S79 PT #3: The Man Behind The Mask Due: Sunday, November 3rd @ 11:59 PM PST

2.
Being a goalie in the big leagues is tough and they are definitely one of the most important skaters on the ice. We have to respect our goalies and protect them as well. The pre game ritual I have with our goalie usually gets him hyped as fuck. On our way to the arena we just blast the most obnoxious music you can listen to and just get amped for our upcoming game. When we hit the ice it’s a different feeling altogether but I usually keep our goalie happy and fierce. When he lets a goal in he knows it’s not the end of the world we keep it together. We try to limit the shots on goal in general and no one is ever allowed to touch him on the opposing team. If anyone shoots snow at our guy we will basically take them out. When the game is over we look out for each other making sure everyone makes it home safely

The synergy between me as a defenseman and my goaltender is so incredibly important. Before the game, I make sure to encourage our skaters to really challenge the night's netminder and not just shoot layups. This will ensure that the goalie is prepared for the opposing team's best of that night. During the game, I do my best to keep that synergy going. When the game is going well, I will check in with the goalie to see how they are making those incredible saves so they do not forget about how great they are playing. When it is a tough night, I try my best to calm the game down for them. That might mean that I take the puck behind our own net for several seconds just to slow it down. Or, I might make more of an effort to handle the puck in the offensive zone to give our goalie a bit of a breather before the next rush from the other team.

Andrade La Sombra being approached to help with a Halloween movie was already unbelievable to begin with. Still, he was adamant to help the team. With a passion for storytelling learned from his family and the way they told stories inside the wrestling ring, La Sombra envisioned a psychological horror film with his new teammates on Minnesota.

The storyline follows a group of hockey players who are stuck in a time loop on the way home from their game seven playoff loss that has left them emotionally drained. They are taken hostage in a nightmarish world where past errors materialize as ghostly apparitions that force them to confront phobias and regrets, all within the confines of the team bus. How the players played that night, and how it haunts them, could be the most scary part of it all!

Unfortunately, the pitch was rejected, and the PR team went a different route. La Sombra was inspired, though, and will perhaps look to become a screenwriter after his hockey career is over...

I don't know who put Ville Sato-Maki in charge of the horror movie for the team, but Sato-Maki decided to take the joke route as in we're making a "horror" movie. To be honest, Ville Sato-Maki can't even handle horror himself so this is the only way that this is going to work out. And so, we have Sato-Maki in his classic Moomin outfit in a story where he is haunting the hallways and locker room of the Vancouver Whalers. Team captain Hills is already telling the team about how Sato-Maki has been sleep walking or maybe sleep training throughout the day and has been acting rather suspicious. Through a series of Moomin jumpscares in the showers and in the washroom, the team hatches a plan to "expel" the spirit of Moomin that may be haunting Ville Sato-Maki. In an exorcist kind of way, Ville is put in center ice as the team pours a bucket of Gatorade (#sponsored) to eventually end the horror of Moomin... or maybe the joke horror.

Option 2: Before every game, Nor will go talk to his team starting goaltender to ask him if there is anything he can do during the lineup to help them prepare for the game. Most of the time, Nor will start the warm-up by shooting pucks at his goalie blocker and glove to get his hands moving. Then his goalie will get into a butterfly position and Nor will shoot at both his pads to get the goalie legs moving. This is usually all the help they need during the warmup. In a game where his goalie is not facing a lot of shots, Nor will try to get check on them if the faceoff is on their size of the ice and give him some words of encouragement. Other than that, Nor leaves his goalie alone, because he knows goalies are usually highly focused on the game and they want to be left alone to stay in their own mental zone that helps them perform.

Option 2:

Inge is close with pretty much everyone on and around the team in Baltimore, he’s laid back, an easy guy to get on with. Both of Baltimore’s goaltenders, Beau Kavanagh and Hank Stopper, are very competitive but get on well with the young Norwegian. He has a pre-game ritual with both of them where they tap sticks then helmets. Helps fire them both up for the game. As a more defensively-minded forward, Inge is always looking at how he can stop pucks being flung at his own goalies, as well as flinging pucks of his own at the opposing one, so he makes plays that some of the more offensively minded guys might not, in the way he will block shots or drive players into the corners behind the Baltimore net, just to cut down on the goaltenders workload, so that is always appreciated. Inge is not much of a fighter, but he will happily take a roughing penalty to stand up for his goaltender, as he has multiple times over the past season and a bit in Baltimore!

The name of the movie will just be The Buffalo Stampede, and what would be more scary then to include conversations filled with emoji's. Rumor has it emoji filled conversations are scarying people away from Buffalo, saying they no longer want to remain in the city. Everywhere in the cities stampedes of people talking in emoji's are going on, and they multiply each day. How would you react when someone would only start to communicate with you by just emoji's, wouldn't you be freaked out? As people are trying to flee Buffalo from the stampede of emoji talking people they are stopped by the players of the Buffalo Stampede hockey team, ofcourse all dressed in Luffy hats. Armed with their hockey sticks they try to take back their city and slash all the emoji talking people back into oblivion, making Buffalo once again a safe place to have normal conversations again. If you think this is a crazy script, be aware, as it could happen to your town as well.

