Hello and welcome to SMJHL Post-Game Live, presented by Edelman PR!

<div align="center">Do you have a history of unsavory off-ice behavior? Accidentally let your mutant powers slip during a game?

Edelman: we can put a positive spin on anything. Anything.</div>

In tonight’s matchup, Halifax takes it on the road to Kelowna, the fourth meeting of the season for these cross-conference rivals. raiders @ Knights. Before tonight’s game, Kelowna held wins for all 3 prior contests, Halifax eager to come in and see if they can pick up a revenge win and try to regain some momentum. Before we go into our recap of the game, let’s take a look at the history between these two teams.

<div align="center"> A LOOK BACK
</div>

Season 27 ended with the Halifax Raiders five game points ahead of the Kelowna Knights. Both teams were ranked second overall in their division in the regular season, Halifax behind the Montreal Impact in the East and Kelowna behind the Colorado Mammoths in the West. The two teams were well-matched against each other--with six games over the course of the regular season, Halifax had three regulation wins, Kelowna two regulation wins and one overtime win. However, with the relatively weaker Western conference schedule, Halifax was knocked out in round one playing against Detroit, while Kelowna squeaked past Vancouver but lost to Colorado, who would go on to win the Cup.

Season 28 was another year of Kelowna and Halifax matching up surprisingly well against each other. While the Eastern conference continued to be stronger overall, Kelowna and Halifax had both lost significant weapons and were due for a rebuild. One argument by Western fans against changing the playoff formattting was in part this odd role reversal--in 7 meetings, Kelowna won 4 games in regulation, Halifax only 2 in regulation and one in OT. Both teams were then wiped out in the first round of the playoffs, Kelowna going down to Colorado and Halifax falling to the rebranded Montreal, the latter of whom would eventually go on to win the Four-Star cup.

However, it takes a juniors team less time to rebuild, and so Kelowna armed with their draft picks and Halifax having signed some key replacements in FA, would once again do battle…

<div align="center">Highlight Reel</div>

<div align="center">1. Knights rookie Nick Leier puts Knights on the board first

[Image: tkachuk_goal.gif]</div>

Nicholas Leier has had a quietly impactful rookie season for the Knights. One of Kelowna’s later draft picks, he combines with veteran Knight Dieter Dominique for a breakaway score on Halifax goalie Richard C. Hocolate. Though it was a beautiful goal, it was perhaps too little, too late as Kelowna failed to convert on four power play opportunities in the first period alone.

<div align="center">2. Herzog and De Bruin roar back

[Image: 102215_13_02.gif]</div>

Coming into the second period, the score was still 1-0 in Kelowna's favor, but Kelowna's momentum was quickly slipping as the Kelowna offense could not get a puck past 'Dick Chocolate'. While Kelowna goalie Mikke Laukkanen has been tremendous this season, he can't do it alone, and the second-year dynamic duo of Felix Herzog and Leif De Bruin slip one past him midway through the second period to tie the game, with a little set-up help from rookie Victor Lindstrom.

<div align="center">3. William Marner’s game-winner

[Image: letang3.19.15web.gif]</div>

The final goal of a great defensive struggle came from William Marner’s goal sixteen minutes in. Marner relies on teammates Corey Eaves and Ace McCardle and, to the collective groans of the Kelowna crowd, forces the Knights to go on the offensive for the last four minutes of the game.

Now, let’s turn our attention to the rinkside booth for our…

<div align="center">INTERVIEW INSIGHTS
</div>

Tonight we’re in the booth with a special guest, resident hockey expert Eggy!

Interview Halifax had four penalties in the first period alone, and Kelowna couldn't manage to convert on any of them, their only goal scored between penalties number one and two. Is Halifax's defense the hero or Kelowna's offense to blame?

"Well, you know, they can't be taking those penalties to begin with. Halifax has got to stay out of the box and stop giving up these opportunities. They got lucky here, it could have been much worse than it was."

Interview Veteran Halifax goalie Dick Chocolate came up with 34 saves tonight, only allowing one goal in the first period. What makes him so good?

"Steroids."

Surely Mr. Eggy means legal performance enhancing nutrients. *cough*

Interview From your background in hockey, if you had to give one piece of expert advice to hockey players just beginning their junior careers, what would you tell them?"

"Just keep getting pucks to the basket and maybe you'll be lucky enough to score a touchdown."

