Considering the Chicago Syndicate's off season began about halfway though season Fifty, Jack Kennedy has been raring to play some meaningful Simulation Hockey League games. While Jack Kennedy did get some games in this off season playing for Team Canada at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships. In seven years playing for Canada at the worlds, this was his best result with the bronze medal. New for usual Winger this year, was the fact Canada played him on defense during all situations on the ice-- the majority of his points coming on the power play. Now, Jack Kennedy is staying sharp by getting on the ice every day, so that when the time eventually does come, he will be close to game shape as you can get. In his down time, he watches a lot of NHL hockey and NFL football, always cheering on his fantasy players. He has also enjoyed the extra time with his family and trusty dog.

As soon as the lockout start Brady McIntyre went straight to the SHL's headquarters in... idk wherever you want to believe it is. I'm going with New York. Brady went straight to New York to demand what the lockout was for. It turns out that the SHLPA and the SHL HO couldn't agree on which set of rules to go by. The old rules which have been shown to be broken or the new rules which will require the HO to do some work and will create some interesting outcomes. He offered his help and spent hours working on ways to help the HO get things ready for the next season. After days he went home feeling helpful and accomplished. As soon as he got home he stepped onto the ice and it felt super weird. He no longer felt like an all star. He still has the passing skills but for some reason his shot just turned to garbage. He lso just wasn't as physical as he used to be. Fortunately it seemed like everyone else on the ice was just as regressed if not worse. It's going to be an interesting season when the SHL switches to the new rules finally.

WILD LOCKOUT FOR VLADISLAV KONSTATNIN!
Vladislav Konstatnin travelled back to MOTHER RUSSIA home of the EDMONTON OILERS for lockout season, and cheered them on throughout the whole time there. Not trying to hide away from his fame and glory achieved from his longterm tenure on the Texas RENEGADES, he would often be stopped on the side of the road by fans and Texans, asking "are you the vladislav konstantin?" to which he would reply, "no" The fun days were short lived however, as it came time for VLAD TO RETURN HOME TO TEXAS and hit the ice for practice ONCE AGAIN! Vladislav donned the yellow "no contact" jersey in drills, drawing the concern of his coach and teammates. "Kid said he had an upper body injury? like I guess?" says COACH DAN!! "tummy hurt from turkey D:" vlad replies, in a thick, Russian accent In short, VLAD has had a wet and wild offseason, and is ready to HIT THE ICE AGAIN when the SEASON STARTS!! 168 words artermis,Feb 2 2017, 04:11 PM Wrote:9gag pretty lit tho

A lockout? RIght when I was finally enjoying this league, suddenly there is a lockout and the league is finally stopping. Thankfully it seems like there are people in this league who are heavily invested in getting this right and fixing whatever mistakes occured and it will be be great to move forward with a new sim potentially. I think it's great for the league overall and they will come out of this with new strength. In this time of waiting, my player is able to finish progressing, I am hitting my minors cap and will now be banking the rest of the way which is kind of exciting. I am super excited to be called up one day and start contributing properly to my future team. It will be interesting to see what I can do this year as a capped player, hopefully I can contribute to the team and give them a good chance at a title in my last year.

Luckily Henrik Lekberg Osterman has had plenty of none SHL things to keep him occupied during the lockout so it hasn't affected him as much as some other players. He has had a chance to play in the IIHF as a defenseman for team Sweden, an experience that is always interesting and a great chance to develop parts of your game that you may not be thinking of or valuing as high as a forward, as well as currently playing in the WJC for team Sweden as a top line forward. As of the time of writing this, Sweden just beat Finland in OT in a fantastic game to start the medal rounds. He has also had a chance to take on more of a veteran leadership role on his SMJHL team, the Colorado Raptors. After losing in the finals last season it has been very beneficial for him to take an extended break from hockey that the lockout has created as well as having a chance to play in some international games to give the crushing loss some much needed distance.

Raquel Castillo Gutierrez hasn't really done anything too interesting this offseason. She's still doing her own workouts during the lockout, but outside of that she's just been playing some video games. Growing up she never really got the opportunity to have her own console due to her family's financial situation, but since becoming a professional hockey player she's gotten the chance to get into some games. She's played the Mass Effect series including Andromeda. She has even gotten her dad into Skyrim. Most of the time however, he just likes to watch her play some of these story based games.
Her personal workouts had been a bit of an issue for the first few days, but San Francisco Pride legend and fellow South Side-er Dakota Reid reached out to her to help Raquel out. Though not at all the same type of player, Koda thought that Rocky needed some guidance in her training if she could not get it from her team. Other then his day with the Cup which will be coming soon in an article piece, Prince Devitt spent most of his time back home in Ireland, training for his rookie SHL Season and also drinking a lot of beers and pints of Guinness. He was also able to meet up with his buddies in Japan because of this extended break in the SHL Off-season and ate at Ribera almost every day and drank Saki until he could have no more. He also got a chance to explore his new home in Calgary taking in the early winter weather that probably will take some getting used as Alberta has a really cruel weather schedule through out the year. He was also able to a final dinner with his teammates and buddies that he has spent in Kelowna for the past 3 seasons and picked up the tab for the group as a thank you for making him the player that he is today.

