Task 13 sent.

(This post was last modified: 07-28-2019, 07:22 AM by Kylrad.)

Task 1 (3 TPE)

There are many talented young players on both the Buffalo Stampede and the Winnipeg Jets, but if I had to pick one to build my team around it would be Commander Shepard. On the ice Commander Shepard has been developing very nicely with over 700 tpe and had a decent regular season and playoffs for a rookie.More importantly however are Shepards off ice qualities, the guy is a natural born leader whether it be through motivating and inspiring others, or striking fear in them, either way he'll get the best out of his teammates. Shepard would shape the image of my team as a force to be reckoned with for sure, after all what is playing and winning a few hockey games to a man who defeated the reapers. The only thing i'd be concerned about in regards to Shepard is his questionable dancing skills, but as long as those don't make a public appearance we should be all good @LarksTongue

Task 3 (3 TPE)

Looking back at S48 I didn't really accomplish anything as it was a pretty awful season for me and Chicago. I pretty much sucked at everything and probably did worse in almost literally every stat compared to my previous season. Because of that I need to improve on basically everything offensively and defensively as my stats and production in both were pretty awful. I could be like my inferior Smeb brothers who can't accept that they're just awful and blame my teammates, but unlike them I can actually accept my faults and plan on improving. The only thing really that I didn't fail at last season was my powerplay production and my low pims as i'm not some useless goon like parker smeb. Going into S49 i expect my role to be pretty similar rotating around the lines  perhaps as the number 1 or number 3 center maybe with a bit less of a role as chicago continues to develop as a team. @O4L @Velevra

Task 5 (4 TPE)

1. Put together a challenge cup fantasy team using the 2 teams in the finals as the player pool. This fantasy team must include at least 1 young player (S44 or higher) and in 50+ words discuss your choices.

Viktor Marius - Hippo Passamus - Commander Shepard
Tatu Makela - Gary Grease
Cedric Moreau

The above would be my challenge cup team as it has a good amount of experience in likes of perrenial Dar contender Marius and tough D in Makela in Grease. Passamus and Shepard meanwhile are great upcoming talents and Passamus along with Marius has dominated these playoffs, plus who wouldn't want Commander Shepard on their team

2. This series boasts an interesting matchup at the blue line between star studded defenders! Which includes Troy McClure III, Gary Grease and Slip McScruff from Winnipeg.. & Buffalo's Tatu Makela, Connor Tanner and Charles Walker.. which group do you expect will outshine the other and why?

Winnipeg's D play a very tough game and are much younger than Buffalos, but in this situation I'd have to give the edge to the Stampedes D and expected them to come out on top simply due to sheer amount of experience they have on that blue line with Makela, Tanner and Walker.

3. Winnipeg making it to the finals was an unexpected surprise. What were some of the main reasons why this franchise was able to persevere into the leagues most important series.  (*tag anyone involved)

Some of the main reasons Winnipeg was able to make it into the finals were due to combination of young talent stepping up in their various rookies, along with the continued dominance of old players such as Jason Visser who doesnt seem to be affected by age at all. Add on top of all of that the excellent goaltending  of Cedric Moreau and you find yourselves in the finals @treant @ToeDragon84

4. Buffalo has made it to the finals in 2 of the last 3 seasons. Who or what has been a primary reason for the recent success of this franchise. (*tag anyone involved)

The primary reason for the recent success of Buffalo is clearly Wannabefinn, the man is a god gm and instantly recognized that the reason for Buffalo's past struggles were due to selfish players like Velevra and Kitras97 and as a result  shipped them out from the team and now the success is pouring in. @WannabeFinn

Task 10 (3 tpe)

The S44 Challenge Cup finals saw two of the most dominant teams of that time facing off against each other in the finals in the Winnipeg Jets and the West Kendall Platoon, For the Jets in particular this was a last run for a team that who had immense regular season success with plenty of presidents trophies, but only 1 cup in that time. For the Platoon names that are still going strong today such as Dani Forsberg, Trevor Wilson and Alex Light were their star players, meanwhile for the Jets it was the last run for the likes of Zach Evans, Kyle Kylrad and Pietra Volkova alongside the still dominant Jason Visser, it also ended up being one of the last seasons for their goaltender in Artom Zhumbayev. In the end the Jets thanks to their stellar goaltending and star power all throughout the line up emerged victorious over the platoon in a 6 game series.

CW TASK 05: (Written, up to 4 TPE)

Pick up to 4 challenge cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth '1' TPE. Each answer must be '50' words or more.

1. Put together a challenge cup fantasy team using the 2 teams in the finals as the player pool. This fantasy team must include at least 1 young player (S44 or higher) and in 50+ words discuss your choices.
Forwards would consist of: Marius, Garrett, Passamus, Bayley, Selich, Lavelle, Wagstrom, Scarn, Blunt, Vissier, Jesus and Manius.
Defence would consist of: Grease, McScruff, Karlsson, Metzler, Tanner and Makela.
Goalie would be Robinson.
His team has the most consistency in points and would therefore be the most dominant. I know that might sound silly but I think it's a great strategy.

I expect Buffalo's defenders to outshine Winnipeg's defenders because I think Buffalo have the edge in experience over the Jets relatively young lineup. I feel as though Makela won't do as well in scoring as we think he might have, and I believe that Grease will have to hold up Winnipeg's lines the most as the rest will be under intense pressure just to stay in the game with the rest of the more experienced players on the other team.

3. Winnipeg making it to the finals was an unexpected surprise. What were some of the main reasons why this franchise was able to persevere into the leagues most important series.  (*tag anyone involved)
I have no idea how they managed to make it to be honest. A lot of the other teams that they were up against were stronger in terms of both calibre and experience. I'm gonna put it down to the Coach putting in hard work to make sure his team had the tactical advantage at all times. It's a shame he couldn't pull it off in the end but what are ya gonna do. Just getting to the finals was a huge surprise and they can look at building on their future from that point of view.

4. Buffalo has made it to the finals in 2 of the last 3 seasons. Who or what has been a primary reason for the recent success of this franchise. (*tag anyone involved)

5. Both franchises come into the series with a hot Cedric! Between Winnipegs Cedric Moreau and Buffallo's Cedric Robinson which emerging netminder has the advantage over the other in this series?
Robinson has the advantage from the sheer presence in front of his crease. It's the defenders that will win the cup for sure, but I'm sure he will put in some fantastic saves along the way to really leave the Jets feeling desperate. I predict he will let in two goals in the final game though.