With one last segment before we wrap, we bring you the…

<div align="center">Cascade Scrub of the Game – Mikael Talo, Knights</div>

Today's scrub of the game is a rare find. While everyone has an off game here or there, tonight Kelowna sophomore Mikael Talo was more harm than benefit to the team that so relies on him. Though he intercepted ten more pucks than he turned over, the young player lost his composure late in the third period and took a hooking penalty that prevented him from helping out his team and put a lot of pressure on a relatively young defensive core. He also just looked a little flat out on the ice, his skating and shot speed well under his average and easily stopped by Mr. Hocolate--and with the amount of time he spends on the ice, Talo cannot afford to lose his shine before the playoffs.

With those factors combined, Talo is the Cascade Scrub of the Game! If Mikael wants to come out of scrub-land, he’ll need to re-focus on his skating so he doesn’t spend quite so much time relying on his stick to catch opponents' offensive weapons, and use Cascade to get those dishes squeaky clean, every time.

That will do it for tonight, and for the season! Thanks to all of our viewers for tuning in!

GAME 47 - MILITIA @ MAMMOTHS

A cross conference clash between the two previous cup champions was bond to get sparks flying and everyone involved feeling feisty, but the fans were treated to a real contest when the Militia made the trip over to Colorado to take on the Mammoths. Who would prevail in this hotly contested match up? Lets take a look!

1. Highlight Reel

First period, 17:12

"The Militia have the powerplay opportunity! Ilmari Maatta plays the puck to Watson who will drag it back to the blue line to Richard Douglas. He shoots it with a big slap shot and it's in the back of the net! The Militia take the lead late in the 1st period "

Second period, 2:05

"Maverick O'Dooley paces with the puck as the Colorado Mammoths look to make a break! O'Dooley feeds it to Antoine Vietto, Vietto looks out wide and reaches Steven Stamkos Jr. Stamkos Jr rounds the defenders, spins and shoots, and it rattles off the post and into the net! Tie game!"

Second Period, 11:57

"The Militia have a commanding two goal lead here and it doesn't look like they intend on letting up! Nolan Angello breaks out of the zone with it, dekes right and toe drags it through the defensemen and plays a beautiful no look pass back to Vladimir Lenin! Lenin shoots at goal, it ricochets off the stick of Jason Forbrook and into the net! The Militia score their 4th!"

2. You and me got a whole lotta history...

We've already mentioned briefly that there's a bit of a rivalry between the Colorado Mammoths and the Montreal Militia. This mostly dates back to the Militia/Mammoths cup final series in S27. Back then the Militia were known as the Impact, and after a Laurifer Trophy as the regular season's best team they were looking to complete their season with a Four Star Cup. They fielded a dominant team with players including league MVP Matt Lewis Flood and leading scorer Raven Silverwing, but ultimately the Mammoths managed to prevail in 6 games and win the series. The Militia refused to rest on their laurels and managed to refine their roster to the level that they could win the Four Star Cup in their first season with their new name, this time defeating the Prince George Firebirds in the final series.

3. I have to praise you like I should...
The Game's Unsung Heroes.

Now comes the time when we pick a player for each team who stood out for something a bit less than obvious than the usual statistics considered. For the Montreal Militia, we have Viatcheslav Orlov. Orlov is a key defenseman for the Militia and he demonstrated just why in this game. Playing big minutes at important times of the game largely at even strength and penalty kill situations, Orlov also contributed solidly with a brace each of hits and blocked shots. This overall defensive grit undoubtedly played a big part in helping Montreal hold their lead. When it comes to the Mammoths, their unsung hero would without a doubt be defenseman Richie Pecker. Playing tough minutes on a young team, Pecker managed to maintain a even plus minus and put up other solid numbers in terms of shots, hits and blocked shots. All in all a solid performance from the defenseman that helped his team at least make an effort to get back into the game.

In conclusion

Two young teams enjoyed a game that was maybe a little closer than the scoreline suggested. Could these teams replicate past success and meet again in the Four Star Cup finals? Perhaps, but if this is any indication of how a series between the two could shape up we'd certainly be in for some exciting viewing.

Final Score:

Mammoths Colorado Mammoths - 2

37 Colorado Mammoths vs Vancouver Whalers

This is the first meeting between these two western Conference rivals of the regular season. Right now the Whalers are 3-4-1 this season awhile the Mammoths are 2-4-3. This game is a battle between two of the worst teams this season.

1st Period

30 seconds into the hockey game, we got a goal. Alfred Holiday Scores with a slap shot from the point and the goal was assisted by Charlie Conway and Zach Zyvleski. This is looking like another poor game for the Mammoths.

Sludge (COL) for Holding (Minor) at 2:38

The Whalers have a two minute power-play, this is not looking like a good start for the Mammoths. Whalers don’t end up scoring on this power-play.

