GM/HO Pay
#31

There's zero reason we shouldn't be getting 4 mil (half of equipment) to do what we do.

Being a GM is a 24/7 job for the most part, always having to be available for your players and getting them to stick around, etc.

The argument has been made so many times tbh. There's no reason to do it up again.

Honestly, if we enable GMs to be paid, we then should have checks and balances in place for them to be removed if just there for the paycheck essentially. Allow for whatever compensation you wish, but have a committee of people to act as team ownership. After seasons, they will meet with general managers of teams they believe to have underachieved or underperformed in their duties or with their team to then determine if they fulfilled their role. If not? Fired. If they have a clear plan or can justify it in any way, continue. This allows us to be sure someone can't just take the job for the pay and coast from there and makes sure even without pay that general managers are active and contributing to be safe in the case there may be any problems. (Unlikely, but possible)

An old man's dream ended. A young man's vision of the future opened wide. Young men have visions, old men have dreams. But the place for old men to dream is beside the fire.

Even if GMs do not get paid, I think the HO should be removing GMs that don't do their jobs.

HO seems to be the most thankless job in the world. They're always the bad guys on this site for some of the most stupid reasons. Money can't buy love, but it'd help a little.

As for GMs, they work their asses off to keep a team running. Worlds of stress put on their shoulders. They should also be paid well.

Sleepy, you the man!

Lol at the thought of someone taking a GM job for the paycheck

Seriously lmfao you could do ANYTHING ELSE and make more money without the scrutiny or having to go through the ringer of even being hired as a GM

I don’t think this is as big an issue as people are making it out to be. It’s pretty cut and dry if a GM is doing their job or not and there are already built in punishments for not doing their job properly.

I can’t think of a single current GM or Co-GM that would just coast and not fulfill their duties to their team or to the league. If this becomes an issue in the future when some of the GMing teams eventually step down, then HO can intervien as they as see fit. There are already procedures in place to remove GMs who do not do their job properly.

I am not looking at this proposal as a be all end all for income as a GM and I think something in range from 2-4 million a season would be sufficient as compensation. I simply think GMs should be given some reward for all the work they do.

HO agreed to pay GMs a while back, but I wanted back pay for all the years I was GM and commish and HO. They said they wouldn't so I said no one gets paid until I get paid.

I can speak from experience, HO (at least in other leagues) is more work than GMing. HO 100% deserves to get paid, it's an insanely busy job and not super rewarding thanks to getting shit on every time you make a decision. I support these guys getting paid.
