biggest hit of the game, either. Clint Eastwood lays out Crossfit Jesus and makes him second guess his career has a hockey player:

[Image: ovechkin-check-on-hurricanes-player.gif]

However, Fletcher Carric lays possibly one of the largest hits of the season on Alexandre Lebeau:

[Image: bruins-body-check-breaks-glass-hockey-hi...k-gifs.gif]

I'll be the first to say I enjoy a heaving hitting game of hockey. But how some of these guys aren't in jail is beyond me! Anyways, this has been Oneshot with Ollie! See you next week gang!

Welcome to the DQ Blizzard of the Game, In tonight tilt between the Kelowna Knights and the St.Louis Scarecrows, the DQ Blizzard of the night goes to Mike Izzy who was selected 4th overall by trhe Edmonton Blizzard in the S35 SHL Entry Draft. In tonights game he certainly earned this honor by scoring two of the Kelowna Knights goals which helped tie the game and send the game to overtime and eventually a shootout! The Knights ended up losing, but Mike Izzy did everything in his power to bring the Knights a W. His first goal came at the 3 minute mark of the second period on the powerplay assisted by rookie Mercer Church. He then scored early in the third to tie the game at two assisted by WKP prospect John Langabeer. Whiel also having 2 hits and 4 shots on goal in a whopping 24 minutes of ice time! That deserves the DQ Blizzard of the Game!

TSN Turning Point

With the Scarecrows up 2 early in the 2nd, Seth Paige takes a minor tripping penalty just a minute in. After a flurry of shots, the Knights manage to get on the board with Mike Izzy scoring on the power play. Although Kelowna lost in shoot out, the game could have been a lot different if Seth Paige didn't take that penalty.

Physical Player of the Game

Mercer Church collected 4 hits in the Knight's shootout loss to the Scarecrows. What gets him this award is that every single hit he made resulted in a turnover. This sort of physical play generates offense, and it helped Church collect an assist in the 3-2 loss.

Welcome readers to our first edition of Gatorade Fuel's Workhorse of the Game, where we look past the big stats like goals and assists, and look at the more forgotten stats on the scoresheet that still made a difference. Despite only mustering 2 shots, Eddie Andrezjeck logged more minutes out of anyone on either team, earning this game's Gatorade Fuel Workhorse. Logging a final minutes total of 25:23, his brightest moments came on the special teams, both when the team had the man advantage AND when they were facing a 5on4 situation. During their PP, Andrezjeck was instrumental in keeping the puck in the offensive zone and setting up the first goal of the night for Kelowna, scored by Mike Izzy. On the flip side, his defensive work was astounding, with his 3:58 on the PK being instrumental to the Knights holding the Crows to 0/4 on the PP for the night. Congratulations Andrezjeck, and thank you for reading!

GLASS' WINDOWPANE

Most Invisible Player Of The Game

Today's Glass Windowpane of the game goes to Miervaldis Frīdrihs Ozoliņš! Ozoliņš played 18 minutes on Kelowna's third line as an offensive forward. Although he has a name so long it literally overflows the scoresheet, that was practically the only time he was on the scoresheet at all! His offensive prowess led to him scoring a total of zero goals and zero assists, totalling zero points with none of those coming in the 3:41 he spent on the powerplay. He registered no shots on net, for an undefined shooting percentage. Don't divide by zero, kids.

On the defensive side, he did next to nothing, registering a single hit and blocking no shots. The hit was honestly significant, due to his aversion to physical play. For his efforts, he was rewarded by being rocked twice by an unforgiving St. Louis team.

Due to his personal step forward in his on-ice game and refusal to do anything else, Ozoliņš has been awarded this gorgeous windowpane:

The Golden Crossbar of The Game is awarded to the player with the most shots without scoring a goal. Any ties disqualify all players involved. The winners/poor souls are a diverse bunch, ranging from SMJHL greats to busts, but they all have one thing in common: they are notorious for not being able to buy a goal.

A penalty shot opportunity wasn't enough to rid Matthew Auston of his scoring woes in this nail-biter. Five, count 'em, shots for the St. Louis forward in a game where it seemed like he never got off the ice, special teams or not. The Knights would be out-shot and generally out-played, and the Scarecrows would walk away with the W, but not before Auston caught our eye for the game's Golden Crossbar.

Better luck next time and congratulations/sorry Dweaves08
