S56 mPT #0 - Bold (ish) Predictions

Neither expansion team will make the playoffs

How is this possibly bold? Expansion teams have such a massive hill to clime and a massive disadvantage compared to already well established teams in the league. Getting some castaways of other teams and higher draft picks that won't impact the team for a few seasons isn't going to make them have any real solid chance of coming close to the playoffs this season.

Quote:The Nevada Battleborn will win the Four Star Cup

This isn't a bold prediction by any means, we have a 350 capped defensive line up and a very solid top six along with an elite goaltending tandem. Even with our team being mostly 350 capped, we have a couple 425 capped players and a lot of the league had shake ups with call-ups so we are actually in a good position to go deep into the playoffs.

New Orleans will see a significant decline and barely make the playoffs

I think New Orleans will see a pretty substantial decline from their powerful season last time around but not to the point of missing the playoffs. The rest of the West simply isn't there yet, so New Orleans should still be able to keep their playoff spot quite safe

Tampa Bay will not finish with the worst record this season - San Francisco will
This isn't very bold. I can see how one would think so, but no. With San Francisco's huge punishment the team just doesn't have the chance to compete at even an average level. A great cap penalty makes sure they won't be able to keep any high-end players not on HTD. And on top of that. They'll have to play their backup goalie for almost half the games. They do have a serviceable backup. But they will definitely be down there with Tampa, competing for worst record.

Code:
The Toronto North Stars will finish with fewer points than the Seattle Argonauts
Also not bold. Come on now. Have you seen the division Toronto is in? They're gonna play most of their games against three teams all arguably in the top-5 in the league. A bold statement would be that Toronto actually wins one of their divisional games. Seattle has a lot more balanced opportunities to gain points than Toronto.

Code:
Neither expansion team will make the playoffs
Now this is bold. Much better. While Seattle will have to fight hard for it. There is absolutely 0 chance that Atlanta doesn't make the playoffs. With the strong FA and draft season they had. In the same division as three re-building or re-tooling teams. Atlanta will finish in the top-3 in their division unless something extremely unexpected happens.

Code:
Chicago will win the President's Trophy
Hmm... I like to think that last season was a fluke and they will perform a lot better this season. But no, they still won't win the President's Trophy. They're in a division with Buffalo and Hamilton, probably the top-2 teams in the league. I'm sure Chicago will put up a fight. But they'd have to be in a different division for a chance at this trophy.

Code:
Texas will be the top team in the Western Conference
No. I mean, anything can happen. But even with teams like New Orleans and Edmonton loosing key pieces in the offseason. I don't see Texas take over the Western Conference. Maybe in a few seasons. But right now the teams they're up against are simply better.

Code:
The winner of the McBride Award (top goaltender) will come from the Atlantic Division
This isn't bold at all. Seeing as this past season two of the nominations both came from the Atlantic Division. I wouldn't be surprised seeing the same thing again. If anyone Eller will give more chances this time around to stand out just a little bit more.

Code:
New Orleans will see a significant decline and barely make the playoffs
In their division they won't "barely" make the playoffs. They'll make it no problem. They're in a 4-team division where three teams make the playoffs. And two of the teams are San Francisco and Los Angeles. Both teams that recently fell apart.

Code:
The long reign of Edmonton and Calgary is over - neither of these teams will finish the season atop the Northwest Division standings
Edmonton I can see. They lost a lot this offseason. But they're still an incredible team. Calgary on the other hand will still be fighting for #1. They're a very packed team still and will have no trouble against most teams in the league.

Code:
Neither Buffalo nor Hamilton will make the Challenge Cup finals
Damn, this is a hot take. I can't see this come true. One of them has to make it. Just look at their lineups. If this comes true I'd almost claim FHM to be as random as STHS.

Monkey D Luffy, extra TPE and all, will have a worse season than he did in S55
It's a tough call. With Scarn gone more of the offense will go through Luffy. But also, without Scarn he'll have less help to get to the point totals he reached. I have to agree with this prediction. Luffy will be good but doesn't have the tools around him anymore to get 72 points.

Correct. Not a hot take as San Francisco (my team) are currently also in a massive rebuild and shipping everything they can off to look to the future. Both teams will struggle and it will be close between them but it could go either way

"Someone from the S53 draft class will win rookie of the year"

I mean that player would have the most amount of TPE so it wouldn't be surprising at all if someone from that class won. I'm S54 and this is my last eligible season down, so I would assume this is true at least.

Someone from the S53 draft class will win rookie of the year

Yeah, I don't feel like this is that bold of a statement. I feel like there are quite a lot of S53 guys that are going to be rookies this seasons vs any other class. Plus, there are quite a few high TPE earning players included in that set of people. I can easily see someone from the S53 draft class winning rookie of the year.

Not a bold prediction. While the two teams are quite similar in TPE, the Pride has more absurdly low TPE players who will drag their team down. The Pride also don't have the privilege of sharing a division with the Baltimore Platoon, who are the only team that Tampa and San Francisco are even close to this season.

This is not all that much of a bold prediction in my opinion. San Francisco endured some pretty hefty penalties from the league and it will come as no surprise to me, should they finish in the SHL basement.

I'm going to assume this is the draft class that I'm in, even though I actually have no idea. As much as I'd love to blab on about how great Erben Kasius is once again, I'm going to change it up and say this is absolute silliness because Steve Harrington is apparently the first 1000 TPE rookie in league history and will be playing for a pretty stacked Buffalo team. This seems like a given to me even though Lee is a F tier linemaker

Seattle, I'm pretty sure has no chance of making the playoffs. They have a great D-core but their offence sucks. Atlanta seems to be a much more well-rounded team and I think they will at least be competing against New England for third in the division.

There will be no major scandals during the season

I really hope that this will be the case, but on the other hand we are the SHL. We do need those scandals to survive and we do have NOLA they will find somethimg if nothing happens till the playoffs.

Fully against. I'm in one of these teams and I think that expansion team GM's are very good to reach Play-Offs. If someone thinks that they are bad and low, then we can meet on the ice to prove who is wrong.

Not sure if this was there by mistake or why would anyone even remotely consider this as bold, guess some kind of above average temperature mammal ran out of ideas. But that said it is not bold because it is rookie class that have been playing down for 4 seasons and only one older coming up would have had to pass waivers last seasons so they won't be max earners, while as the S53 has 19 players currently between 900 and 1k TPE, some might have been playing a season in SHL already but there should be plenty of good players that can fight for the top rookie award, including three players from Texas, Burlok Sulfurgold, Edward Williams and Eric Hudson.

Tampa Bay will not finish with the worst record this season - San Francisco will

I mean Tampa seems to finally be heading up rather than no where, but even with San fran losing what they have, It's still tampa's title to lose. With a stronger eastern conference to contend with, I think the top teams still feast on the barracuda and they remain at the bottom of the food chain.