Midway thru the period, Whalers add another goal to give Vancouver a 2-0. It was scored by Levi Kubrak assisted by Strawberry Blake and Theodore Graham

The score is 2-0 for Vancouver and the Shots are 7- 6 for the Whalers.

Interview with Ben Dover.

Interview What are your thoughts on this game today?

Dover: we shouldn’t allowed that first goal of the hockey game 30 seconds into the hockey game. It killed any sort of a good start today and well we need to be better as a team if we want to win hockey games this season. Teams in the SMJHL are very good and they play the right way, right now we aren’t playing the right way.

Interview What do you want to work on as a Team?

Dover: we need to start putting the puck into the back of the net, which is somewhat part of my job. I am a offensive defensemen and someone that should be able to a game breaker and well I am not this season and well I need to start doing that.

Interview What do you need to do to do that.

Dover: put more pucks on net, being outshot every game isn’t an option and well we are not playing well enough to sustain pressure in the offensive zone, we need to be faster, better puck movement and win more puck battles.

2nd Period

With a 2-0 lead going into the 2nd period, The Whalers were expecting some sort of pressure from the Mammoths well, they didn’t get nothing. As they( Mammoths) only had 5 shots during the 2nd period of the game. Vancouver got 9 shots on goal this period.

The period ends 2-0 lead for Vancouver and Vancouver has a 5 shot lead in the shot total.

3rd period

Vancouver get a early power-play but they fail to score.

Theodore Graham (VAN) for Holding (Minor) at 4:58

Mammoths get their 1st powerplay of the hockey game. And well it fails miserly and the score is still 2-0 for the Whalers.

Conklin Owen Scores the 3rd goal of the game for the whalers which was assisted by the man himself, Bernie Sanders and Jon Ross.

Ben Dover gets a trip to the fantastic sin bin and Vancouver fail to score.

The Final Score was 3-0 for the Whalers and the Shots are 24(8)- 14 (3) as the Mammoths lose another game this season.

Three Stars
1 - Stiv Dingels (VAN)
Somewhat surpising that he gets the 1st star, I know he got the shutout but only 14 saves, like he had nothing difficult to deal with all game but I suppose no player really didn’t dominate for the Whalers as it was a team effort

2 - Alfred Holiday (VAN)
Score the GWG, Was on the ice for 2 of the goals for.

3 - Levi Kubrak (VAN) Another supursing pick, he went 6/ 13 on the face-0ff circle

Prince George Firebirds vs Colorado Mammoths- Game 43

LINKY MCLINKYSON

History
These two teams have already played in 3 games prior to this one, with the scores being 4-2, 3-2 and 3-2 again, all in Prince George. Prince George however has dominated every game as they have a shot differential of +34 in those 3 games. They are definitely a better team. The Mammoths are a team that have lost 8 of the last 9 games heading into this battle and are trying to make sure they don’t fall to much in the league standings even though this is a rebuilding season for the Colorado squad.
Here is a Pre-Game interview for this game with Offensive Defensemen Ben Dover.
Interview You have lost your last three match-ups against this team. What are you going to do differently in this matchup to secure a victory?

Dover: get more shots on net, this isn’t rocket appliances. You can’t win hockey games if you are constantly outshot by 10 every single hockey game, only way you win is by lucky bounces and having a hot goaltending which isn’t the right way to play hockey.
Interview Do you guarantee a victory?

Dover: I would love to but this is a very good hockey team over there and we need to play great hockey to win against this team. They have had our number all season long and we need to show them Mammoth Hockey.
Interview Are you starting to develop a rivalry against this team, 4 games in the first 10 games, much add a lot to this game.
Dover: We tend to believe so but I doubt they do, they are winning every game against, they are licking their lips every time they see us on the schedule, and we are thinking lets not lose against this team again.

1st period
Ser Duncan (PGF) for Cross-checking (Minor) at 1:50
The Mammoths get the first power-play of the hockey game this is good news for a team that is trying to break a losing streak against the firebirds.
And well, they didn’t score against this time but they did shoot the puck at will as Dafoe had to make multiple big time saves to make sure that a puck doesn’t cross the goal line

Jorgen Dahlssen (COL) for Holding (Minor) at 7:50
Now it is the firebirds turn to go on the power-play and well the score.
1. Prince George Firebirds , Karl Hertzberg 5 (Barak Obrana, Dean Banger) at 9:09 (PP)
end of the first period
shots 12- 4 for the Mammoths
Score 1-0 Firebirds
2nd period
Maguku ties the game up 1-1, assisted by BJ Subban and Richie Pecker

Last then 2 mins later, Jakobsson Scores to give him team a 2-1 lead over the Mammoths as it was assisted by Ser Duncan.

