S57 mPT #1 - Offseason Moves

For me most notable has to be Adam Barron getting traded to Toronto as it likely is the move that finally pushes Toronto within reach of rest of the great lakes (though likely still takes one more season to get above any of them)

@"RotticusScott" ,"The offseason move that stands out to me is the Hamilton Steelhawks calling up the future of their franchise, Rotticus Scott. This kid is built different, and will kill it in the SHL."
SIIIIIIIIIIIIKE THE BEST OFF SEASON MOVE IS CALLING UP BIG DADDY CHAD BORK LAZER AND NOT THE SISSY BOY ROTTI US SCOTT. BORK LAZER WILL WIN THE JESTER AND NOT YOU. FIGHT ME IRL FOOL. ONR V ONE SHIPMENT. FACEOFF ON THE ICE, SHOOT OUT YOU NAME IT HOMIE I OWN YOU.

love you.

Future Buffalo super star Emilia Bergman is the biggest thing since sliced bread. Impact from day one and the aura of an already veteran player.
SHL, you better watch out.

RETIRED

I think the move that impacts me the most is my player being signed by the Manhattan Rage. Although not doing very well, he is still young and should be a good pickup for the future if they stay with him. Guy LeGrande likes it there.

It doesn't happen to often that one of the biggest moves of the off-season is an IFA signing but I have to go with my own team here and the signing of Poopity Scoop, a highly decorated Defenseman who has only just started regression and should provide a big boost to one of the more shallow bluelines of the last season.

One of the great moves of the offseason was everything that led to the Monarchs selecting Arsene Leclerc 2OA. That kid will be a superstar and wanted to play for Minny and they realised his dream with some trades.

The tampa bay barracuda made a great offseason move this offseason by signing our contracts and pondering if we should go after IFA Poopity Scoop, which we ultimately decided no. It was a great move because we can now afford to pay our players more money which helps them develop.

Clearly the biggest move this offseason was the Toronto North Stars making a blockbuster trade for Adam Barron. I fully expect Barron to blow up his previous highs as he gets a D partner who will allow him to focus on dominating the offensive end of the ice.

I think the Seattle Argonauts had a really good draft this. Especially our first round pick seems like a really good choice and I think will be a huge superstar for us one day.

Speaking with a little bit of bias here, especially as I'm the co-gm of Baltimore, but we had one of the best off-seasons in a long time. This off-season we called up a lot of rookies, picked up two solid prospects (even if one is much maligned) and signed an active skater (also much maligned). What this has done is reinvigorate our team that is absolutely stuffed with actives. People outside of the team have been reacting negatively to these two signings but so far these two have been enjoying a breath of fresh air amongst a new crowd. Our rookies coming in know that we're in it for the long haul but are excited for the bright future this team holds. With an active team of players, we can foster friendly competition in TPE acquisition which in turn makes the team grow together as a whole. Add to all of this the re-signings of Krashwagen, Duncan and Del Vecchio. This team is set for the future in a single off-season.

Some people do smart things by making moves. Others do smart things by sitting around on the couch. Tampa you can say sat around on the couch, wearing nothing but a few day old pair of tighty whities. Aside from trading the 1OA pick to NEW, nothing has changed. Existing prospects and players are bumping up their TPE. Other than that, business as usual. No reason to get up off the couch (unless you need another beer). Sit tight, were in for a ride. Now if only I could find the remote.....

Edmonton made an offseason splash by solidifying their blue line by signing free agents Eric Vanderberg and Chico Smeb. Call-up Axel Foley (SMJHL Defensemen of the Year winner) will also be sharing minutes for the first time in his career. Edmonton's defense was a weak spot last season, although Scholz was a top producing offensive defenseman and FR Finn-Rhys was a top preventing defensive defensemen, the other four were relatively unproductive. It is rumored that Edmonton bid on some expensive free agents, but eventually ended up with some awesome value picks which will give them a major TPE boost and save some budget to pay Eddie Ask jr.

As someone who's soon making the jump to SFP, it was nice to see them draft a bunch of good players who have immediately brought more life to the locker room. Made the future instantly look way brighter!

The Anchorage Armada were able to bring in some great new rookies through the draft, and while it isn’t always the biggest impact, I do believe that these guys can help get us over the hump to win the SMJHL Cup this year.

A season after Buffalo lost more than 6000 in TPE through the subtractions of EVO, Scarn, and Darrow, Buffalo experienced some more roster turnover this season by losing longtime Stampede Poopity Scoop, as well as veteran defencemen in Tuck and Vanderberg. Buffalo retooled their defence corps by focusing on younger players, calling up Emilia Bergman and Aumy Jr., and giving Zlatan Imbrahimovic Jr. a fair-sized deal in free agency. Ultimately, this should pay off long term for the Stampede, although it could prove troubling at the start of the season. Ultimately, LAP might've made the best moves by giving Scoop a nearly 8M contract that should help bolster their horrid defence.
