2. Looking Towards the Future As we near the end of S69, the SMJHL draft will be happening soon. Going into next season, what are your team's biggest needs and areas of strength? Do any holes need to be filled with call-ups? Do you have a position that is incredibly stacked? Give us all an overview of your team, from top to bottom. The Vancouver Whalers desperately need defense. They only have two players graduating from the SMJHL this season. Bojack Calhoun and Sven Panda have been the team's top defensive pairing. With both of them gone, Vancouver's defense is looking pretty thin. Their strength lies within their forward core. Led by Klaes Ashford, Vancouver has been developing a strong group during their rebuild. They only have two players graduating next season, with everyone else in either their first or second season. Wednesday Addams and Jeff Lewis made some waves with strong rookie campaigns, expect them to be mainstays on Vancouver's first line. Their goalie tandem is also set for the next two seasons, with Noah Charlevoix and Sam Conroy. (117 words, +2 TPE) 3. Secret Plans It’s never too early to start thinking about how you’re going to gain a competitive edge next season! How is your team going to go the extra mile to get wins next season? Is it a secret training regimen? Sneaky equipment modifications? Booby trapping the visiting teams’ locker room? Anything goes. The Vancouver Whalers take pride in physical play. Sven Panda has been a top hitter for the past 4 seasons, and rookie Wednesday Addams led the league in hits with a whopping 196. Their training regimen involves boxing and a new addition of rugby. Boxing is great for cardio and stamina, and keeps the players alert at all times. The Whalers hope rugby will push them into a playoff run for next season. It's a physical sport, which allows them to stay in top hitting shape. It also trains speed and agility, as well as dodging defenders. The Whalers were at the bottom of the league offensively, so maybe this will boost their scoring numbers. (115 words, +2 TPE) 5. Superlatives Every team will always have that really funny/annoying/quirky player and personality. However, usually they can be the ones that really make sure the team gels together nicely. Come up with yearbook style superlatives to describe some of your fellow teammates. Most Likely to Climb Mount Everest: Sven Panda Most Likely to Become a Wild West Outlaw: Bojack Calhoun Shortest Name: Josh B Most Theatrical: Klaes Ashford Most Likely to Win an Argument: Wednesday Addams Best Dressed: Jeff Lewis Biggest Divas: LeBron James and Sergey Bombay Most Likely to Get a PHD: Anthony Simmons II (54 words, + 1 TPE) 7. Winner Winner Chicken At the end of the day, what we all really strive for is the Four Star Cup. It takes everyone's best efforts, an unrelenting determination to win and hard work to be able to hoist the glorious trophy. Out of the 12 teams in playoffs, who do you think will win the 4 Star Cup? Are you going for the clear favorites, or the underdogs? Give reasons to justify your prediction. The Quebec City Citadelles won the cup, which was unexpected for me. I really thought the Maine Timber had it locked up. Cale Salad looked simply unbeatable, leading the league with 55 goals, 51 assists, and 106 points. Those are insane numbers! And he's playing center, meaning he does it on both sides of the ice. It's not like he was doing it alone either. Pawter Meowski and Barefoot Sugars played on Salad's wing, combining for 65 goals and 95 assists. On the back end, they had the strong duo of Nathaniel Barca and Toasty. While they didn't put up many points, they were very focused on breaking up opponent rushes. They were effective at it too, combining for 120 takeaways! It was enough to carry their lackluster goaltending. And perhaps that was their ultimate downfall. (136 words, +2 TPE) 8. An Alternate Timeline If you weren't playing for your current team, which team would you most like to be playing for in the playoffs. Explain why you chose that team and how you think you'd slot into their roster. Would your player make a big impact on the team? Would you improve their chances of winning a cup? The team in the playoffs that I would most like to be playing for is the St Louis Scarecrows. You may think I'm crazy, as they finished at the bottom of the SMJHL. Below both Vancouver and Colorado who missed the playoffs. But I would slot in high in the lineup, and I love a good challenge. Could you imagine the worst team in the regular season, winning the four star cup? It would be the greatest upset of all time! Every player on that roster would instantly be hailed as legends, gaining so much fame. And if you're into