Again last then 2 mins later, the firebirds score the third goal of the hockey game to get a 3-1 lead. 4. Prince George Firebirds , Karl Hertzberg 6 (Hunky Monkey, Casper Jakobsson) at 13:39

End of the second period.
Shots 21-13 Mammoths
Score 3-1 Firebirds

3rd Period

Hunky Monkey scores with a point shot to give his team a 4-1 win, what a goal by this monkey, weird that monkeys are in the SMJHL and scoring big goals eh.

dman Hunky Monkey and Goaltender Ace Dafoe Celebrate the 4-1 victory over the Colorado Mammoths.

MVP:
Karl Hertzberg or Casper Jakobsson Could be given the MVP of this hockey game but it has to go to netminder Ace Dafoe, 27 saves and only letting 1 goal in the back of net, .964%. what a game by this netminder. Mammoths had 5 power-plays this game and he was a big reason why the never got a power-play Goal. On those five power-plays they had 11 Shots on net. He gained the momentum needed for his team to score 4 goals this hockey game.

Hello and welcome back to The Round Table, the only official Kelowna Knight’s post game show!

We’re in Halifax tonight, looking back at an explosive, high scoring game between the Knights and the Halifax Raiders, with a total of nine different goal scorers, combining for a thrilling 5-4 win for the Knights.

Let’s take a listen to the game winning goal in TSN’s Big Play of the Game…

The faceoff is in the offensive zone for the Knights. Underrated player of the season Dieter Dominique lines up against Jean-Luc Reflieux, digs his shoulder in and wins the puck back to rookie blueliners Cara Hohenberg, who waits, fakes a shot, waits a little longer, and then fires the puck through a Nicholas Leier screen! Knights take the lead with less than fourteen minutes to play!

The Knights finish the period strong, and even with the Raiders pulling their goalie for an extra attacker, the third ends with one shot for Halifax, eleven for the Knights.

Player Interview

We caught up with Hohenberg after the game:

Interviewer: Were you happy with how this game went?

Hohenberg: We were happy we got the win. We wish things had gone a little different in terms of how many goals we allowed, but we got the W, and at the end of the day, I think everyone agrees that that’s the most important stat.

I: How are you adjusting to the North American ice?

H: [laughs] It’s not as good as Austrian ice, that’s for sure. But I like it okay, once I got used to how small it was. It’s softer, too. Hard to keep good ice when it’s so warm in Kelowna.

I: Any long term goals for the season?

H: Keep scoring, obviously, but I also want to keep up the defensive side of the game. If it’s a choice between scoring a goal and preventing one, then I’d much rather prevent one. Id I could be half as defensively skilled as Mia [Landvik, star defencewoman for the Knights], then I’d consider that a really good season.

MVP

Unsung hero of the game this time is someone who’s been very much the sung hero of the season. With two assists, goaltender Mikke Laukkanen padded his stats sheet even more, leading all goaltenders in points, as well as save percentage, wins, and GAA.

Hello and welcome back to The Round Table, the only official Kelowna Knight’s post game show!

The Knights continue their surge to the top of the league, with goaltender Laukkanen’s tenth win of the season, only fifteen games in, as they top rivals the Vancouver Whalers four to one.

Let’s take a look at TSN’s Big Play of the Game…

The game winning goal came late in the second period, from none other than heart and soul of the team, Captain Mikko Linna, who leads both on and off the ice, leading the team in points, goals and assists. Assisting him this time was his partner in crime and alternate captain Mikael Talo, currently second on the team in points. Talo takes the original shot, but Dingels manages to get the pad on it at first. Linna is there immediately for the rebound, and he just manages to tuck it home behind Dingels’ left skate. Since Talo’s drafting last season, these two have been inseparable on the ice, and for good reason. The Knights wouldn’t be where they are without these two players.

Player Interview

We caught up with Linna after the game:

Interviewer: You have to be pretty happy with how your team is playing so far.

Linna: Definitely. One hundred percent. Everyone’s on the same page, and though it’s still early in the season, we’re already focused on playoffs. This is going to be the last year most of the core of this team plays together, and I know I’d like to finish with a Cup win. I imagine so does everyone else.

I: Anything you can improve on, as the season progresses?

L: Less penalties. [laughs] I think I’ve only had one minor so far this season. The same can’t be said for many of our players. I don’t want to name names, but. She knows who she is.

I: How do you suggest you keep your strong start going throughout the season?

