Howdy SMJHL community!
So, this has been a long time coming. Every season we run into the issue where we have numerous DFAs in the League who are excited and want to be involved, but can't do much, if anything. After getting feedback from some of our DFAs we reached out to MutedFaith & the SMJHL PT Department to create the following opportunity for DFAs. Tl;Dr: PTs specifically for DFAs that give money instead of TPE.
The way it works is that from the Trade Deadline to the posting of the first task completable for TPE, whether that be the Interested Prospects Threads, Early Bird PT, Mock Draft, etc., DFAs will be able to complete weekly DFA Bounties. These Bounties will function practically identically to PTs, but with money instead of TPE, and will be posted by the J PT Team. By writing 150 words250 words or completing a graphic for a certain prompt, DFAs will earn $1 million$500k for their bank accounts. These topics will range from anything relating to the background of their new player, what brought them to the League, their thoughts on teams in the J, and so on, and will be capped at a maximum of 4 completed bounties.
This will be starting this upcoming TDL, and will close upon the posting of the first PT task available to a class.
F.A.Q.
Quote:Why?
One of the most frequent complaints we receive is that DFAs don't have much, if anything, to do. We needed to change that.
Quote:Why money over TPE?
If we allowed DFAs to complete tasks for TPE then that would risk overcorrecting the situation and creating serious imbalances in classes. While it's possible we could then correct the overcorrection by modifying Catch-up TPE, the simplest and fairest solution in our eyes was to focus on money and not TPE.
Quote:What made you choose $1million over $500k or more?
Money for equipment and training is already one of the hardest hurdles to overcome for any new user. This opportunity helps cover their training in a consistent manner with some left over, without completely invalidating the inevitable grind that comes with max earning. We are aware that Rookie Tasks are available to them as well, but those are more gated in terms of actual tasks due to reliance on streams, PTs, etc. This is outdated, it is now $500k per payout. So I guess the answer would be feedback or peer pressure, depending on your perspective.
Quote:Who can do these?
Only DFAs of that season's class.
Quote:Why call them Bounties?
An alternative name that came up in our discussions was MT, Money Tasks. However, it was possible this could lead to confusion between MT, PT, mPT, and truth be told we already have plenty of acronyms in the SHL, SMJHL, WJC, IIHF, PTs, mPTs, for TPE, and so on. Plus I've been trying to get something named Bounties created in the League forever.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh, stop hotdog that makes too much sense

The only disparity created would be based on monetary income which is not as impactful as the large TPE discrepancies we saw. While money can be difficult to come by in the League, and we can continue to ease that if people feel that is needed, I'd argue that TPE discrepancies lead to more harmful impacts on those on the lower end of the scale than bank accounts. Our focus here was mostly to give DFAs more things to complete special to them, since not having anything to do was the most overwhelming complaint we received from feedback.

Ya real in the fucking ridiculous payouts. It's better to be a fucking rookie than a simmer in terms of site pay. In what world does that make sense?

Hey, we can increase simmer pay in addition to the PT pass. We'll open a discussion on that, thanks for the feedback
I feel like money and TPE aren't even really comparable? Rookie tasks help to make the first season a lot easier, and it's not like money after a certain point does much so it doesn't really hurt to hand it out vs handing out large amounts of TPE.

I think the simmer pay go up and PT pass would be perfect!
Drafted 2nd round 21st Pick by the Winnipeg Jets in S55 SHL Entry Draft
GM of the UCORCAL in the WJC S55
S55 WJC Gold Medalist GM/Player for UCORCAL
Management Role for Russia in the IIHF
Recent Management Role / Head Coach for Winnipeg Aurora in SHL
9 mil for rookie tasks, 5 for contract (3 + 2 HO Bonus), plus 3 or 4 bounties?
There was 3ish weeks between TDL and end of season last season.
So around 18 mil for new players.
Isn't there a worry this will take away from media postings or site jobs applications? If people have the money, and are doing all of these prompts, that's going to burn people out on writing more media
Also, 150 words for 1 mil is incredibly cheap and easy. If DFAs want something to do, at least make them work for their earnings.

Wouldn’t it just be easier for media prompts? If DFA’s write the media prompt they get a 500k bonus or something. If you are writing words for money then 150 for 1 mil is a large number. Especially if we want to continue with trying to drive media. If people want to do stuff during that process just write media

Great idea sparky. Kal and Smith will both receive raises! If only we had another simmer that could take advantage of such a great deal!