In S43 it was stamps, in S45 it was coins... and here in S48 the leagues looking to sell Challenge Cup Commemorative Plates! CW TASK 1: (Written, 3 TPE)
Both teams in our challenge cup series come in with a healthy set of talented young players. if you were to choose a player from either teams SHL roster or there prospect pool with a (start date of S45, S46, S47 or S48) to build your team around, who would it be and why? What qualities on or off the ice make them 'that guy' and how do you think they would shape the image of their franchise? (150+ words and *tag any player involved in this task)

Without a doubt I'd pick the talented, amazing, and beautiful Darrow @hhh81

His build is amazing and without a doubt going places. He will be able to successfully defend and also be a scoring threat. His ability to control a pp is amazing. His ability to fight off other pp's is awesome. And yet he still throws big hits. The player is already a total package who is only going to get better. Hopefully he continues to grow and prosper. He isn't just a complement player to a team, he is the team. Calling him a corner stone is an understatement, he is the truck thar delievers the cornerstones for every row.

CW TASK 3: (Written, 3 TPE)
For most of us S48 is over and now its time to sit down with your GM's for a season end review! talk to your GM's about what youve accomplished, what you are strong at, what you need to improve on and what would you like your role to be moving into S49. Task must be 150 words or more. (*Tag your GM’s)

@flappyg

Cheers to us buddy! I made you carry my sac of potatoes ass for another season! I don't think I lead our team in anything other than most games without a point and longest streak without a point while playing more than 10 minutes a game. I have built the Andrew Macdonald of Winnipeg. My ability to do nothing is only matched with my ability to be outscored by rookies. Impressive. I'm basically the EZ bake oven of the SHL, a great toy but never going to win any awards.

As I say every year, thanks for the money and I promise I'll get better next year! Maybe.

NO

Obviously I want to pick myself along with the Greasy Boi and Slip McGruff Chicago Il. 60652, but I don't think we compare to Tatu, Conner and Charles. For the record, that sounds like a law firm. Anyway, T.C.C. has us beat because they are solid 2 way players, while T.G.S. have high points and low points. It is very close, but I'd give it to the buffalo guys.

3. Winnipeg making it to the finals was an unexpected surprise. What were some of the main reasons why this franchise was able to persevere into the leagues most important series.  (*tag anyone involved)

GG and myself built a great team, plain and simple. We know we are as good as any other team out there. Getting @CFJ back was a morale boost that we needed. Hopefully we can continue to grow andake another run next season!

4. Buffalo has made it to the finals in 2 of the last 3 seasons. Who or what has been a primary reason for the recent success of this franchise. (*tag anyone involved)

Buffalo is basically our twin. They drafted very well and should be at least contending for 4 more seasons. The draft depth and great scouting has done very well for them. Both GMs have done an amazing job and hopefully they will continue. They are a challanging team to play against and I look forward to playing again.

5. Both franchises come into the series with a hot Cedric! Between Winnipegs Cedric Moreau and Buffallo's Cedric Robinson which emerging netminder has the advantage over the other in this series?

it is a tie. Moreau got hot at the right time to carry us, but Robinson has been hot all year. They both have a great blue line in front and both deserve to win. I suspect both will in the seasons to come. Robinson and Moreau are cornerstone goaltenders.

CW TASK 6: (Written, 3 TPE)
For those in the SMJHL, your job is to fine tune your game to be ready for a call up to the SHL. Part of that fine tuning is having to decide what kind of player you want to be. That can be a tough decision to make as it impacts your entire career! What made you decide on the position you picked? why did you choose your specific player template and talk to us about the type of player in the SHL that you would like your game to resemble. (must be 150+ words)

My build process started with thinking about what player was already successful in the SHL. I looked at all the player builds and decided that while there was proven success, my better bet was to forge my own path to greatness.

So I said I'll go half goon that can't shoot. I did win one cup, so I guess I can say I'm successful.

But seriously, I wanted to build a player that isn't a selfish superstar, but undoubtedly a superstar. I don't want to be an obvious choice for HOF at first glance, but rather that player you look at on paper and go "Wow, he was good!" In short, I want to be the Gary Grease of Winnipeg!

Which includes Troy McClure III, Gary Grease and Slip McScruff from Winnipeg.. & Buffalo's Tatu Makela, Connor Tanner and Charles Walker.. which group do you expect will outshine the other and why? "Well this feels like a challenge but i'll give it a go. Out of all of these defenders only Slip has yet to add a Challenge Cup ring to his name. This unfamiliarity with what it takes to win might give the Stampede crew the edge in this comparison. Recent regular season success, paired with the more recent cup win for Buffalo makes me feel like they have the edge as well. That said, the Jets are meshing at the right time."

3. Winnipeg making it to the finals was an unexpected surprise. What were some of the main reasons why this franchise was able to persevere into the leagues most important series. Ola Wagstrom has lead the way with 17 points and a HUGE 14 point performance from Nick Brain has provided some surprise depth scoring and then some. Finally I CANNOT leave out Cedric Moreau and his .922 SV% he is playing on God Mode right now and it may just be what the Jets need."

4. Buffalo has made it to the finals in 2 of the last 3 seasons. Who or what has been a primary reason for the recent success of this franchise. (*tag anyone involved) "First and foremost I HAVE to tag @Tomen and @WannabeFinn these guys have been hard at it on trying to build what once was the SHL's LEAST successful franchise into a contender and now are reaping the benefits. They brought together a great, if abrasive group of players on and off the virtual ice. Cedric Robinson has been instrumental as a REALLY young netminder who is still well on his way to being in the SHL a long time too."

5. Both franchises come into the series with a hot Cedric! Between Winnipegs Cedric Moreau and Buffallo's Cedric Robinson which emerging netminder has the advantage over the other in this series? "If I have to give out a choice it has to go to Robinson on the merit of his recent play over the course of the last 4 seasons. BOTH Tenders have cup rings, but Buffalo has been able to hold together much more regular season, and playoff success thus far. Its going to be a rough ride and one hell of a series."

[include link to archives] "I pick the S22 Challenge Cup finals (One that I shamelessly covered recently) Between Panthers and Rage These two were a similar tale to S48's Jets and Stampede in that one had a good regular season run that felt special in Panthers and the other was a 4th place playoff squeaker in Rage . Series went to all 7 games but Rage came out on top with a 2-1 win in LA. It was fantastic hockey to cover. Daniel Merica lead them in goals with 11 also having 18 points only behind the 20 of Tommy Creller. Panthers Etienne Modano had 10 points as a rookie so its similar to what Jets Nick Brain is up to. C.J. James posted some amazing numbers in net for Rage and was a major deciding factor in who would come out on top. Could Buffalo play a similar roll as a low seed who rises to the occasion?"