L: I mean, as long as everyone keeps playing the way that they are. I know I just ripped her for penalties, but Mia’s playing an amazing game back there, and Lauks is just. Lights out. Our MVP for sure, this season. We’ve been incredibly lucky with our rookies this season too, especially on the blue line, Ty and Cara are really shaping up to be the new stars of Kelowna. They’d have my vote for leadership every time.

MVP
Tonight, Linna was that rare forward who leads his team in ice time, and was also awarded first star of the game. Well deserved for the Captain, who collected the game winning goal and an assist on a team leading four shots.

Hello and welcome back to The Round Table, the only official Kelowna Knight’s post game show!

It’s a disappointing night for Knights fans here in Detroit, as Kelowna falls, 4-1, to the Detroit Falcons and their rookie goaltender.

Let’s take a look at TSN’s Big Play of the Game…

The game winning goal was scored about halfway through the first period by Wiljian Zjang, after an outstanding clear from Jari Ohvo, the Falcon’s backup rookie goaltender, springs Justin Novastar, who’s free and clear on a 2 on 0 breakaway with Zjang, who crashes the net to tip Novastar’s shot home.

Player Interview

We caught up with Dieter Dominique, the lone Kelowna goalscorer, after the game:

Interviewer: What do you think Detroit did that you didn’t?

Dominique: Well, they scored a few more goals than we did [laughs]. Really though, it was their five on five play that killed all the momentum for us, they’re an incredibly well put together team, and they just outworked us, every time. They’re a good team.

I: You’re on pace to hit career highs in points, goals and assists. How do you feel about keeping this hot streak going?

D: I feel pretty good about it. It helps that I’m playing on the second line now, I think, it takes a little of the pressure off, and I have two young wingers that are killin’ it at the minute, so I’m kind of just hanging on for the ride, and trying to put the puck in the net. It’s working out okay so far.

I: How do you feel about your changes in the playoffs, as we get deeper into the season.

D: I feel-- pretty good, again. I’m trying not to think too much about it, to be honest, I don’t want to jinx anything. I think I’m just gonna let our season record speak for itself, with this.

MVP

Our MVP this game is the Falcon’s rookie goalie, who held a red hot Kelowna team to one goal, and improved his record to 7-5-2, impressive numbers for a rookie. He made twenty two of twenty three saves for a save percentage of 0.957. Here at the Round Table, we expect to see good things from the young goaltender in the future.

(Just not against us, hopefully!Wink

Game 117

Whalers 2
Mammoths 0

Synopsis

The Vancouver Whalers dominated the Colorado Mammoths in all aspects of the game to earn a 2-0 victory over their Western Division rivals. The Whalers got a pair of goals from Brandon Makarov, his second and third of the season, while the Mammoths mustered only nine shots on net, all of which were denied by Vancouver netminder Triforce Link. Jacob Andrews did his best to keep the Mammoths in the game as he turned away 29 of the 31 shots he faced, including 13 of 15 in a first period that saw the Whalers hold a 15-3 shots on goal advantage. The victory for Link was his eighth of the season, while Andrews took his 15th defeat with the loss.

Turning Point Of The Game (Group 1)

The turning point in this one was a 2 minute and 56 second span in the first period when Makarov found the back of the net twice, the only scoring on the evening. Makarov opened the scoring with an even strength goal just past the halfway point in the first period. The Vancouver blueliner took a feed from teammate Winston Porter and placed a shot by Andrews to open the scoring. The Whalers then took advantage of a Frontdoor McGraw minor just shortly after and extended their lead to two as Makarov saw his seeing-eye shot from the point squeeze its way through traffic and into the back of the net. Makarov's two goals turned out to be the difference and are tonight's turning point of the game.

Interview With Brandon Makarov (Group 2)

Interview A rare offensive performance for you Brandon, what was in your game tonight that led to those two goals?

BM: "I can't really point to anything specifically I guess, but the lanes were there and I was able to take them. Colorado is a young team and sometimes that leads to a little bit of extra time for us defensemen at the point to get our offensive game going. Tonight I had two opportunities and thankfully I was able to capitalize on both of them."

Interview You guys held the shots on goal battle 31-9 but Andrews was solid in net for Colorado, what's it like playing against him?

BM: "Andrews is a solid tender, no doubt about it. When you're playing against one of the more talented netminders in the league, you have to focus on putting pucks on net and hoping that you can find screens, deflections, things like that. Tonight, on my second goal especially, I really got some good help from my teammates while we were on the power play, creating that traffic in front. Somehow my shot got through and went in. We know our goaltender at the other end is just as good and when you give him two goals on a night like tonight we're confident we're going to win."

