Afternoon games should immediately be branded as "family fun games", because I'll be honest, most parents might be reluctant to let their kids stay up well past 9 PM, even if it is to go catch a Seattle Argonauts game. These afternoon games are perfect for families! They can get home in time for dinner, and the kids don't have to worry about staying up late on a school night, assuming games are on Sundays.

Old people can also enjoy the games, since obviously they need their beauty sleep. Catch a nice game with their friends, reminisce about their younger days and watching the players of their era tear it up. Honestly, if marketing was smart, they would also add some seniors discount to entice the old people to come catch these specific games. It really isn't that hard, marketing department!

To be honest, I am surprised that there aren't more afternoon games. I'm certain that they would sell well.

What other changes do you make to the SHL in-arena experience to turn these afternoon games into THE place to be for old-timers? What does the intermission entertainment look like? What extra services, bonuses, or giveaways do you offer? Remember, you have to out-compete Bingo Nights and Wheel of Fortune. (150+ words)

Well first things first we've gotta turn the music WAY down.  Its too loud and when our hearing aids are up, that kindof racket can cause permanent damage.  All the music also has to change from all the loud rock and rap music to Big Band and pronto.  I'm talking Glen Miller, Johnny Mercer, Benny Goodman, and Fats Waller! The old timers would be up out of their seat the whole time!  During the intermissions, we'd have to change all of the different challenges they do down on the ice.  A crocheting contest would be one way we could get some grannies down there.  Maybe a puzzle competition too.  We'd have to be super careful though cause one slip could mean night night to grandpa.  For giveaways maybe we could give away some rare coins or stamps.  Also, I'm assuming that all these old dudes are probably the type to be like, "back in my day"... So why don't we go back to the old days? No helmets! No facemasks for goalies! No penalties! Just fights and broken teeth and maybe some hockey sprinkled in.

Player Prompt

So, this is actually a pretty major issue for Louise St. Martin, who is notorious for sleeping ultra late - hey, to look this good, you gotta get plenty of sleep, and I enjoy the nightlife. And let's just say she's...never really had a positive relationship with boomers in attendance - she loves playing in front of active, involved support, it's a big reason why she stayed in Geneva as long as she did. Why should I have to pass on a trip to the karaoke bar with friends and teammates just to appease a bunch of people whose idea of enjoying themselves at a game is sitting on their hands and clapping when they're told? I have to recalibrate my entire life for people that by and large won't be involved in willing us to wins in close games. I guess now I will have to nap after every game so I can still be singing Lorde's Green Light at 3am with my friends.

Creative Prompt:
I apologize in advance if this offends anyone. I would offer a throw back intermission entertainment such as old jazz music or classic songs that would get people doing the twist and shout. I would have to make some amendments to the area to allow for assistance chairs to help people get up and down the stairs without the risk of falling. It Would go as to far to add additional sales on the tickets for those that are over the age of 60, it would act as a senior discount. But in all seriousness I wouldn’t change much if anything at all. People that are 60 can still be great fans I would give some sort of incentives to bring more people into the games but its tough to see where and how they would actually help. Maybe add some throw backs to the concessions as well. Overall I think that noon games would end up hurting revenue more then helping it.

Prompt 1:

To appeal to the 60+ crowd, the Chicago Syndicate will be entering an unprecedented partnership with Paramount Pictures to have every aspect of the team be Godfather (1972) themed. From now on, each game will have two new in-house announcers, none other than Al Pacino and Robert De Niro calling the play on speakers turned up so loud that the audience won't even need their hearing aids. All of this, of course, is promotion for the upcoming Godfather part 4, a comedy-drama where we find out that Vito Corleone (played by Chris Pratt) really faked his own death and went to Chicago to run a new mob there, using his new name, Al Capone. Paramount was unaware when they made this partnership that the Chicago Syndicate would be moving their games to noon start times, offering free butterscotch candies, and having Bob Barker host episodes of the Price is Right on the ice during intermissions.

I'm using the Creative Prompt

First of all I think it is the perfect occasion to give a senior discount for older folks and give some package deals for retirement homes or hospitals so we sell a lot of tickets at the same time. It's also a known fact that old folks can sometimes get lonely when their spouse die, so instead of the kiss cam to make them feel even lonelier, we'd have a lonely hearts cam when single old folks would put up a descriptions, like a quick Tinder profile and he can be put in contact with people who are interested in them. It's also known that seniors love games and raffles, so obviously we'd have bingo games during half-times and they can win coupons by answering trivia questions. We'd also have a knitting corner in the arena where the seniors could go and knit when they're bored. We'd also change the seats so they're more like a rocking chair and i'm sure old people will appreciate that so they can be more comfortable and feel more at home.