If given the option to add a player to the Hamilton system from the Buffalo or Winnipeg programs, I would take Jax Duggan, the first overall pick of the Season 47 Entry Draft.  With the exodus of defensemen currently going on in Hamilton with Nour Harrak and Ben Dover retiring (and Finn Kruger soon to follow) there is a need for defensemen, particularly skilled defensemen and not pylons like Anastasia O’Koivu, probably a WOAT second-overall pick in SHL history.

Also @SecondSucks22  is a cool dude who has already shown his level of involvement around the site, taking on jobs like Assistant Federation Head for the Canadian IIHF team.  He is a two-time medalist in World Juniors as a player/coach, and just won a Four Star Cup playing for the Vancouver Whalers.  There’s no doubt he’s going to be part of a very successful future for the Winnipeg Jets, but man, if I could have a time machine and make him part of Hamilton’s future defensive plans…

Alright, boys, let’s talk business here.  I get it, you had some proven stars when I got here like Ben Dover and Nour Harrak.  Well, they’re gone now.  They’ve hung it up, finally joining my dad in the retirement home where they belong.  It’s time to fully embrace the era of the Russian Prince.  35 minutes per game.  5v5, power play, penalty kill, shootout lineup, all of it.  And get me off a pairing with that pylon Anastasia O’Koivu.  I still can’t believe you drafted that anchor, but let her tie up Kruger or something.  Jesus.
I know my numbers haven’t been that great to this point in my career. But put me in a place to succeed and I promise I will prove why you drafted me number one and why I am the genetically superior player in the SHL.  Just make it happen.  Let the Prince ascend to his throne.

Firstly, it’s a TRAVESTY that Detroit Falcons legend Alexis Metzler wasn’t included in the representation of Stampede defensemen.  What does a team captain have to do to get some love around here?  They also have Cassius Darrow on the third pairing, which really speaks to Buffalo’s depth.  Max Weber for Winnipeg is no slouch either, but you have to give Buffalo the edge for its depth throughout the defensive ranks.

Winnipeg making it to the finals was an unexpected surprise. What were some of the main reasons why this franchise was able to persevere into the leagues most important series.  (*tag anyone involved)

I can’t say I was surprised, as evidenced by my decision to draft three Winnipeg Jets onto my fantasy team which would go on to be the universal champion of SHL fantasy.  With that said, I can definitely see how people wouldn’t have expected the perfect meshing of the generations at play with this season’s Jets.  Veterans like Jason Visser and Crossfit Jesus were still contributing at a high level while young stars such as Ola Wagstrom and Lil Manius (just to name a few) are hitting their peak.  Obviously, they will lose Jesus this offseason and Visser will someday (maybe?) lose his tug of war with Father Time, but there is a bright future ahead for the Jets.

@ToeDragon84 @CFJ @Bonk @StamkosFan

Buffalo has made it to the finals in 2 of the last 3 seasons. Who or what has been a primary reason for the recent success of this franchise. (*tag anyone involved)

With no disrespect to any of the players involved in Buffalo’s rise to prominence (they’ve obviously had to pull their weight to make this happen), you can’t say enough for the job @WannabeFinn  and @Tomen  have done to make Buffalo a perennial contender.  The Stampede were a long-time laughingstock of the league, perhaps less embarrassing and controversial than their expansion siblings in Portland but undoubtedly less successful.  Now, they are one of the top teams in the league and have a strong foundation to succeed for years to come – and even more draft picks on the way, thanks Minnesota.

Both franchises come into the series with a hot Cedric! Between Winnipegs Cedric Moreau and Buffallo's Cedric Robinson which emerging netminder has the advantage over the other in this series?

There’s no question that both Cedrics have been phenomenal in the playoffs.  However, I would have slightly more confidence in Cedric Robinson in this series.  While Moreau had the better regular season numbers, Robinson is arguably the better goalie and has had plenty of success throughout his career. I have a hard time betting against him in a seven-game series.

It’s the Finals matchup as old as time – the West Kendall Platoon and the Winnipeg Jets.  They have met four times in the Challenge Cup Finals, including the very first championship matchup in Season 1.

Most recently, the two teams met in Season 44, one season after the Platoon defeated the Jets in the Challenge Cup Finals. This time, the Jets would claim revenge, winning the series in six games.  The Kazakh Wall, Artom Zhumbayev, would claim the Anton Razov trophy as playoff MVP, with a .915 save percentage over the course of the postseason.

From an offensive standpoint, it was no surprise to see the team’s famed “S31 Boys” – Zach Evans, Jason Visser, and Corey Bearss – lead the team in playoff scoring, with Pietra Volkova just behind them.  However, the stunning moment of the series came in the decisive game six, when Nicholas Williams, freshly called up from the SMJHL Playoffs, scored the first goal of the game en route to a 4-1 Jets triumph.

No question it's Nicolaj Muller. He led the Crows and the SMJHL in scoring the past season, and already has 1 four star cup to his name. Nicolaj "Never a Cap" Muller donned the C for the s48 season, and was an example for the team on and off the ice. He can literally build robots from scratch, always wants to help out when there's needed, but be careful, he has a dark side. He's done something worse than cheating, but I can't type it out here for fear of getting banned...

He played 5 minutes in the finals for Buffalo but each of those minutes was crucial and I firmly believe without his valiant penalty kill Buffalo would've been swept. I'd bet at least 62 dollars on it. Muller stands up for what's right in the SHL and has started a concentration camp for boomers that has garnered a lot of support from Czechia. Just an all around good dude, Muller is the franchise piece for Buffalo. Might as well send all the other prospects to Minnesota.

Gotta go with Jason Visser, he's a beast and always performs in crunch time. I'd go with Passamus, and turn him back into a center like he was originally, and pick Lil' Manius to round out that line. On D I'd go young and pick Darrow and McScruff. In net there aren't great options, I'll go with Robinson just because he has room to grow.

I believe all of these players have a cup to their name except for McScruff, and because of that, I'll give the playoff experience nod to Buffalo. They are the older bunch and will likely not make as many mistakes in the big games. Tanner is not quite used to the system in Buffalo being a recent add, but someone with his caliber of skill should adjust quickly. I give Buffalo's D core the edge in this one.