Option 1:

The movie begins with a camera shot on the ice. A team is playing and you realize that the movie is now in a first-person point of view. The point of view represents your own as you are skating down the ice. You look at the clock, 45 seconds left - next to that, the score - 4-3 you're down by one. It's the championship game. People are cheering. You come back to focus and see your team recycling for the last big push. You start skating into the offensive zone after the puck carrier and set up on the half wall. 20 seconds left. The puck gets passed your way but instead of catching the pass, you whiff and look down to see that you have no skill in your hands anymore. The puck slides by as the opponent hits you down to the ice. You look on as they take the puck and put it in your empty net. You failed and have no recourse. You are shunned and forgotten as a hockey loser. The end.

Option 1:

The first idea for a horror movie that popped into Hip Hurts’ head, was the terrifying story of his play on the ice this year. Despite the fact that Hurts is supposed to be a leader and one of the best defenseman on the team, his play has truly been a nightmare. The monster is this movie would just be his stat line. However he quickly realized this would make for a pretty boring movie. So instead, he pivoted to directing a low budget horror movie, about a visiting team bus that breaks down while traveling through the remote Nevada desert on route to play the Battleborn. As the bus is stalled waiting for AAA, the team is terrorized by a possessed goat who hunts them down one at a time Jeepers Creepers 2 style. The team will use their pet goat Grond to play the goat, he’s very trainable. This will instantly make him the scariest goat in Hollywood, since I think his only competition is the goat from The Witch, which was an overrated snoozer.

Option 2:

Paul Bondage could not imagine the strength, physically and mentally, that it takes to be a top tier, elite goaltender. While at practice, he has seen what they do. The monotony of it all, the focus they have to put in at every second of a game, not allowing themselves to drop out of that focus for even a second lest you find your team down a goal. With that being sad, Paul Bondage has an incredible amount of respect for his and all goalies of the league. He knows better than to get into deep conversation with them when it is game time. He will not even say words to him during most games. At most, he will give a small stick tap to the pads after a good save, his goalies have learned that that is his way of showing his respect for them. He will not even look at them during intermission, most of the times them off in their own world of focus and replenishment.

Picture this. It is a moonlit night, the moon peeks through the clouds and lights up the Edmonton landscape below. Legends say there is a monster that roams these forests at night, none have survived to tell the tale in person, only missing persons never to be found and curdling screams at night. They say the monster walks on all fours and resembles half man, half bear, half pig, though only its silhouette has ever been seen. The creature only appears on the nights of full moons, and would you look at that, that's tonight. There is a rustling in the bushes, you freeze and watch in horror. A GIANT creature jumps out and is staring right at you, the legends were true. Your eyes are unsure of what it is seeing, standing before you is what seems to be a werewolf, but with a shining shimmering bald head. The monster is also completely naked, not like in books and movies where they usually at least wear pants or have non-descriptive smooth parts below. The dangling behemoth approaches you, the last thing you see is the blinding moonlight reflecting off its magnificent bald head (the one on his head). They call him the "barewolf"

The horror movie that I'd help create would be a hack and slash horror flick, directly ripping off the Jason movies by using the hockey mask. Or maybe Jason directly ripped off hockey and I'm just taking it back. The movie would take place on the ice with the villain mysteriously doing serious harm to players on the opposing team. The refs can't figure out who's inflicting so much pain that's leaving players crumpled on the ice or hobbling back to the bench. All of the hits look clean but they are coming out mangled, bloody, and bruised. Fans and coaches figure that the corners of the rink are haunted due to the unspeakable things that happen there when the players are tied up, poking away at the puck. Others feel like the rink has a curse put on it by a witch. But deep down, everyone knows its just the Philadelphia Forge wreaking havoc on the rest of the league in the way it always does.

Written Option 2:

Goalie IS the most important position. Starting goalie specifically, because they're the only thing keeping some guy off the street from polluting our net. As a defenceman, I pride myself in my ability to make my goalie's life easier, and helping them out on the mental side of things isn't just for sports therapists anymore. The method to handle each goalie differs depending on the goalie you're interacting with. I'm not equipped to deal with every single goalie, however, so I do the same stuff every time. I leave them be if a goal was on them during the moment. If I'm at fault, I'll hit them with a "my bad" and not dwell on it. For the most part, intermission and post game is when I have to handle them, and for the most part it is just by listening. I'll initiate it by mentioning something about a goal against by taking some blame. This will usually get them talking and complaining about something, usually their own mistake or inability to see the puck due to bodies in front or a deflection. Letting them vent and being able to say "it's all good, don't sweat it" just to let them get out their feelings and then let them know I don't care about the goal against. Listening is free and if you aren't good at it, you can just drown them out.
