Breaking News! Vancouver Whalers tough guy get into bar brawl: Knocks out Many
The phenom rookie defenseman out of Fucking, Austria isn't just a goon on the ice, he can take care of a dust up in your local watering hole. Zayne Rotzbua was enjoying a few brewskis with a his bros when some degens from Carolina country started getting into trouble and harassing bartenders and fellow customers alike. With the bouncers happy to do seemingly nothing about it the Austrian brawler decided to take things into his own hands. Amazingly he made quick work of those east coast kids as he had them all tossed out within minutes. Unverified rumors from fellow patrons at the bar said he did it all with a beer in his dominant hand and never spilled a single drop. Rotzbua refuses to comment or even acknowledge the incident so that may be all the info we have for this matter.

Welcome to the Knightly News where we have a quick interview into the life or Roboute Guilliman!
R: So Roboute tell us a bit about yourself! G: Well I am one of 20 kids in my family, all boys. And growing up inherited my father’s skills at leadership. I also had an uncanny ability to play hockey, as if I was genetically created to be good at everything. I do my best to live up to his expectations. Which can be grueling at times. He is often referred to as the Emperor of Mankind. Scary title for a scary man. I didn’t end up playing in many Junior leagues but was coached privately by many of the top coaches in the world thanks to the influence of my father. R: Wow that's quite the family life! Outside of Hockey what are some hobbies of yours? G: Well I have always had a fascination with flaming swords, big bulky armor, and guns. Lets just say my childhood was never boring. But with 20 kids it made for some great fake battles.

Reporter: Good morning Switzerland! Since we are all home bound these days, I have the great honor to be able to video interview a former child star Yan Dolff! As many of you know, Yan is known as a gladiator of sorts, but much is still unknown about his training techniques. In hopes to inspire our youth and hockey development program, we hope he can share some helpful pointers! Hello Yan, welcome to the program
Yan: Yes, very good to be here. Thank you for having me on. Reporter: It’s our pleasure. So please, tell us, what was your secret to building up your body into peak hockey form? Yan: Well as you know, I grew up in the highest town in Switzerland, Avers, which has gifted me high altitude training for free! I would immediate urge any interested in hockey to move up, up and up! Reporter: We all know of your love for the cold, mountainous regions, but how did you play hockey on the slopes? Yan: Ah, we are lucky who live up here. Since it is almost never warm, the lakes are almost always frozen year-round, so training is never an issue. And the pucks! They take only a moment to freeze, but sting even harder if you get whacked with one. Reporter: We are almost out of time, any last-minute tips? Yan: Mountain goat milk. Only. No other forms of liquid. Reporter: Ok…wasn’t expecting that, but there you have it folks. The key to success is mountain goat milk! 259 words Detroit Falcons: S57 - S59

So, Ole, how do you feel about your experience so far? You've just moved all the way across the Atlantic to Carolina to play for the Kraken; what experiences have you most enjoyed?
Yes, Charlotte is much bigger than my home of Notodden. It is also very warm compared. I have enjoyed the breweries here quite a bit, but the traffic is not nice. Overall, it has been very good to be here and I am very excited to play for the Kraken. What have you been doing in your time off the ice? I have visited the mountains to the west and also gone east to the beach. It is a very pretty state. The people are very nice, so I have been visiting the local breweries and having good fun. I have gone to Carowinds which was a lot of fun, too. There are some good museums, too. I want to attend some other local sports teams soon, too.

Reporter: Hi Noel, welcome to Colorado! How are you settling in?
Blanchet: Thank you! I'm settling in well. It's definitely different living here than in Canada or France, but I'm enjoying it. I love the wide variety of food here, and the mountain backdrop is amazing. Reporter: How about with your new team, how are things going there? Blanchet: Things are great so far. The Colorado organization is just filled with awesome folks from top to bottom. The management has treated me very well and really helped me settle in this new city, and my teammates are great. Mostly I've been hanging out with my fellow rookies, especially Leon Schweingruber as he's my roommate. With him being from Switzerland we've kind of both bonded on being from Western Europe. Reporter: With Christmas approaching, what are your plans? I presume your family is back in France? Blanchet: Yes my family is back in France, I'll be staying in Colorado as we still have games during the holidays. During my time in Saint John I always threw a French themed Christmas party for the boys, I think I will probably do that again this year with the Raptors. It's a great opportunity to bond and get to know each other better and I can introduce them to some of my culture. Reporter: That's great, thanks for your time Noel and good luck with the rest of the season! Blanchet: Thank you! Credits to OrbitingDeath, Tweedle, Incite, Wasty, and Slothfacekilla for sigs! Reporter: Welcome back! We've had a chance to sit down with one of Colorado's young rookies out of Swtizerland, Ruedi Huber to get some insight into how he's acclimatizing to both the league and his new home. So Ruedi, how are liking things in Colorado so far?
Ruedi Huber: I love it here! I grew up on a farm in Switzerland not far from the alps, so having a view of the Rockies here has really helped me feel settled. The fans have been not only extremely supportive but very friendly as well. It's been a smooth transition overall. Reporter: Glad to hear that Ruedi. Your english is very good, when did you start learning the language and has that been a challenge for you at all so far, although judging from our conversation so far I'd be inclined to say no. Ruedi Huber: Haha, thank you! My mother grew up in England and taught me English from a very young age, so I've been speaking it most of my life. I also had the opportunity to study it in school. Reporter: Last question for you, we have to speak about the team quickly. The Raptors have been off to a very hot start, what do you think are some of the keys to your success? Ruedi Huber: We play as a unit. Yes, we have our standout players and a very good goaltender behind us, but when we win it's by committee, which includes our many rookies stepping up and putting in the effort early on. Reporter: Well, there you have it, that was Ruedi Huber of the Colorado Raptors, thanks for tuning in. Sending it back to you Crystal.