3. Winnipeg making it to the finals was an unexpected surprise. What were some of the main reasons why this franchise was able to persevere into the leagues most important series.  (*tag anyone involved)

They were able to take the series against the Specters in 7 solely because the Specters choke in the big games. Losing all three franchise playoff losses in game 7's, they've outdone themselves again by blowing yet another 3-2 lead. This one is solely on Cain as in the series clinching game he let in a goal with 20 seconds left in the third, sending the game to OT. He then let in the first shot of overtime 6 seconds in. Just an absolute choke job when 30 seconds earlier they were heading to the finals. @SlashACM

5. Both franchises come into the series with a hot Cedric! Between Winnipegs Cedric Moreau and Buffallo's Cedric Robinson which emerging netminder has the advantage over the other in this series?

I'm gonna go with Moreau. He shut down some very tough west opponents. The Pride doesn't exactly have the most dominant offense but they can hold their own, but Moreau shut them down. A absolutely lethal NOLA offense that took care of the Dragons in 6 was up next, but Moreau stole game after game, routinely stopping almost 40 shots and earning a shutout in there as well. For some reason, despite the lower TPE, he's just performing here in these playoffs.

S48 was the season of the podcasts here in the SHL and with increased audio competition comes the fight for Challenge Cup advertising! HO has asked you to create an audio add for a "Buffalo/Winnipeg preview" script to be aired on the radio. 'Both teams have won the Cup in the past 5 seasons. Both teams have been at the bottom of the standings. Both teams have added some key players for their runs. Both teams have added youth throughout their lineup. Old vs New, Tradition vs Expansion, tonight we will see who reigns supreme. Their climb to the top may have looked different. For the Jets, a hard fought series against the league newbie Specters. For Buffalo, the defending champ Platoon was hungry for their 4th cup of the decade.  Join us for Challenge Cup game 1 as the Eastern Champion Buffalo Stampede take on the Western Champion Winnipeg Jets. In this series, anything goes.'

I think this ad would create some suspense and hype both teams up equally. It states their similarities and differences, especially with Winnipeg's history of success and Buffalo as a new contender for the cup in recent seasons. Both teams are a good mix of young and old and Winnipeg has had to retool since their S44 cup.

CW TASK 1: (Written, 3 TPE)
While most championship teams struggle to maintain both a strong major league roster as well as a prospect pool, the Winnipeg Jets have not been having such an issue. Looking at the young players on the Jets’ roster, a number of great players stand out - but to me the one that should be best to build around is @Trautner Michael Scarn. An S46 center at over 800 TPE already, Scarn is one of the elite young centers in the league despite his youth. Playing for the Jets in the playoffs this season he’s managed to finish second on the team in points, with 14 including 6 goals. Centering the team’s second line not only at even strength, but also on the power play and when the team was short handed, Scarn really carried more of the load than most would have expected from someone at his age. If he can build on this season’s playoff performance for multiple seasons to come, the Jets are set up for a strong future.

CW TASK 3: (Written, 3 TPE)
While Rainbow Dash’s off-ice development has likely slowed to a pace that is not quite what Calgary Dragons GM @Steelhead77 was expecting when he traded for the former first overall pick, her on-ice performance has been pretty strong, especially in the Challenge Cup playoffs. Building off a strong playoff performance last season, Dash yet again turned on the jets in the playoffs picking up 6 goals and 9 points in 11 games, good for third on the team behind both Izzy and McGavin who had 10 points apiece. The regular season was also pretty decent for the Dragon’s winger as she finished with 27 points in 50 games, along with 158 hits. Overall considering where Dash is at in her development it’s hard not to be happy with her on-ice performance, which is likely why both Dragons management and Dash herself were so eager to ink her new contract for the next two seasons prior to the winger hitting the open market. As far as what Dash would like to see next season, more of the same would be nice for sure. This was a strong season for the Dragons winger, and a return to the playoffs and a chance to continue these strong performances would definitely be welcome.

F: Victor Marius Stampede
F: Jason Visser Jets
F: Michael Scarn Jets
D: Gary Grease Jets
D: Slip McScruff Jets
G: Cedric Robinson Stampede

For forwards the choice was pretty easy - if you can take Victor Marius you take Victor Marius. Jason Visser was far and away the standout player in the regular season for the Jets, and far surpasses even Marius’ regular season total, and then Scarn is just a great young player to satisfy that requirement. On defense Grease and McScruff both scored 32 points apiece on the season so you can expect good fantasy points from them. Then Robinson faced way more shots than his Jets’ counterpart, and as we know bad defense = more shots = more saves = more fantasy points.

Like the headline says both of these teams’ blue lines feature some extremely strong players (and this doesn’t even mention Alexis Metzler on the Stampede). It’s hard to just pick one over the other, but I’m going to go with the Stampede. While I’d take the top defensive pairing on the Jets over the Stampede’s top pairing, the Stampede just have some of the best defensive depth in the league. When you can afford a second pairing of Metzler/Walker why would you go with anything else?

3. Winnipeg making it to the finals was an unexpected surprise. What were some of the main reasons why this franchise was able to persevere into the leagues most important series.  (*tag anyone involved)

To me it was more of a surprise to see the Stampede back in the finals than the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets are a strong organization, really lead from the top by @ToeDragon84 (Jason Visser). Visser’s an easy first ballot hall of farmer, and it was his team-leading regular season performance that truly enabled the Jets to make the playoffs for another season, and his continued stellar performance in the postseason is carrying the Jets to another finals berth.

5. Both franchises come into the series with a hot Cedric! Between Winnipegs Cedric Moreau and Buffallo's Cedric Robinson which emerging netminder has the advantage over the other in this series?

Personally I’d lean towards Buffalo’s Cedric Robinson. While both goaltenders have been stellar both throughout the regular season and the playoffs, Robinson was tested more than his counterpart on the Jets which prepares him more for the playoff workload than the Jets’ goaltender. This may end up being where the series is won or lost, because these teams are so evenly matched - if one goaltender has a bad series that’s going to end up being the difference maker.