Interview You guys in third in the conference, ahead of only Colorado. What's it mean for you guys to get the wins against the teams behind you?

BM: "It's always important to try and create some distance between you and the teams behind you but we know we can't take anyone for granted in this league. Colorado's been at the bottom all season but you can see their improvement from Game 1 until now. It's noticeable and we're not overlooking them or anyone else in this league. It's a tough competition and we're just happy to get the two points.

Three Stars (Group 3)

1. Whalers Brandon Makarov

Makarov stole the show tonight with his two goals. The usual stay-at-home defenseman was the hero on the evening for Vancouver as he accounted for 100% of the scoring. Makarov's goals were just his second and third on the season and his offensive prowess in tonight's win is a big moment for the young blueliner.

2. Whalers Triforce Link

Link was not tested early, often or really at all by any means, but he did what he needed to to collect the shutout and the victory. Link saw just nine shots over 60 minutes of action, but the netminder made all of the saves he was asked to make and he earned his 8th victory of the season in the process.

3. Mammoths Jacob Andrews

While Link was hardly tested, Andrews had to put on a show just to keep his team alive in the game. With Colorado heavily outplayed all evening, Andrews was forced to make 29 saves, including 13 on 15 shots in the first period. The stout effort from Andrews kept his team alive in the game and gave them a chance to win, despite the poor effort.

Summary

The loss sends Colorado back to the drawing board, searching for answers as they look to tur things around headed into the latter part of their schedule. The victory is a confidence builder for Vancouver, as the Whalers look to continue their roll and make a run at home ice advantage in the first round of the postseason.

In a high scoring game like this, we always want to breakdown the nitty-gritty stats between both teams. Brought to you by SMJHL Today, we bring you our Team Comparisons

It is probably safe to say that goaltending was not the strong suit of either team in this matchup, but it's clear that Laukkanen performed better than Detroit's starting goalie, McSieve. While Laukkanen allowed five goals, he stopped 27 out of the 32 shots that he faced. McSieve however, under-performed as he only managed 6 saves out of 10 shots before being pulled and Ohvo being brought in. Ohvo had a better game, as he managed to stop 20 out of 23 shots. Detroit performed a tad better on the powerplay, scoring 2 goals on 8 chances while Kelowna managed 1 on 5. Detroit managed to dominate in the faceoff circle tonight, winning 58 faceoffs as opposed to Kelowna's 37 faceoff wins. Kelowna was not afraid to get down and sacrifice the body however, as they blocked 12 shots as opposed to Detroit's 5.

As always, we like to wrap up our show by presenting SMJHL Today's Unsung Hero of the Game!

Alex Berkis, the top line left winger for Detroit had the performance of the game tonight. Although being on the losing end, Berkis managed to pocket 2 goals and an assist tonight, and even managed to lay in a couple hits. He managed to stay at an even 0 tonight, which shows that he isn't to blame for the defensive woes this game. He also managed to play a grueling 24:44 minutes tonight. It is also worth noting that out of the four faceoffs Berkis took tonight, he managed to win an even two.

GAME 49 - MILITIA @ FALCONS

We revisit this great old rivalry once again as the Militia visit Detroit's Joe Lewis Arena for another clash that's sure to see sparks fly and everyone feeling feisty. Montreal haven't found things as easy as last season but rookies Orlov, Forbrook and Angello along with all time great goaltender Matt Lewis-Flood mean they can never be written off. Detroit rely on star forwards Maximus Sarone and Hans Moleman to bring some scoring power that Montreal will need to plan to overcome.

1. Highlight Reel

First period, 4:17

"It is Wiljian Zjang who will line up to take the defensive face off against Jason Forbrook in the Militia zone. Zjang wins the puck and passes it to Alexander Odegaard! He shoots and it rattles off the post and into the net, Detroit take an early lead!"

First period, 8:41

"The Militia are looking to level the game after going down early and Johnny Watson carries the puck for them, it's passed to Jaylor Toast. Toast finds the rookie Nolan Angello open and racing through the neutral zone, Angello passes the defensemen and he's one on one with McSieve. McSieve tries to reach out and stop him but Angello dangles it almost through him and slots it in, what an unbelievable goal from the rookie to tie the game!"

First period, 16:39

"It looks like Montreal forward Jason Forbrook is going to be taking an early trip to the showers here after he's been ejected for a very nasty spear against one of the Falcons players. That was a really reckless play that we could see followed up on with discipline by the league."

