Edmonton's first round opponent is the fading dynasty Chicago Syndicate. Chicago is an excellent team, probably favored to sweep the lowly Blizzard and move on easily to the second round. Edmonton, however, has a slightly silly number of rookies on their team, and as such are a much better team now than we were at the start of the season. To start off this Cinderella run, we squeak past the Syndicate in a game seven overtime. Just as the SHL threatens to make Chicago's epic chokejob against a terrible eighth seed the league's freshest meme, the Blizzard put everyone on notice. Texas took this one a little too lightly. Maybe they didn't bother doing their full prep for the meme team, maybe they spent too much time looking ahead to whichever of Calgary or Los Angeles they'd meet in the conference final. Whatever the reason might have been, the Renegades got punched in the mouth by a scrappy little Blizzard team and blew it in five. In the WCF, who should face the Blizzard but their archrivals down south, the Calgary Dragons. The Battle of Alberta commences, and the stakes could not legally be higher. Winner gets a shot at the Cup, loser goes home. Edmonton gets a shot at the Cup, Calgary goes home, after six hard fought games. The Buffalo Stampede came out of the gauntlet that is the Eastern Conference, looking for more glory to add to their recently extensive list. Unfortunately for them, multiple consecutive Finals runs and a brutal playoff schedule took their toll on the Stampede in a way the fresh-faced Blizzard couldn't yet even understand. Edmonton tires out and defeats the Stampede in six games. The Edmonton Blizzard are your Season 62 champions.

Prompt #2

The Perfect Playoff Tree for the Berserkers would be as follows.

Round 1: Bye ... because why get tired in the first round and potentially get beat by @G2019 and the In-Laws
Round 2: Maine Timber ... because everyone loves a good chop, especially @HabsFanFromOntario who knows better than anyone that the best 5 characters to ever type into discord are !chop
Round 3: Ancourage Armada ... because no one wants more boats, we need less boats, less pollution, and less times for @High Stick King to be able to flaunt his love of water to the rest of us land bound people.  We like our water frozen, with skates.
Round 4: Vancouver Whalers ... lets face it, you don't win in the SMJHL during the 60s without having to face Vancouver, and no better time than in the finals to get some redemption on last season.  The Berserkers have their eye on the 4 star cup this year, and don't plan to let it slip away.

MVP: Gotta go with the @DrB1gMackhimself!

Prompt 2

The playoff bracket this year is an interesting one for the Pride. It's the first time in long while where we've had a pacific division opponent guaranteed for the first two rounds. Everyone knows how close the pacific has been these last few years so with some good luck the spot in the top 4 can be anyone's. From there, it's just two short series away from a challenge cup. In the first round we're facing Los Angeles. Focussing on the latter half of the season, we saw some very close, low-scoring games between these two teams. If the Pride are able to pick up the offensive pace and score more than a few goals, we should be able to win. Next, we will likely face Calgary, who we were better against at the beginning of the season. We'll need to once again focus on picking up the goal scoring pace since it's already been established that our defence can handle things. For the third round, our chances against Texas look a lot better based on regular season results, so seeing them would be optimal. Finally, on the path to winning the challenge cup, the Pride are most likely to see a team such as Baltimore, who we actually managed to beat one of two times this season. This gives San Francisco a tough but possible path to the top.

Prompt 2
The zerks had a great regular season, we were two points away from both Anchorage and Vancouver who were tied for first and the zerks easily led the league in goal differential at +113. With a comfortable first round bye, we got some time to kill before we start crushing the competition in the playoffs. The second round of the playoffs have to start with a sweep of the Main Timber, there is no other reality possible. NL has been crushing Maine continuously season after season in the playoff and it's even funnier every time, they only escaped last year because they didn't get a spot in the playoffs. Next match-up is a replay of the season 60 finals with the same result, a 4 - 2 victory for Newfoundland over Anchorage; they may have won in points but NL is a defensive powerhouse ready to sink ships. Lastly is the final, where NL will have a season 61 finals rematch against Vancouver  who lost a lot of talent in the offseason. This one will definitely have a different result and go to game 7 with NL winning it all for their second cup in the last three seasons.