We're here with Shion Okamoto, one of the rookie defensemen for the Newfoundland Berserkers.
Reporter: Being new to the SMJHL, how has your experience been in the locker room? Okamoto: It's a really welcoming and fun group of guys to be around. I'm just glad to be a part of the team and get things going out on the ice. It's been great getting to know everyone, you have to be really tight with those guys you're going out to battle with. Reporter: How would you describe your leadership style? Okamoto: Well right now as a rookie, I'm not looking to take an immediate stand in the locker room. I'm just looking to gel with the team for now. I want to let my play on the ice speak for itself, and gain respect from that. However, I've got lots to improve on in my rookie season to get to that point. Reporter: Great, thank you for joining us today. Sonata is slowly cracking his shell this season, putting up some decent numbers in his first season as a winger. Why as a winger and not as a centerman, his natural position? Only he would know...
Come to think of it, nobody really knows who Sonata Diamante is, besides the Colorado Raptors and it's fanbase... the local media should give him a call! Reporter: Hey Sonata, how's this season been threating you compared to the last one? SD: It's been pretty good so far, team has been playing pretty well and I feel like I've been more implicated. Reporter: You're playing as a winger now and not a centerman now, why the change? SD: Management saw it as the only way to play up in the lineup. I'm pretty happy with it, got great linemates so it's been pretty fun. I still practice faceoffs and positioning in practice though. Reporter: Where's your favorite rink to play in the SHJML? SD: Colorado obviously!! Fans have made more noise for us this season than the last, so it's more energizing to the team and on some nights we put on a good show for them. Reporter: You got drafted by San Francisco, how long until you think you'll go up there? SD: Who knows? Only time will tell, but for now, my priority is winning in Colorado. I have a lot of learning and my best seasons are somewhere ahead! Reporter: That's awesome to hear! Well, we wish you luck Sonata, I'm sure we'll be speaking to you someday soon! SD: You bet! I'll hold that to you. 280 words

Reporter : Hello, it is a pleasure to see you here Ako Zīle.
Ako : Hello, it is a pleasure to be here myself. Reporter : The first question will of course be about relocation. Was it easy to move from Latvia to Vancouver? Ako : First of all, I would say that it was nice to move to Vancouver, because here I will be able to have more experience. Secondly, I was sorry to leave my country, the city, because I had lived there my whole life, but I am aware that it is all for myself. Reporter : OK good. So you are the center player, why did you choose to be the center? Or did anyone suggest this position? Ako : I chose the position by myself because I really like reaction games. It takes a reaction to win a faceoff, so I really like being a center player. At the beginning I was advised to choose the position of the defender, but I prefer to throw at the goal rather than share passes. Of course, as a center, I can definitely give passes, make a game to form a goal, because this is a team game. Reporter : What skills would you like to learn here in Vancouver to become a better striker? Ako : Definitely, I would like to improve my palm throw, to be more accurate, because at the moment the throw is supposedly good, but not enough to beat the goalkeeper with a simple throw. Definitely I need to improve my faceoff, because looking at the statistics at the moment, I win around 30-40% of faceoffs, which is certainly not the worst figure, but I want to improve these statistics to at least 60-70%. As well as speed and stamina. If all this will be improved, then I guarantee that my game and statistics will increase. But of course I have to train a lot and gain game practice to get better. Reporter : OK, thanks for the interview. Good luck. Ako : Thanks! /334 words/