2nd period, 0:25

"Montreal have so far been able to kill off this long penalty chance but Detroit are looking dangerous tonight! Edvins Berzins passes to his defense partner Justin Novastar who combines with Rising Hippo, Hippo shoots and scores! It's in the net and Detroit are in the lead!"

2. The interview.

After another tough loss tonight, we go to Montreal rookie and the Militia's only goalscorer tonight, Nolan Angello to get some reaction.

1. Thanks for joining us again Nolan, another tough loss for the Militia tonight, where did it all go wrong in your opinion?

"Urh, it's hard to say exactly but we didn't play as a team as well as we wanted for sure. We looked kinda sloppy on defense and we let Detroit dictate the game which is just a recipe for disaster against a team as good as them. We need to stop them putting that many pucks on our goalie specifically, MLF is an unbelievable player but he can't win a game all on his own."

2. Does the loss coming against Detroit, a team that shares a lot of history with Montreal, make the loss harder to take?

"Well I don't think any loss is easy to take but yeah this one stings a little. Like you said there's some history between the two teams and the fans really come alive when the two teams meet so I'm disappointed we couldn't reward them with a win tonight. But they were definitely the better team today so I don't think we can be in any position to complain."

3. A Falcons vs. Militia playoff matchup is a very real possibility, based on tonight's events do you have a lot to be afraid of?

"I don't think we can afford to fear any team, I mean yeah they've beaten us here and they're a very talented squad but we can't afford to go in with any kind of fear. They're a team that has their eyes on the cup this year but so do we, it's going to eb really interesting to see who would come out on top in seven games but for now, we just need to crack the regular season and keep our attention here until playoffs arrive."

Thanks again Nolan.

3. Three Stars

3. Kalid Dermot

The fiery Falcons winger was all over the ice tonight and scored the Falcon's third and final goal of the game, as well as posting a positive plus minus and three shots on net. A good performance for someone playing in the bottom six of the team.

2. Rising Hippo

Rising Hippo delivered a great performance tonight that was vital to Detroit's success. Scoring the game winning goal, making 9 shots on net and 5 hits is a great performance by anybody's standard.

1. Sivy McSieve

McSieve delivered a clinic tonight, letting in only one goal and making 21 saves on 22 shots. Posting a save percentage of 0.955, he managed to keep out Montreal as they threw everything at him in the third period. Very good work indeed.

In conclusion

A tough contest for both teams but ill discipline from Montreal cost them and allowed the Falcons to run the game their way. The Militia showed some signs of promise but tonight was all about the home team.

Final Score:

Falcons Detroit Falcons - 3
Militia Montreal Militia - 1

Game 95 was a battle between one team that was in the middle of the pack in the Montreal Militia and another team that was a bottom fender in the Colorado Mammoths. Montreal was definitely the favourites in this hockey game. However a Montreal Victory did not happen. Goals by Steven Stamkos Jr, Antoine Vietto and Abed Nadir. Gave the team enough offence to fend off against the Montreal attack as they only scored 2 goals on 19 shots. Montreal Goal Scorers were Feta Fingers and Nolan Angello. Jacob Andrews made 17 saves for the victory. These was a very close which was surprising as these two teams are at different levels of the spectrum.

Three Stars:

1) Feta Fingers- The 3rd line winger was one of the better players for the Milita. He scored the games first goal, he was one of the few players that were a + in the game, he had 2 shots on net and he got a hit in there. He had a very eventful game despite only playing 17 minutes.

2)Viaatchesiev Orlov- ANother Impact, weird. They lost but tehy still get the first two stars. He got an assist, was a +1 and he was phsyical with 4 hits and he blocked 1 shot.

3)Maverick Dooley- Defenseman for the Mammoths, Assist, +1, 1 shot on net, 4 hits and a blocked shot. He had an okay game. Not the best game but just good enough to help his team win the hockey game.

Interview with Ben Dover:

Interview How did that game go?

Dover: Good, we played a good team game, he limited chances for the other team and we tried to play good defensive hockey. We will win more hockey games if we continue to play like this. We have to be a defensive team. I feel I am getting better defensivly this season. I am not playing like the offensive first dman I know I can play like. I know this might not be good for scouts but I think this is the best way to help my team win and I am willing to change my game to help my team win.

Interview Hows dooley as a partner?

Dover: he has been good, He is also another big, mobile defence man. He loves to skate, move the puck up the ice and create some chances it is fun playing with him and hopefully we get drafted to the same team.

Interview Do you think you can handle more minutes in this league?

Ben Dover: Not quite, I want to be a 25-27 mins per game defender in the SMJHL, I want that but I am just going to wait and see how my game progresses.