The Calgary Dragons surprised everyone again by beating the over in the casino once again to qualify for the playoffs. In the first round they are up against the Seattle Argonauts. This should be a nice matchup for the Dragons as they are clearly the better team here and I expect Calgary to win the series 4-2. In the second round it will probably be a rough matchup against the Los Angeles Panthers. The Panthers have edged Calgary out of the division title this season and look eager for payback for their previous playoff hurt in previous seasons. Though I think Calgary has this one. A game 7 decision with a hat trick from Alexis Saint Michel. In the conference finals it will most likely be a matchup against Chicago. Not easy, but also a game 7 win for Calgary. In the cup final Calgary will humiliate Hamilton by sweeping them 4-0.

PROMPT 2- If you don't understand the previous prompt or that one doesn't sound fun to write about, try this prompt.

Written Task: Yeah the prompt 2s this season were boring as fuck, but that's how it goes when you try to be vanilla for everyone. But lets use our imagination here. If you are in the SHL playoffs/SMJHL playoffs, you want to win it all probably. So, do just that. Describe a playoff tree that has you winning all rounds en route to the cup. What opponents did you beat along the way? In how many games? Who was MVP and how did you do? If you aren't on a playoff team right now.... fuck it. Just put your team in for another team. Who cares? (150+words)

Round 1 - Great Falls Grizzlies vs. Nevada Battleborn

Despite losing the first 2 games at home, the Grizzlies battle back with 3 straight wins. Nevada takes Game 6, which means GFG returns home for Game 7. Grogu scores 4 times as the Grizzlies win in OT to advance to the second round

Round 2 - Great Falls Grizzlies vs Anchorage Armada

The Grizzlies are on a high and steal the first 2 games at Anchorage, sending that team into a scramble. Despite line changes, the Boats can't find any traction and the Grizzlies shock them by taking both games at home for a resounding sweep. Brick Wall gets 2 shutouts in this series. Grogu gets 4 hat tricks to lead the way for Great Falls.

Round 3 - Great Falls Grizzlies vs Vancouver Whalers

The Grizzlies are looking for revenge after getting unceremoniously dumped by VAN in last season's playoffs. It is a tough series as the Grizzlies have to shut down the SMJHL leading scorer, but they find a way and take the series in 7 games. Lebebdbdebv is decked by Tumovs with just seconds to go in the last game to end his career with a severe concussion.

Round 4 - Great Falls Grizzlies vs Newfoundland Berserkers

The Zerks were a dominant team all season but they too fall victims to the Grizzly Train, they get salmon smacked in 5 games and the Grizzlies are your 4 Star Cup Champions!! In just their second season of existence, the Grizzlies begin a dynasty in which they win 7 straight cups. Montana never had it so good before!

Task 2:

Seattle Argonauts begins it playoffs on the first round against Calgary Dragons. Season series was pretty even. Dragons won four games and Seattle three if I remember correctly. That's why also this first round match-up would be very tight but in the end Seattle would go through in seven games. In the last match I would assist the game-winning goal on overtime and captain Darrow would score it from the blueline. On the second round the opponent would be Los Angeles or San Francisco. Because Philipp Winter plays for Los Angeles, that team would win that series and face us in the quarter-finals. The series against Panthers would be also very tight but we would go through in six games because goalie Thor Odinson would stand on his head in the net despite the fact his TPE is under 1000. He would win that Pacific Division final series for us. In the conference finals we would play of course against Chicago. My old teammate Mat Smith would do his best in the net but still we would go to the finals in seven games by winning the last match 1-0 because Smith is clutch in the playoffs and never gives up more than two goals per game. Game-winning goal would be scored by mr. Darzins. In the finals we would play against powerhouse Hamilton and win them shockingly straight in four games with a goal difference 15-9. MVP of playoff run would be number one center mr. Sutherland.