While the index is unfortunately down at the moment, we’re going to take a trip back to the S33 finals which featured the Dragons of Calgary representing the western conference and the Wolfpack of New England from the East in a showdown between GMs Eggy216 and Steelhead77. It was a hard fought series between the two teams but it was all going to end in this game six showdown in which the Wolfpack would win their third cup in the last four seasons, matching the same feat done by Steelhead77 and the Dragons some number of seasons earlier. The star of the game, and likely the series, was the young Wolfpack goaltender Mikke Laukkanen who took over for former Wolfpack goaltender Jacob Tanner whose surprise unannounced retirement left fans wondering if the Wolfpack were still the same team they once were. Laukkanen shut the door on the Dragons in this final game, holding the team to only 2 goals on the night and bringing home the Challenge Cup for the Wolfpack. Also featuring in this game were Tim Buckner, who always seemed to play his best in the Challenge Cup playoffs, and a soon-to-retire Nathan Russell who showed that, despite his advanced age, he still had something to prove in this league.

If I'm choosing a player to build my team around it's Michael Scarn. He has already shown himself to be an offensive force in these playoffs putting up 14 points in 19 games which is extremely impressive given his age. He was a +5 in the playoffs as well showing some signs of good defensive play. Scarn is a center which is a very important piece to build a team around and involves a lot of work on the players' side to stay competitive. I think Scarn has and will continue to put in the work to be a number one center in the league. Personality is also a huge part of being a core piece to the team and I've had no bad experiences with @Trautner. I liked everything he brought to the Raptor locker room and extremely happy we were able to draft him where we did in his SMJHL draft. There are many good young players on both teams, but Michael Scarn is the best choice.

5. Both franchises come into the series with a hot Cedric! Between Winnipegs Cedric Moreau and Buffallo's Cedric Robinson which emerging netminder has the advantage over the other in this series?

1. I'm going to make my dream line out of these 2 teams. Rules for myself are 3 players need to come from each team, and 1 team can't have 2 defense, or all 3 forwards. The team is going to be centered by Jason Visser, he may not be as good as he once was, but probably one of the best all-time players from either team. Victor Marius is going to be playing on his wing, he might be playing C in the series, but I can't not have him. The other winger will be Ola Wagstrom, a quality young player who can play now. On D We're going to take Gary Grease & Tatu Makela. Finally, in net, we're taking up and comer Cedric Robinson.

2. Buffalo's and there is no question about it. Connor Tanner is a Blizzard great and is always destined for greatness, that alone should be enough. But Winnipeg's Troy McClure III is actually a hologram that has just convinced us he's good at hockey. There is no proof that he even actually exists. That's why I need to choose Buffalo.

4. You need to give credit where credit is due to @WannabeFinn & @Tomen for building such an unbelievably strong team. They've managed to develop their draftees into strong competitive players while integrating acquisitions like Connor Tanner into the team. Speaking of draftees, the majority of their team seems to be Buffalo drafted, which makes this team even more impressive.

5. This is really hard, both goalies put up above a .920 saver percentage and a GAA below 2.5. I think if I were to give an advantage to either goalie, it has to be to Moreau. He has more experience, already has a cup to his name and is putting up equally impressive numbers to Robinson on a weaker team.

Witness the battle of the titans. This challenge cup finals will final reveal an answer to the age-old question, "what is better, airplanes or a rushing group of bovines?". Once a place no one wanted to go, Buffalo is looking amazingly strong & a destination for hockey players wanting to win a cup. Still a place no one wants to go, Winnipeg has taken advantage of forced destination rules (ie. the draft) to build a team full of brainwashed slave labourers (Don't worry Troy McClure III, we're still trying to break you out of there). Watch the Challenge cup finals, you most likely won't regret it!

I'd put this on one of @SlashACM's podcasts because it's basically a giant shitpost and I feel like fans of his podcasts would appreciate that. I feel like slash would do a good job of shitting on everyone involved, myself included. S45 Championships: Link to index

The S45 finals was one of the best finals in recent memory. It featured the Edmonton Blizzard & West Kendal Platoon and it all came down to a pivotal game 7 where Edmonton closed out the series to win their first cup since S28. Edmonton had the stronger team on papers, but it was a mish-mash of players who had just recently been thrown together after their star-piece Tigole Bitties was dealt to New England. West-Kendall had just recently come off a S43 & S41 championship and were looking to make a claim at a 40s dynasty. Edmonton was lead by a large cast of star & future star players Joe Kurczewski, Oisin Fletcher, DeMaricus Smyth, Ensio Kalju, Teddy Cuddles, Hercules Rockefeller, Cory Knouse, Connor Tanner, Tor Tuck, Tommy Tuck, Nikolaus Scholz, & Piotr Czerkawski. Even rookies Tony Pepperoni & Willy Mack look like they're going to be stars in the league. West Kendall was lead by greats like Ludwig Koch Schroder, Roman Augustus, Dani Forsberg, Alex Light, Leafer Rielly & Beaujeaux Biscuit. The series started with Edmonton taking the first 2 games in the series and looked like they just might overpower West Kendall. West Kendall responded with 3 straight wins to put Edmonton on the brink of elimination. Game 6 went to overtime & just as West Kendall could taste their 3rd cup in 5 seasons, Edmonton put in the overtime winner to take game 6 and bring the series back home. Edmonton would go on to win game 7 5-3 and lift the cup in front of the Blizzard crowd.

EDM All-Time Leader in Goals, Assists and Points

Task 1:

@TnlAstatine is pretty much THE prospect of my draft class. Even 4 seasons deep, being consistently stuck in SMJHL because of Buffalo's "problem" with roster spots, he kept at it, kept getting all them TPEs and is still top 2 in the biggest draft class this site has ever seen, which is an impressive feat, not even counting the fact that there were several pretty good recreates that were expected to easily lead this class, yet its two 1st gen players in Luffy and Scarn that are the top players of our draft. Once mid S40 players take over as the majority players in most teams, Luffy is going to become the franchise forward, definitely someone to build around thanks to his immense talent and his unrelenting work to keep as high as he is, and to outedge the competition. To me, that's a fairly simple decision on who I would want to have as a build piece to center an entire SHL roster around.

Task 3:

@JayWhy has this great tradition of exit interviews, so his ideas about my performance are pretty clear to me. This season for Rage has been...questionable at best and it has clearly shown on people's stats, and specifically for a rookie defenseman like me that does a great deal of damage, so JayWhy was slow to criticize. His only two points against me were things that I can improve upon, the shots on goal and the hits. Shots on goal are notoriously low on players like I am, so this one was an expected point of annoyance and I have done steps to touch on to this topic already. When it comes to hits though...for now, it's the only point of relevance my player has rn, so improving on it is something that is just going to do good to the team, even though I don't know how to exactly yet ._. Other than that though, the review has been mostly positive, and I think he has been surprisingly ok with my absolutely bad season. I guess he is looking forward, and there is really only way up for me.

