Also what the hell happened in January/February 2023 in the ISFL? Looks like an 80 AC bump. Imo, just looking around in general. PBE has the best sim engine out of the 3. And really lends itself well for sim league because baseball has full of stats that can be counted. So it makes it a more engaging product. Their 3D engine is actually good. So I can see why they can keep people a bit more. They need to get off of jcink though. With ISFL, it’s just like the cycle of shl. Good product, it’s just trying forum based video game is always tough to sell to people. They get lucky and get massive bumps from r/nfl and try to retain as much as possible With the shl, my hope as we move more towards shedding the forums and moving the complicated things to the portal. Making the portal better as time goes on. Making it more like a video game(while keeping the community aspect). We are able to buck the trend of the cyclical nature of recruitment -> people go inactive more than we recruit -> recruit to make up those numbers. So that we do have sustained growth.

that huge spike in ISFL is, I'm assuming, when they first advertised in MLR (Major League Redditball) which is where I first got involved. An insane amount of people joined in like 1 night, the draft was outrageous, and then a ton of those people bailed in a season or two... But I'm still here baby!

And 455 active users, it's much more than I imagined! COVID bump really helped all sim leagues. Brought in a lot of amazing users. Portal is bringing in a lot of people from other sim leagues + help retaining more 1st gens. So hopefully we continue to see the growth

Great article and an interesting read, I haven't been around in any other sim leagues but I can comment that as a first gen and first time sim leaguer that I probably wouldn't be either as active as I am or might have thought about going inactive without the portal. Simplifying everything into one spot that I dont have to track manually is great!