It has been a long offseason for Akira Ren, followed by a long lockout which has been rather disappointing for him. Ren wasn’t sure if he would move up to the big leagues to play with the Chicago Syndicate or return to the Lethbridge Lions for a final season. Ultimately with the acquisitions of The Dude and Ostap Maksimov, he was sent back down to Lethbridge. He was eager to be a top defenseman in the SMJHL and improve his passing game but then the lockout happened. During the lockout he learned that his playstyle is outdated and no longer effective in the SHL or SMJHL.
“Having a player who looks to pass the puck just isn’t something you want in this day and age, you just have to shoot every time the puck gets on your stick. Unfortunately shooting isn’t my strength and I like to pass too much” During the lockout Ren wanted to change his game to become more of a shooter but he was unable to. This led to considerable frustration for Ren and rumor has it he has turned into an alcoholic. Ren will probably play a depth role for the Lions this season due to his non ideal playstyle. Hopefully Ren is able to change his playstyle around at some point in the future or this lockout might be the first step towards his retirement. Sig Credits: Gorlab and Kylrad

Klaus was one of the loudest voices in the room concerning this season's lockout, and incidentally played a major part in it happening. His connection with the NHLPA was a major reason for the large push from the association to delay the season until a deal that benefitted smaller market teams could be made. Klaus did exactly that, but it took quite a bit of time to reach a final CBA. As far as the lockout went, the impact on Klaus himself was apparent from Tampa Bay fans, but more importantly in his game. This his preseason has been a mark of Klaus being ineffective, and out of his element on the ice. His seeming lack of dedication to the game could be due to the lack of support from the fanbase at the current time, but we hope more than anything that this changes quickly over the next handful of games and that Klaus is able to get back into tip top shape before the regular season kicks off.

I showed up to the arena to find the doors locked. After about 45-50 minutes of trying to climb in through various windows and sneak into back entrances, I decided to call up management to find out what gives. Turns out the season was postponed and no one had bothered to tell me until I had cut up my hand trying to break a window. With this new knowledge that my offseason had been extended, I went to the hospital to fix up my hand. While that healed, I spent a lot of time with video training and lower body work. Of course, I was not aware of when the lockout was going to end, as my texts with my SHL and SMJHL GM proved fruitless. Pre season started with me laying around on my couch at home, getting a call from the coach to let me know that the work stoppage had been solved, and no scab had taken my role as captain of Lethbridge. Also during the call, I was informed that the first game was going to be played in an hour and I needed to get to the rink. Got there with plenty of seconds to spare. The extended offseason could have been a blessing in disguise however, as all the little extra prep helps, even if I wasn't expecting this to be the way my final junior season would start.

Something that no one thought of in regards to the lockout was player involvement. Everyone blames Hamilton, and in truth, they arent wrong. It all started months ago when we decided we wanted to go on a vacation to disney land. We had it all planned out, unfortunatly league timing wouldnt work what with IIHF, training camp, and the season start. The only possible way we could get it to work was if there was a lockout. We worked with coach, who also wanted to go, and we organized a plan that resulted in what we needed, a break. We had a great time, some of us built lightsabers, others who we shall not name, were escorted out of epcot for getting too drunk in Germany. It was entierly worth everything and we would do it again dammit. The only regret I have is that we didnt take a day to go to Universal, apparently @aaronwilson is wizard enough for everyone and we didnt need to go to Harry Potter world, but next time, we are getting wands and no one will stop me.

Jules Watt thinks the lockout is silly. Who cares if people are shooting a lot, just block the shots, it's not that hard. Anyways, while league officials figure out how the league should play hockey, Jules Watt was busy grinding away at League of Legends, an online video game he seems to be addicted to. When asked about his problem by reporters, he responded "Dude it's the end of the ranked season and I'm silver 1. Yeah sure maybe I should be training to get better at hockey but who cares, it's not like we're gonna win anyways with Hamilton in the league. Plus all my skills will be useless next season when we start playing another sport in this league. I need that Victorious Aatrox skin and I got 3 days to get it. That's all the time I have for you right now, gotta get back on the grind." Reporters later say him hanging out and playing with fellow teammate Daniel Smeb.

So the SHL had a bit of a hiccup during the off-season. We were informed that things would be delayed to start the season, so plans had to be adjusted.
It's tough. You plan everything out so that you're ready for the season, but with this delay, things have to be stretched out. I've gotten more ice time under my legs. I want my legs to be ready for the start of the season so I've been organizing scrimmages with my teammates to try and simulate game speed. I know the layoff is going to affect the players speed and conditioning, so I want to get out ahead of that and try to get as close to game speed as possible. We've heard that the delay is nearing an end so hopefully the extra skating proves useful when the games start. It's never ideal to deal with delays of any kind, but I think my teammates and I used the time efficiently and we are more than ready to begin this season. (172 words)

Hugh Jazz during this delay worked on his shooting so he can take more shots and better shots in the SHL. He wants to be known as one of the better scorers of his generation and he wanted to put in the extra work to make sure that he is able to score 20 goals in the SHL and be a leader for the Steelhawks. He wants to win and feels like he could help the Steelhawks win this season and go deep in the playoffs. He wanted to spend more time working on his game so he can play with the other stars in the SHL. He had a good rookie season in the SMJHL, where he won rookie of the year. He now wants to step into the SHL and win rookie of the year and be one of the better players league-wide. A lot of people spending the extra time complaining about the happenings of the SHL but Jazz is built differently. He wants success and he wants as much as of it as possible.