Task 8:

"Are you ready for some of the good old fashioned hockey? The highest level of ice hockey competition in the North America, the Simulation Hockey League, presents it final match-up between the Winnipeg Jets, and the plucky underdogs on a miracle run in the Buffalo Stampede! Who will take the coveted Challenge cup? Will it be the Jets, after winning the Northwest division beating out San Francisco and in the absolute nail-biter outedging New Orleans? Or will it be Buffalo, on their run from 3rd in the absolutely incredibly even Great Lakes Division, coming all the way from the play-ins sweeping Toronto, then just barely scraping by Tampa Bay, the best team of the regular season, and after all of that having to defeat West Kendall aswell? Be ready for some action!"
This would be a part of the announcment on the Old Jokes podcast, simply because I really enjoy the idea of Infidel or JayWhy trying to sound as a 70s announcer, with their voice as manly and raspy as they can get it, while the other one is laughing their ass off, and then very likely with a horrible, horrible pun to start of the rest of the podcast. Also, I hope at Infidel will be digging this style a bit more than the rest of us youngsters, so he would give the advert his best acting just to be able to get the job done as well as a masterpiece like this deserves.

TASK 1:

If I were to choose a young player from either team in the Challenge Cup Finals to build my team around it would be Lil' Manius. @Bonk has a proven track record of success with his last player Big Manius and had a very long successful career, I expect the same for his new player. Lil' Manius proved this season he's a star in the league and one of the best young players in the league. When looking for a player to build around you want someone who has a great work ethic, someone you can trust to stay with your team long term, someone who is mature and will represent your team well around the league, someone who is well-liked and has a big bank account. Lil' Manius checks all those boxes and then some. A great player, SHL member and good character guy, he'd be my choice from the two rosters. [153]

TASK 05:

My fantasy team choices from the 2 cup finals teams: WPG: Jason Visser (F) - a long time stud in the league he needs to be on the team. Lil'Manius (F) - A stud in the making had a huge year and adds a physical edge. Ignatius Blunt (F) - because everyone loves smoking a blunt. BUF: Cassius Darrow (D) - solid  young Dman with a high D rating, that's always key to success. Alexis Metzler (D) - a strong high tpe Defenseman who we can lean on heavily in all situations. G - Cedric Robinson - A strong young goalie capable of posting good numbers and wins. [100+]

TASK 6:

Esa Parmborg is currently playing in the SMJHL for the Halifax Raiders and having good success as a two-way playmaking center. I chose this build and position because in my experience centers are the most important forwards on the team. If you want to have success as a team you need to have strong depth down the middle. Looking fwd to a call up with Calgary, I knew we'd want a future stud center to lean on and that's why I created a center. The choose of playmaker over scorer because I've found playmaking centers to work well in the sim and be a great catalyst on a line with 2 snipers. The type of player in the SHL I want my game to resemble is a speedy primary passer who's also great on defense, strong on draws, can play in all situations and be leaned on heavily to help the team go deep into the playoffs and win championships. I expect Parmborg to fill a big need for Calgary and solidify the center position for the next couple decades. [180]

TASK 10: (Old indexes not available)

The most historic Challenge Cup Finals had to be S27 Calgary Dragons vs Hamilton Steelhawks. Coming into the series Calgary had not won the cup in 17 seasons, they had finished last in the league just 3 seasons before and made a big turn around with numerous moves by a new GM in an effort to bring a championship back to Calgary. In the cup finals Calgary found themselves down 0-3 after the first 3 games, facing elimination they made some bold line changes which paid off. Their star players at the time like Esa Anrikkanen, Nicholas Pedersen, Alex Mack, Steven Jalopski, Sachimo Zoidberg, a young Randy Randleman and Vlad McZerhl to name a few all stepped up along with legendary goalie Hunter Wong. The Dragons completed the first ever reverse sweep in the cup finals, coming back from down 0-3 to win the series in 7 games and I think it even went to overtime of game 7. I believe we won a goal by rookie Michael Burch. That's about as exciting a you can get in the cup finals. With the historic comeback and championship Calgary won their 1st cup in 17 seasons and began an incredible era of success that saw them win 5 cups and go to 7 finals over the next 16 seasons.  [218]

If i were to start a franchise to build and build it around one of the prospects or younger roster player found on either the Buffalo Stampede or Winnipeg Jets i think i would have to go with that quite young and quite first overall defenseman jax duggan. the jax duggan went first overall not because he was great but because he is really ok and thats what the winnipeg jets needed. and modelling yourself after the winnipeg jets is good for two reasons 1.) they have WIN in their name so they always win every challenge cup ever and two the just won the challenge cup which mean they are good enough to win the challenge cup and thats the whole goal of the league. first jax duggan would shape my franchise in it's name: the Spookytown Skeletons as it is a well known fact that jax is quite the scary guy to look at. secondly he would shape our franchise trajectory by requesting a trade in which i would use my excellently superb gm skills to get Mike Izzy in return which would instantly make me the best and sexiest team in the league.

my player is a member of the west kendall retirement home full of the oldest and most wisest players in the shl (and bojo). as a small and young child i must be raised by these old folks while also raising them myself as they aren't quite built like how they used to be. at the end of the regular season i finished with 14 points, nine goals and 4 assists. i am nearly close to hitting 600 tpe and that should be enough to make my player at least the best in the league (my builds are very efficient because i have a 9000 iq). im am prediciting at least a season that is 10x better than this one, so easily 90 goals and 40 assists, and that is me being humble. its clear that my power will be too much for the SHL to take and i will have to be nerfed in secret by HO. they will secretly resim until i end up with some sort of 20-30 point season. terrorfying.

Pick up to 4 challenge cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth '1' TPE. Each answer must be '50' words or more.

2. This series boasts an interesting matchup at the blue line between star studded defenders! Which includes Troy McClure III, Gary Grease and Slip McScruff from Winnipeg.. & Buffalo's Tatu Makela, Connor Tanner and Charles Walker.. which group do you expect will outshine the other and why?

winnipeg has simply the smartest and most genius defenseman since sliced bread. the buffalo barbarians simply have no match for the well groomed troy mcclure 3 garry grease and slip mcscruff, of whom monsieur mcclure 3 has the most wonderful bathing routine. a routine so handsomely special that it is almost a sin to share or speak of it to other mortals and dare i say the most wonderful bathing routine since sliced bread.