betting, some random fan would become a millionaire! (108 words, +2 TPE) Code: Code: 12. On the Radar Wednesday Addams will be a steal for whichever team snags her. Her top quality would have to be her skating. She's super fast in transition. After gaining the puck in the defensive zone, you can feed her the puck and instantly generate some offense. That'll be extremely useful in all game situations. If you're in the lead, she will gain possession and kill the clock. If you need a late goal, she can get up the ice faster than others, making every second count. Another strength of Wednesday's is hockey sense, especially in the offensive zone. She knows how the play is flowing. She knows where the puck is going to be. She can utilize her strong poke check to steal the puck from any opponent, anywhere on the ice. A strong poke check, combined with fast skating, combined with strong hockey sense. She's like a cheat code. And it gets even better. Wednesday Addams led the SMJHL in hits with 196, as a ROOKIE. You get all that plus some physicality. She will wear down the opponents until they can't skate anymore. Something to be wary of is her shot. She scored an abysmal 8 goals on 103 shots, a 7.8% shooting percentage. She had many chances that just didn't find the back of the net. Additionally her personality isn't for everyone. She's very emotionless and self-centered. If something doesn't benefit her, she won't do it. While she does seem to have a very selfish personality, Wednesday is actually quite selfless on the ice. She led the Vancouver Whalers in assists with 30. She was a big part of why Jeff Lewis led all rookies in goals. Her reasoning for being pass-first is objective. She will give you the puck if you have a good chance of scoring. This comes from her great hockey sense, she knows when to pass and when to shoot, when to hold the puck and when to get rid of it. +3 TPE - SMJHL Milestones 8. An Alternate Timeline if I wasn't playing for Maine Timber right now I would want to be playing with the Detroit Falcons lol. Now of course everyone probably wants to play for them at the moment since they just won the regular season and are probably favorited to win the cup. But for me it would be because I know the gms and my last create was drafted there. They have a great community there and it's just a fun time. I think William Tree wouldn't make that much of an impact because of how stacked they are at the moment but I think I would be a great depth piece maybe. Which could possibly be the deciding factor if they win the cup or not lol ^ 124 which means 2 TPE 14. R&R The season is finally over and it is indeed time to relax and sit back with my family. The plan is to go to Hawaii for 2 weeks and just absolutely chill and lay back. My body is tired and I'm just tired. The season definitely takes a toll on your body especially since it is my first season in SMJHL. Plan to stay at the Four seasons and just stay there for the whole vacation. Wine and dine with my whole family which it's been a while since I've seen them so it'll be nice to be able to treat myself to this and my family. ^ this is 107 +2 TPE 16. Goals Man I'm not exactly sure what I want to do with William Tree but i do know I want to stay active with him for as long as I can. Trying to be actively earning and maybe even max earning lol who knows only time will tell. I hope I can be fortunate enough to be able to win a cup in both SMJHL and SHL that would be nice and maybe some of the other leagues we have like WJC and stuff I'm not sure how many other side ones we have but I just want to collect as many trophies as I can make my profile look nice you know lol. I also hope that William can maybe break some team records or league records just anything honestly. Would be nice to have his name on some sort of record doesn't matter what. I believe there's HOF introductions for our players not just users and I that would be a main goal for William. That would not be very easy though I know but I just hope I'll be able to play my part on whatever team I'm on and stand out. For just user goals I don't want to go IA again. I love these leagues like SHL, PBE, and ISFL they honestly bring me joy just such a great community and it's nice getting to know new people. I also do want to keep the job I have right now as an updater. It can be a little bit of pain but it's nice knowing I'm contributing to the league. Also I need money so that kinda helps when I'm running low on funds. But yeah im excited to see where William will land in the draft and how his career will pan out. If I can't win a cup then I just hope it's a successful career for himself. ^ this is 314 words +6 TPE TOTAL TPE = 16/16 |