<center>DEPTH SHINES THROUGH FOR FALCONS</center>

Detroit Falcons (5) vs Prince George Firebirds (3)

This post (AND PREEEE) game show is brought to you by Stride Gum: Your man won’t last long in bed? Well, at least our gum will.

PRE GAME STORY:

This is the second meeting for the two bird-themed teams. Detroit has a 1-0 lead on the series after a close-fought 3-2 game in the Jets Blue arena.

The Prince George Firebirds have started this season struggling, only winning 4 of their last 8, with 3 of those games being overtime wins. Although, after winning last night the strung out Vancouver Whalers, perhaps their season is turning around. A win tonight could give them a much needed boost to put themselves out of last place in their division and maybe give them momentum for the rest of the season.

The Falcons and team-leading scorer Maximus Sarone look to overcome similar hurdles with a slow 4-3-1 start to their S29. If they truly want to win they’ll have to take the energy out of the arena early.

Your starting goalies tonight see a young star in Ace Dafoe for the Firebirds (to avoid McFadden starting back-to-back). Dafoe looks to win his first start in the SMJHL tonight. The Falcons will put their hopes in their starter, Sivy McSieve who has played in each game this season, so far.

The starting lineups are:
<center>Falcons
Berkis-Sarone-Moleman
James-Thorvaldsen</center>

<center>Firebirds
Dupoopoo-Winter-Banger
Obrana, Monkey</center>

Let’s take you down to the Prince George Sports Colosseum and into the action.

---------------------------

<center>FIRST PERIOD:</center>

The Falcons launch the first volley with Kalid Dermot scoring his second goal of the season a minute and a half into the first period. This was followed up shortly after by a killer powerplay goal came from rookie Nucky Toohoots (4), assisted by star defenseman Prince Daniel James and Tobias Thorvaldsen just seconds before the penalty was about to expire to Dean Banger. Shots were in favour of Detroit 10 to 8, although they spent 2 more minutes than PGF on the penalty kill.

<center>SECOND PERIOD:</center>

A second powerplay goal came in for Detroit on a 5-on-4 when Berzins slapped home a cannonball that Dafoe had no chance to stop. But the Falcons made a poor mistake in the Firebird zone when, due to some not-so-fancy foot/puck work, Karl Hertzberg was able to poke the puck away from Justin Novastar, pass to Obrana, who gave it to Jakobssen who was able to wrist home a sweet over-the-shoulder shot on McSieve to keep Prince George in it. Period two’s shots were, once again, favoured for Detroit 14 to 5.

<center>THIRD PERIOD:</center>

The first ten minutes of the third period were all Prince George – fired up after their first goal of the game came a period earlier. Detroit took two penalties in those first two minutes but the Firebirds were unable to capitalize on the man advantage. Then, at 11:55 in the third, Clive Stonehands did the opposite of his namesake when he deflected a shot into the goal for his first of the season and put Detroit up by two. Berkis followed this up a minute and a half later by shoving a stick in the way of Maximus Sarone’s show to, again, deflect a shot past rookie Ace Dafoe. At this point, the Falcons are up by 3 and Prince George is about ready to pack it in. But Casper Jakobssen wasn’t ready. Once again, a minute and a half past the last goal, Jakobssen wristed a high hard one over McSieve’s shoulder for his second goal of the game (and 5th of the season). This put some life into the down trodden team. Minutes later, Hertzberg dumped one, five-hole, through McSieve’s pads and put the Firebirds within 2 with a minute and a half left to the game. Then, if by the hand of god, Prince Daniel James took a 2-minute minor for holding the stick. But it appeared that the Firebird coach had packed it in and given up – PGF didn’t pull Dafoe and were unable to score anymore goals as Detroit took the contest 5-3.

Individual Player Stats and Things Of Note:

- Only 5 Falcons (who played over a minute) walked away from the game without a point, meaning the remaining 11 players managed to at least register a point (Stonehands and Toohoots came away with multi-point nights).
- Barack Obrana played nearly 27 minutes (in a game that didn’t go to overtime) and had a game-high 5 shots blocked.
- Casper Jakobson scored 2 goals, went +3, but apparently an all star performance (and the stats to match) aren’t enough to bring your team back into a game.
- Rookie Nucky Toohoots gathers two points and now has 3 multi-point games in S29.

MVP

Stride’s Longest Lasting Player of the Game is Barack Obrana! Almost 27 minutes (that’s an entire period and THEN some) of game time is all that’s required to be our Longest Lasting Player of the Game. Not to mention his 5 shots blocked, an assist, a shot, and 2 hits! Thanks Obrana! #Obrana4Prez.