3. Winnipeg making it to the finals was an unexpected surprise. What were some of the main reasons why this franchise was able to persevere into the leagues most important series. (*tag anyone involved)

a witch cursed all other teams except for winnipeg during a drunken gathering of the teams most exuberant defenseman, and the only reason that winnipeg was spared was due to troy mcclures wonderful bathing routine which made him smell like the most whimsical of lavenders. this lavender scent lured the witch into dreams and memories of her homeland and thus she decided that for the good of the world winnipeg must be the champions of the entire shl.

4. Buffalo has made it to the finals in 2 of the last 3 seasons. Who or what has been a primary reason for the recent success of this franchise. (*tag anyone involved)

buffalo has so many smelly men on their roster that it is impossible for they opponents to breathe with out sufficient protective equipment, however this equipment is currently banned by the shl in the rulebook, leading to the putrid tyranny of buffalo and their smellyness of which no other team can withstand. i fully expect this matter to be discussed in the next cba due to fear of a player's strike

5. Both franchises come into the series with a hot Cedric! Between Winnipegs Cedric Moreau and Buffallo's Cedric Robinson which emerging netminder has the advantage over the other in this series?

in the cold climates of winnipegs and buffalo's a hot chocolate is a winter time staple. the drink is quite lavish and trendy while also providing the warmth to keep your body going in the harsh winters that bring such dangerous things such as: snow. quite like a hot chocolate a hot cedric is a goalie for either the buffalo or the winnipeg depending on if it is a moreau or robinson variety. the due proccess makes it quite easy to detiremine which netman shall best the other in a 7 game series and that is the cedric of moreau, due to the fact that buffaloers might accidentallly put their famous buffalo sauce in their hot cedric which would surely ruin it's choclatey taste.

S48 was the season of the podcasts here in the SHL and with increased audio competition comes the fight for Challenge Cup advertising! HO has asked you to create an audio add for a "Buffalo/Winnipeg preview" script to be aired on the radio. Create a '100' word hype add and then choose which podcast it will be appearing on and in 50+ words explain why you chose that podcast to air the script. (*Tag anyone involved)

ah yes i have often considered letting my silky voice bless the ears of the common shl plebian. for a rundown of the "Buffalo/Winnipeg preview" i would start with a beautiful classical music piece in the background, perhaps from the baroque era, one with a long name like schwitz waffle prelude coda #13 in c# double minor symphony sus4. first i would mention the most important position in hockey, the centreman of whom which whence the most exquisite plays and actions develop from. this would be run on the most classy and divine podcast on the entire shl and dare i say the entire universe, the bamba cast. the bamba cast is an exclusive broadcast of which many of the 1% (like I) have thrown trillions of billions of dollars to be part of. of course the cast le bamba only lets in the most great and handsome members which is why im still not invited.

When looking at the rosters of both Buffalo and Winnipeg there is one player that stands out as a talent that I would love to build a team around. [S46] Center - Monkey D. Luffy @TnlAstatine, is a sure fire top end center prospect that will look to be a staple in the Stampede offense for plenty of years to come. Luffy has been training hard in the the off season and in the SMJHL and is coming in to the SHL boasting a very strong 849 TPE. After posting two very successful seasons in the SMJHL during the S46 and S47 campaigns, Luffy didn't really take the next step like he would have hoped for in his final SMJHL season. Luffy wasn't able to surpass his old totals after being traded to the Anaheim Outlaws. Luffy still has a lot to prove but a player with that much talent is hard to miss on and we look forward to watching him excel in his first season with Buffalo.

With his rookie season now complete and not really putting up the numbers Zadina is used to posting during a season, he will look to really hit the gym hard this season and come out flying for the S49 season. We had the chance to sit down with Zadina to ask him what his plans for the off season would be and what he has said to his GM's and where he would like to improve his game.

Reporter: "Hey Filip, we know you didn't have the success you would have liked to have but you were a young rookie, what have you spoken to you GM about improving on next season."

Zadina: "I know I have an offensive touch and I know I can shoot the puck. I really want to work on the other aspects of my game so that I can climb my way up the depth chart and be an impact player nightly."

Reporter: "Which areas specifically did you talk about?"

Zadina: "I really want to focus on my skating and my puck skills, I want to be able to control the puck and make plays, not just bang home one timers."

Thank you for your time Filip.

Viktor Marius
Jason Visser
Lil Manius
Gary Grease
Slip McScruff

I believe that this 5 man fantasy line up gives me a lot of power house offense up front, With Marius, Visser, and Manius. I also believe I have okay scoring with Grease and McScruff but also have a very high hitting team which will help gather those points.

I have to lean with the blue line of the Buffalo Stampede this challenge cup. I just believe it has the ability to compete with the defensive side of the Jets, but also has the chance to outshine the Jets in the points departement. Obviously that isn't a sure thing but I like the offense the Stampede have carried this playoff run.

3. Winnipeg making it to the finals was an unexpected surprise. What were some of the main reasons why this franchise was able to persevere into the leagues most important series.  (*tag anyone involved)

I believe a big part of them going so deep in the playoffs was the player I said would need to step up in an earlier task. Viktor Marius I believe was a crucial part of the run that the Stampede took and I believe that he is easily what took them to the next tier.

4. Buffalo has made it to the finals in 2 of the last 3 seasons. Who or what has been a primary reason for the recent success of this franchise. (*tag anyone involved)

I think it just comes down to depth, they have a great team but can produce the entire way down the line up. As long as they can keep this core together they will continuously be a power house among the SHL and will have at least 1 or 2 more chances at bringing home another title.

5. Both franchises come into the series with a hot Cedric! Between Winnipegs Cedric Moreau and Buffallo's Cedric Robinson which emerging netminder has the advantage over the other in this series?

I have to lean Cedric Robinson, both goalies are very good between the pipes but Moreau is going to have to face a very powerful Stampede offense. I just think that in the end the rubber and high quality chances Moreau will see will be the undoing of the Jets.

Looking back at the previous Challenge Cups I think I will always look back at the S41 Finals as one of my favorite and one of the most exciting finishes in Challenge cup history. With the series tied 3 games to 3 and in the 3rd period and the West Kendall Platoon down 3 to 4 against the Los Angeles Panthers one player needed to step up. John Langabeer of the Platoon decided to make his mark on SHL history with only 5:33 left in the 3rd period Langabeer fired home a shot to tie the game late in the third period, but that wasn't all. Only 11 seconds later Langabeer walked down the wing and Ripped home his second goal of the game giving the Platoon the lead and there first Challenge Cup since S5. If you go back and ask Langabeer it is still the one moment in his career that he says he will never forget and always looks back on as his favorite moment.