Reporter: Hello Mr. Golden Face, thank you for joining us
Golden: My pleasure reporter: Everyone knows you from the Movie threat level Midnight, what are some things fans may not know about you? Golden: Well as you know I used to work in a gold mine, where we had to eat the gold because our boss wouldn’t give us lunch breaks, which is how I got this golden face Reporter: I’ve heard, how does that translate into your relationship with Michael Scarn and Hockey? Golden: I just believe that workers should be well compensated and treated right. Its why I blew up those all start games accidently killing Scarns wife. But im deeply remorseful about the situation which is why I’ve joined the SHL. Reporter: How does joining the SHL help with your remorse? Golden: I’m going to use my feelings of regret and remorse to get to the big leagues and either become teammates with Michael Scarn or steal championships from him until he forgives me for killing his wife so my pain and sadness can go away Reporter: wow, that’s really deep and considerate, I wouldn’t have expected that Golden: Just because we’re Evil Villians doesn’t mean we’re bad people Reporter: Well that’s all I have Mr. Golden Face, Thank you for you time Golden: thank you, stay Golden

Good morning everyone and thanks for tuning into another episode of "players personality" where we dive into not only what the players do on the ice but also how they spend their time not laced up. Today we have Jesse Trudeau from the Newfoundland Berserkers joining us.
R- Hello Jesse and thanks for taking the time to answer a few of our questions this morning before your games later Trudeau- No problem at all i'm always happy to be on the show, what can I do for you today? R- Well first thing I wanted to ask is how lucky do you feel being from Canada and being able to play for a great Canadian team like Newfoundland? Trudeau- Oh it's amazing! I couldn't ask to be on a better team and the guys are great as well R- That's great to hear Trudeau, how about outside of the rink? Living in Newfoundland must be pretty good? Trudeau- Yeah for sure it's great just a little different from Ottawa where I grew up but I can still go home for the holidays to see my family, we have always been close and they're very important to me. Out here whenever we go out to celebrate after a win all the guys love dragging me to this local fish shop but man let me tell you I can't even stand the smell of fish without getting queasy, I'v been trying to slowly get them to come to this local burger and shake place with me but they're too worried about it being "unhealthy" and "fattening" Two words I have never heard before in my life. R- Great to hear you and your team are getting along and good luck getting them out for milkshakes, Thats all the time we have but thanks again Trudeau and we will be back next week, same time same place Trudeau- Thanks for having me Joe! 329 Words

Reporter: We are pleased to have with us a member of the Citadelles, Brian Davenport. Thanks for joining us Brian.
FR: Nous sommes heureux d'avoir parmi nous un membre des Citadelles, Brian Davenport. Merci de nous rejoindre Brian. Davenport: Thank you. FR: Merci Reporter: First thing we want to ask is how are you adapting to the city of Quebec and have you had any trouble learning French? FR: La première chose que nous voulons vous demander est comment vous adaptez-vous à la ville de Québec et avez-vous eu du mal à apprendre le français? Davenport: I feel right at home here in Quebec, everyone has been warm, accepting and friendly. My french could be better but I wager after a year or two here I should be able to converse better than I am now. I love Quebec, I love the people and of course the history. I am a big history buff and Quebec is a city with great history. Reporter: You're a history buff, so you are probably a staple at some of the city's museums. What about night life, do you dabble in the night scene? FR: Vous êtes un passionné d'histoire, vous êtes donc probablement un incontournable de certains musées de la ville. Et la vie nocturne, vous mêlez-vous de la scène nocturne? Davenport: I get out with teammates of course and sometimes when were back in town I hit the bar for a drink or two but never too much. I'm not a big drinker, more of a social one. But I do try to hit the movie theaters. I am a big movie buff. Reporter: Well we hope you enjoy your stay here in Quebec however long or short and we wish you luck in pursuing the Four Star Cup. Brian Davenport, thanks for joining us. Davenport: Thank you for having me. FR: Merci de me recevoir.

As the season has started up, we have seen many new faces around the SMJHL from the latest draft. One of the teams that has seen a couple of newcomers joining the ranks is the Carolina Kraken. I had an opportunity to sit down with one of the rookies and get a sense of how they are adapting to the new life of professional hockey in a new city.
-I am amazed by the size of everything, the buildings, the roads, and everything in the stores, the Swede Tomas Lind says. Everything back home is really flat and spread out. Tomas is the Kraken’s second pick from this year’s draft, going first in the second round. He has gotten off to a slow starting the first 10 games of the season, producing 1goal and 3assists and a -9 in plus minus. -It has been a tough transition, moving continents. Everything is so different from back home so it will take some getting used to, he continues. It’s reassuring to have so many teammates in the same situation. The players from last year’s draft are also relatively new and know how they felt during the start of their first season. They have been really helpful! The Kraken see themselves in fourth place in the East with a relatively young team consisting of 6 rookies and 6 sophomores. -I think we can do better. I think I can perform better, Tomas says confidently. We just need to get to know one another on the ice. Tomas shows a calmness during the interview, but his words indicate a passion for the game that will be interesting to see as the season progresses. Code: Words:295 |
