SHL GM SHL GM Quote:Written Task: You've opened a portal to an alternate universe! Your player from that universe steps through (they were also fucking around with dark magic). What are the differences between the real you and the not real you? One subtle difference? Many big differences? Do you convince them to join you in this universe and play hockey/take over the world? Or do you step into their universe to check it out? (150+ words) Stepping through the portal the first thing that I notice is everyone is sporting a killer mustache. Even Auston Matthews. Also the evil versions of us all have facial hair that would put civil war generals to shame. Now that I have laid out their evil and also hairy, clearly playing hockey is just not for them so what do we do? We take over the world. So the first thing we do is we build more portals because having just one makes it too easy to ruin the plan so we gotta make more and put them in different areas of the world. Because honestly, who is looking for a world ending portal at say Sesame Place or a Whole Foods in Illinois? No one thats who. We also take the cool evil weapons from there and bring them over here, maybe a mustache gun exists. Maybe you fire it and it gives the person a mustache, a pencil thin one like John Waters or a bushy one and fro like Bob Ross. Taking over the world in style is what were doing.

I think a big thing in my career that would have changed it is my draft position. Hamilton took me at 15 when I was projected to go in the middle of the second round based on my class TPE standing. Being drafted by Hamilton and getting called up a year early meant that I got to take advantage of the high TPE line mates for my first two seasons in the SHL. Without them carrying my slow ass all over the ice, I wouldn't have had anywhere near the rookie season I ended up having. This sophomore season was a good show of improvement too. I honestly felt like Winnipeg was going to take me with how scouting was going, but I am happy they didn't. Hamilton has been a great home for not only my p[layer but for myself as well, as they really are a good group of people. Heres to hoping for a cup this season! Let the devil magic commence.

Prompt 2:
I had a dream last night. A dream that could have been reality. It was back in the most recent expansion draft. I was out visiting family during the offseason. Any cell data out where they live is sparse, but I was able to find cell service, and was watching the expansion draft, and seeing who all was being picked by Regina and Great Falls, respectively, from the other J teams. Seeing as I was not contacted by any team, I did not expect my name to be called. And it wasn't. I breathed a huge sigh of relief knowing that I would be staying in Nevada. Although my stats were worse staying with the Battleborn than they are in the real world, I still had lots of fun. These guys weren't just my teammates, they were my friends, and since we were all mostly rookies from the season before, we were growing together too. We were supposed to be the team to be feared in a few years, and we were. Not only did we win our division in our final year in the J, but we were competing against Newfoundland the entire season. Melvin and I were the deadly cervidae duo on the right when we were on the ice, me as the counterattacking forward, him as the impenetrable defense. We ended up getting second behind the Berserkers, but not by much. We were bound to be on a collision course with them to the final. And a collide we did. We defeated our arch rivals Anaheim in a sweep in the first round. We lost one game to the Armada in the 2nd round, but otherwise we easily handled them. The cup was in our grasp, but we still had the other deadly team to battle with. It was a grueling 7 game series, with one or two even being won in overtime. But together, by the power of teamwork through all of us, we defeated them, and hoisted the cup. The afterparty was amazing. There was lots of celebrating and cheering and drinking. But of course it would all come to an end. At the end of the night, we ended up getting sad and reminiscing all the good times we had as teammates, as most of us were moving on our major teams. We would celebrate once together, and then leave together, but in all of our hearts, we were all Battleborn. That was when I woke up, smiling at the dream I had, and letting the memory of what could have been linger just a little longer than it should have.

Prompt Two:
If anything had gone differently I would have been born into a different universe in a galaxy far, far away. And I probably would have been born a rancor because rancors are fucking awesome. All snarly and ominous looking, but in reality they are just creatures of the force like me and you. Except with me, Im RANCOR! A hockey playing Rancor just because I have to make this somewhat related to SHL hahaha but seriously. When the Rancor appeared I was total woooo. Did not really see that coming but then I was like. Oh yeah They brought back the rancor. (said in Boromir's voice in LOTR... THEY HAVE A CAVE TROLL) And how. It was almost as awesome as the Luke Skywalker appearance in Mando but hahahaha "The Rancor's on the loose!" Just imagine living your miserable Mos Espa daily drudge life and then all of a sudden one day there's a fucking Rancor climbing your wall. hahahaha It was epic. omg imagine a rancor Jedi?

So surprisingly there were a lot of points in this player's career that could have went many different ways. Starting off, I have no idea how different the career trajectory would have went had I stepped down from NOLA Co-GM sooner and did not get drafted there. Because of the fallout between me and some of the users on the team I ended up leaving in free agency anyways but I always wonder who would have drafted me if I was open for anyone to take in that draft. It's also tough to look back on now seeing me with a 2k TPE player and I never got there on the last one so maybe some teams would have shied away because of that or because of past relationships. I do think Calgary would have been an option, reluctantly to me, because of my first player being there. I think things could have been vastly different for sure. I know I'm quite happy with my season in Toronto though and going to Atlanta as part of expansion before being hired in LA. Was some great experiences in some wonderful locker rooms. Props to both teams and their GMs. Thank you.

It was a dark and rainy night, Ergo Nomic was having a typically weekend. Playing around with their witchcraft. She decided to try a new potion. The book called this "Twisted Fates". The recipe came with a little warning. "May cause utter chaos in your life". Ergo was going through a bit of a depressive spell. Maybe some chaos would keep her preoccupied. She starts gathering the ingredients and mixing them together in a large cauldron. After a few minutes, Ergo mumbles a little spell. This huge purple portal popped up. She stared at it flabbergasted. Slowly, almost cautiously, a hand starting to come forth from the portal. Eventually, another human slid out. Ergo looked her up and down. She looked identical! Like a twin. She held up her hand and this mystery woman held hers up and they touched. And this is the story of how Ergo got her famous twin sister and the went on to win many golds in the Olympics.

Prompt 2
I still think fondly about my first player Evgueni Marmeladov, that would go on to break 1000 TPE and stop. Was an okay player for LA but never really accomplished much. I still think if I stayed active and kept at it, he would have been somewhere in the top. But life hit me and now I think. I could have had a descent run with Marmeladov, and then maybe recreated earlier and started a dynasty in another team. I think about that now, especially after all that has transpired in Calgary of late. While I was concerned about the team in the beginning, this has obviously doubled that notion for me. But now that there is a new transition of power, I want to see where the new Calgary team will be headed. If I had stayed with the old player and recreated earlier would I have avoided this mess or just been in another one earlier? Who knows what I missed and avoided.