If I have to choose a player from one of the teams in the finals this season to build a franchise around, it would be Noah Gallagher. Gallagher is an absolute stud and I witnessed it firsthand when he played for the St. Louis Scarecrows. Gallagher is a winner, and wants to be the best at every given night no matter what. From what I have heard he is a great locker room presence and his teammates seam to love him. Any team would be lucky to have him around. On top of that, he's so skilled. He was a dominant force in the minors and he's going to be a star at the next level as well. His first season in the SHL saw him go all the way to the challenge cup finals! This is the kind of guy that you want to build a franchise around, no questions.

CW TASK 5: (Written, up to 4 TPE)
1.1. Fantasy Team
C - Jason Visser (WIN)
W - Viktor Marius (BUF)
W - Dermot Lavelle (BUF)
D - Gary Grease (WIN)
D - Tatu Makela (BUF)
G - Cedric Robinson (BUF)

I think any fantasy team that includesd Jason Visser is going to dominate, no matter what. Visser has been an incredible pipece of the SHL and he continues to dominate this day. Dermot Lavelle is a solid winger and then you add Marius and you have an incredible first line team. Then at defense you have both a Jets and Stamepde defemseman who are incredibly proficient at what they do. After that you have Cedric Robinson who is basically a wall out there.

2. I believe the Buffalo Stampede's defender group will be able to handle Winnipeg's with great ease. While McClure, Grease and McScruff are solid players, they are outshined by the leadership and tenacity of Makela, Tanner and Walker. In addition, listing only those three defencemen from Buffalo is insane, because the fourth defenceman on Buffalo after those three is Alexis Metzler; who not only is always able to dominate the games he plays in, but is still the highest scoring defender on Buffalo these playoffs.

3. There are two major reasons for the Winnipeg Jets being as successful as they are. First off, their veterans have been outstanding. Jason Visser has dominated on a regular basis and continues to do so to this day. Without him leading the way, it is unlikely the Jets make it this far or even to the playoffs at this point. The second is the general managers who were able to quickly rebuild and make the team what it is today. When you look up and down at the roster you can't help but admire the work that the team has done to get them to this point, keeping them relevant throughout the years. The mix of veterans and youth has really mixed quite well and the way they all feed off each other to the point where it is likely the team will dominate for seasons to come. Can anyone even disagree?

5. At goaltending it is quite a toss-up between the two. If I had to pick between them I would pick Cedric Moreau, who is more of a veteran than Robinson. Despite the talent on Robinson's end, the fact that Moreau is older and wiser will be a major factor when it comes to the big time playoff games. Sometimes talent doesn't really matter as much when it comes to the ability to perform specifically in big game situations.

I intend to be a scoring winger, as I have been for every player I have made in the league. I like to score, so my scoring goes up and up no matter what. I decided to be winger, because as I said that is the same player I have always been and always will be no matter what, all day and every day. When it comes to a specific SHL player, I would probably be Jason Visser, a player I have talked about a lot. He led the league in goals scored last season and has been a prolific goal scorer for his entire career as far as I can tell. So why wouldn't I want to be that? I may not be the same type of player but I can still score all the goals. My biggest concern is how exactly am I to do that? I guess just put all my attributes into scoring?

I think the best player to build a franchise around right now is Bobby Sharp. With his on-ice ability allowing him to be such a threat on the wing right now, it's a no-brainer to pick him as a player to build my team around. Every good team in the SHL has an elite forward to help them really rise abover, and I think Sharp is the future for the Buffalo Stampede.

Off ice, I think Sharp has been a tremendous precense around the league and is a good updater to have on the updating team. With a player like Sharp in your prospect pool / on your team, it makes it a lot easier to attract elite talent due to having a player with the sheer skill as Sharp. The future is super bright for him, and I think that he will be a force to be reckoned with in the league in the future.

Hey JR and Glyc,

I wrote you, but you still ain't callin'. I think that my first season with the West Kendall Platoon has been a big success. I felt I took a big jump in my game, and with that being said, I definitely need to improve offensively to become a bigger threat to other teams. I feel I could do better, especially on the power play. Going forward, I think that my role should be the same - a top four defenceman who is offensively gifted. But I need to do better and slap some pucks home. My regular season was pretty good, but I was disappointed with my own performance in the playoffs.

With that being said, the future for the West Kendall Platoon is bright, and I'm happy to be a part of it. All hail the Platoon. Forever. Congrats on building such a solid team boys.

I think this team would absolutely merk every team in the SHL. It really is the perfect lineup of players in my eyes. There's a young future star in Bobby Sharp, a HOF Lock in Jason Visser, and a retiring legend in Crossfit Jesus. The defensive core balances offence and defence with Makela and Grease respectively, and Cedric Robinson is a phenomenal goaltender who can carry his team on his back.

I think currently, the Buffalo Stampede blue line would outshine Winnipeg's, but 2 seasons from now, I think that the Jets will be boasting such a great defensive core it will make them such a hard team to beat. Especially with Connor Tanner being a 1 season acquisition definitely makes a case for Winnipeg's defensive core being elite here. Makela and Walker are no slouches either, but they're getting up there in age while the Jets have Slip McScruff coming in as a young buck.

Winnipeg making it into the finals isn't super surprising for me. The western conference is a complete shit shoot, and with the Jets having as good of a top line that they have, it does make a lot of sense for them to be contending. Visser is easy a first ballot hall of fame player, and when you have him and Crossfit Jesus, who knows something about winning in the playoffs as well, it makes sense that they would be challenging for the Challenge Cup. @[crossfit jesus] @ToeDragon84

@WannabeFinn has been a great GM for the Stampede - albeit my dealings with him as GM have been not fantastic. With him at the helm, the Stampede have been a great team to watch for, and looking back at it, he was definitely the right choice of GM for that franchise, bringing it out of the abyss and bringing it to prominence.

I think that a Challenge Cup History report should be done on the dynasties of the SHL. Like the Calgary Dragons and the New England Wolfpacks of the S30s. How dominant their performances were and how the team was built. I think that those would be the most interesting reports that could be done (and maybe the future idea for an article or 2 of mine). With that being said, the indexes are down right now so I can't really pick any specific players or teams that were good, but I can tell you straight up that Esa and Eggy were 2 of the best GMs that this league has ever seen.

I would love to write a series on "how it was built" with those teams in mind. I think the user reception of these articles would be good as well so it does make sense for me to maybe work on it and create something that everyone can enjoy.