Task 2:

The Winnipeg Aurora finished the season with just five wins and a goal differential of -259. You would think they would not make the playoffs, but due to the make-a-wish foundation who had a kid dream about seeing his Aurora take the stage, they were allowed to take the spot of the Chicago Syndicate, who were kind enough to cooperate.

In the first round the Aurora face the Edmonton Blizzard, when looking at the season series the teams faced eachother once and it did not look pretty.

Winnipeg - Edmonton 0 - 7

However, the power of the make-a-wish foundation is strong and the Winnipeg players gave it their all. They manage to win all the games by scoring an early goal (goals by veteran Mika Kandinsky, Teylora Petrov and ofcourse, the legend that is Zayne Rotzbua). After that, they were helping out Vincent Mietitore by all standing in front of the net together.

This miracle win put the Aurora in the second round. Where unfortunately the opponent knew which tactics they would face. By scoring first against this team, you will win and they took care of this quite rapidly. It still was a wonderfull way to end the season, winning almost more games in the playoffs then that they did in the regular season. And to top it off, one kid had his wish come true, what more can you hope for in a playoff like this?

Prompt 2

The weird thing about this Seattle team, is that they could go on a tear and run through almost anyone in the playoffs, if things drop the right way. They beat Texas and Hamilton across a pair of sims at one point in the season. The frustrating thing is that they are just as likely to be swept as they are to sweep!
Their first round opponents are the Calgary Dragons, divisional rivals. They lost the regular season series 4-3 to Calgary, after being 3-1 up. Calgary also finished ahead of them in the standings. They are, however, more than a match for the Dragons, on their day.
The winner of this tie will face the winner of the California derby between LA and SFP. Another intriguing intra-divisional matchup. You’d imagine LA will be too strong for the Pride, but stranger things have happened! Both of these teams won the season series v Seattle, 5-2 for LAP and 4-2 for SFP. Again though, both teams are definitely beatable for Seattle, they just need to put together a run of wind to succeed! From then on, it’s murkier waters, as they have struggled more against the bigger teams. A good run from Darzins and Sutherland may be something that brings them success, as they have been pivotal all season.

I put on my PJs, brush my teeth and go to bed. I fall asleep and start dreaming of the upcoming playoffs.

We start off against the Atlanta Phoenix or whatever and beat em ez pz. They didn't even play for .500 this season and failed to score more than they got scored on, after all. Duncan is of course on fire.

Once that's done, we move on to the Philadelphia Pots or whatever because in my dream they beat the ugly fish for some reason. Again, Duncan kills the interest of all of Philly's fans in hockey because he destroys this team so badly.

Then, we move on to Hamilton. We save the SHL by beating them. Finally, they won't be in the finals. The entire league rejoices. Something something Duncan something.

In the finals, we destroy the Chicago Mobsters or whatever. Duncan makes em regret the day they started playing hockey, nay, started skating, nay, were born.

Yes, Ethan Duncan is your playoff MVP. BAP are your Challenge Cup Champions. And you already knew this was a dream. If this isn't great storytelling, I don't know what is.

PROMPT 1 - Finally, the Final we have all be waiting for, but none expected: The Up and Comers vs the Grizzled Vets. No-one had bet on the Up and Comers getting this far, yet, here they are, in all their glory. The puck drops. And so do the Up and Comers. They try their patented fall down, act hurt, get indignant routine, but this time, the refs are not buying what the players are selling. Now we are down by 2. In the Second Intermission we discuss the power of friendship, that the inches we need are right there in front of us, that if we believe in ourselves we will win, that ASM might actually be The One, and that, maybe if we change into Mighty Ducks Jerseys, we will find the will and skill to win somehow. We come out of the tunnel in our Mighty Ducks Jerseys we somehow all had brought. And we are immediately sent back down the tunnel to change into our proper jerseys as that is ridiculous and you cant actually change jerseys in the middle of a game. Anyways, the Grizzled Vets beat the tar out of us in the third period, scored another three goals and beat us 5-0 for the championship. Maybe we will get them in the sequel...