Player Prompt:

Pablo Salvatici is going to have a hell of a time adjusting to the new start times after the SHL made the change from 7 pm to noon. Pablo regularly was only just rolling out of bed at 11 am with a hangover on most days and barely making it to practice on time. His pregame routine consisted of a power walk around the concourse and slamming a handful of Tylenol to try and quell his headache. Now he has to make a few adjustments, starting with catching an Uber to the rink at about 3 am and sleeping in his locker. He gave the coaching staff quite a scare the first morning but now everyone is seemingly used to the forward waking up 20 minutes before practice. The Tylenol is still slammed of course and the Uber Eats he ordered before practice is waiting for him afterwards. It's really quite incredible that he is managing to put up the point totals that he is while running this fucked up schedule but as long as the results come his pregame rituals don't change too much just end up shifted forward a few hours.

If the games really did move to a noon start time rather than the usual 7pm time, I really don't know how I would react. Personally, I'm not a morning person at all and I really don't think SD Core would be either. I think for the first few weeks of the change, old man SD Core might be late to a few games and practices because he's usually out later drinking. I have a feeling that his overall game performance would be way down as well due to massive hangovers. I think he'll get over the change in a few months, but being that early compared to the normal 7pm start time is really going to throw him a curveball. Personally I don't even think there should be a start time change anyway, screw them boomers, stay up if you want to watch some hockey. Zerkers deserve to be on primetime TV, not noon time boomer hour.

Creative Prompt

The first thing that the SHL would need to hook the older viewers is to change their advertising. No more ads based around alcohol, partying, and preparing for your future. Now the focuses need to be on things like medicare, retirement, and and the new world drugs you can track down! You have aches and pains? Try the new ache away, sponsored by the oldest ref in the league! Try some antiaging cream! Viagra! The works. You have a new demographic so you need to make sure you're showing off the products that would do them the most good. The next step would be extending half time. Hosting the game early just doesn't cut it. Everyone knows that after 60, you can't spend more than 30 minutes watching any media without needing a nap. So instead of a hype half time, just extend half time to an hour and play some calm music. help your audience rest before they finish the game! This will really bring in the old people. I'm sure there is much more to do, but these would be at the top of my list.

CREATIVE PROMPT

Written Task: What other changes do you make to the SHL in-arena experience to turn these afternoon games into THE place to be for old-timers? What does the intermission entertainment look like? What extra services, bonuses, or giveaways do you offer? Remember, you have to out-compete Bingo Nights and Wheel of Fortune. (150+ words)

First and foremost, we're gonna have a masseuse salon. Any kind of massage that you can think of, we got it. Hot stones? Those lil fish that eat your feet? We got everything (No happy endings though).
Second, which I think should've been the first one since I like this idea better, because I'm starving right now.. Is we start up a home made buffet. We'll be selling your favourite home foods, such as meatpies, mac and cheese, lasagne, meatballs and brown sauce, the absolute best potato mash just like grandma used to make, chicken and dumplings, Farcellets de col which is cabbage leaves that have been boiled and wrapped around some minced meat with rice in it(this is really good, try it), cowboy stew, biscuits and gravy, meatloaf, steamed veggies. ALL the good oldies that ALL the oldies will like!
Third we'd have bingo games during the intermissions.
Fourth would be karaoke during intermissions.
Fifth is we'll bust out the coolest Frank Sinatra esque.. Wait that's too old, okey, we'll bust out the rockiest of the rockers, Led Zeppelin? Is that old enough? Eh, I think so.

Creative Prompt:

The SHL moving games to 12pm is only the first step in their 30 step plan to appeal to the older generation.  What's next you may ask?  They can't let the cat out of the bag, but I know I am certainly looking forward to the team-themed-bingo 50/50 that will happen each period (maximum of 6 cards, please ladies).  Not just that, they also are putting on a very very special lottery for each game.  We all know as we get older our eye sight decreases, as well as our fine motor skills.  We will all probably have to wear glasses in the future because our hands will be too shaky to insert contact lenses.  So what is the SHL's solution to this?  Its genius.  Prescription strength magnifying glass panels for the boards instead of the usual glass.  This way, the old timers can enjoy the games like they did in their youth!  No glasses, and the game looks clear as day.  The best generation is back baby!

PLAYER PROMPT
Harry does what most pro hockey players do to prepare for a game. Get up early and start the day with some coffee. Breakfast varies, but it’s mostly on the healthier side. That part doesn’t have to change all that much, perhaps make sure to really get up early enough to be ready at noon. If it looks like it’s not working, just adjust the amount of coffee a little. However, since there are no games late at night the day before, this shouldn’t be a problem. Arrive at the arena about 2 hours before the game, skip all the other stuff that would be done between breakfast and this part and move it to the afternoon. That will work. At the arena there would be meetings (with coffee of course) and warm-ups and then you’re ready to go. While some members of the team would often meet for lunch on game days this part is simply shifted to dinner. Things change all the time, so why shouldn’t a pro athlete be able to adjust? It’s not like there haven’t been some random noon games before.
