Of course each season's first opening night is very special to the team, and Will Tomlander knows that too. He tries his very hardest on the ice to get his team the win in order to make it special for the fans who show up for the home opener. He appreciates all the fans who show up and cheer the team on especially since the team has not been very good in recent seasons due to the rebuild that was taking place. It means a lot to him and he wants to make sure that the efforts of these fans are acknowledged and returned by the team. Playing in front of a home crowd that is supportive makes the game feel so much better, especially when you can deliver a win for the fans. That is one of the parts of playing hockey that he is so appreciative for, and one of the best feelings ever.

Jett Labyrinth’s last home opener as a Newfoundland Berserker was pretty emotional for him. Before the game, Jett tried to treat it like any other game, doing his normal routine and regular superstitious habits. During the pre-game ceremonies, however, when his name was called out he realized that this would be the last year he’d spend in St. John’s, and looking around at all the fans cheering him on almost brought a tear to his eye. He knew he had to lock in for the game as it was against one of their big rivals, the Quebec City Citadelles, the defending champs, and a possible future playoff match-up. Perhaps a bit shaken up from the ceremonies, and trying to be as intense and aggressive as possible, Jett took three minor penalties for 6 penalty minutes total. Despite taking these penalties, Newfoundland won 4-1 and he got an assist. After the game he signed autographs and took pictures with every fan he could as he knew how special they have all made his time here feel like.

I think I would be the perfect candidate for this type of game show. I am familiar with all sports as I watched them due to my father (Puddles O'Duck) being the mascot. So i know the rules of all the sports, but I also know the intricacies after watching so much. My father also had a HOF hockey career and is on his way to a very productive football career, so I know athleticism is in my blood. I'd honestly favor myself to win this whole thing unless I was going up against my father. I think I can play multiple sports, but I know my dad can. Obviously I would be good at hockey, but I would also be sneaky good at basketball due to my 6'-9" frame. Not many other non-basketball players are that height, so they would struggle with basketball. Volleyball would also be another good sport. Soccer and baseball would probably be the hardest, but I'm sure I could manage. I think I'd win it all!

I mean if were being honest here every single player on the home team gives 120% whether its opening night or game 33 somewhere in Edmonton. That's just the nature of the league to be honest. As far as Buffalo goes, every game is a big show and a place to be to see an amazing attraction. Every player from the rookies to the award winning vets always try to stick around to sign autographs because outside of fan fests this is the closest you're going to get to getting almost everything you want signed signed. I don't think its great or smart to do any big celebrations taking the ice because as we've seen in pro football one false move or one leap and land wrong means you're screwed for the season and possibly your career. Each player takes the ice when their name and number is called and hopefully they do it in a safe manner.

So it is time for another season and Rebecca Montagne is ready to win again for all the fans in Buffalo, she is giving it her all every game and even though regression is starting to get the best of her, she is a fierce competitor and not willing to give up easily. So she is out there on the ice trying to shut down every puck that comes her way. After the game, she wants to make sure all fans are heard, so if the schedule allows her, she will be out there for the fans as long as allowed, till the lights go out in the venue. If the fans want to have an autograph, or a selfie together or just have a quick chat, she is always open for it. As in the end, the fans are the ones enabling is to do the thing we love the most, and that is to go out there and get paid for playing a game.

For the Quebec City Home opener Shiny Rainbow did something special this season for the pregame show. Before the team took the ice, Shiny Rainbow went out alone and started to skate in circles around the rink, getting faster and faster until she was skating so fast a literal Rainbow appeared on the ice. Then the rest of the team was announced one by one and could skate out into an awesome rainbow lightshow and greet the fans. First were the two recent acqusitions from Vancouver, who are Shinys new Line mates, so could already get a glimpse of who they have to keep up with on the ice. And in the End the award winners with the trophys shown on the jumbothrone. Obviously the lasz two were playoff MVP Kaptina and Captain Roccamontepiano. For this big finale Shiny Rainbow released her ice rainbow and a huge light explosion filled the arena with rainbow colors. After the game, Shiny and the two new players stayed longer to sign special rainbow playercards for the fans.

Opening night is something truely special in my eyes. Training camp has concluded and the exhibition games have been played and now the real deal is starting and all teams start that battle to secure a spot in the oh so important play offs to have a shot at winning that precious cup. I can imagine that it's also pretty special for the fans as they have been waiting a couple of months for competitive games to be played by their favorite team. Some teams might not have played in the previous season play offs so they had to wait a little bit longer. On the day of the home opener I try to make extra time to interact with the fans and sign extra autographs. Show my appreciation that they are turning out to watch us play and pay for it on top of that. They make our game possible and it is good to give something in return.

When he got the phone call, M’Baku Olubori laughed. Of course he’d compete! The man who grew up a serious boxer and American football player in Nigeria, while also playing basketball and soccer with his friends? Obviously he’s down to clown on this show. Under one condition: they HAVE to cast the other members of the Abuja 4. The producers are a little weirded out at first, but once they look into the bona fides of the other three: the ZCHL and G League’s Prentice Parsons II, Momo Adamu of the SSL’s Tokyo, and Chinyelu Sani of the long-forgotten WSBL, there are no questions. Baku breezes to the finals (have you seen this guy?) The only sport he has some trouble with is baseball, as he’d never developed the hand eye coordination. Still, his natural skills and experience as a professional athlete let him go far in the competition. He fell just short of the big crown, but earned many more adoring fans based on his skill and natural charm. And that, my friends, is why Baku came into preseason camp out of shape. Hard to find a lot of time for training between IIHF, being trapped in the woods, and then immediately going on a game show.

As a player, making opening night special for the fans starts with bringing an unmatched level of intensity and energy to the ice. From the moment we step out for warmups, we need to show the fans we're ready to compete. That means crisp passes, hard shots, and a visible display of focus and determination. During the game, every shift should be played with maximum effort. We need to generate scoring chances, deliver big hits (within the rules, of course), and backcheck relentlessly. After the game, win or lose, taking a few moments to acknowledge the fans, whether with a wave, a stick tap on the ice, or even a quick autograph, goes a long way. It's about showing appreciation for their support and letting them know we're in this together for the long haul of the season. You have to always put on a show for the fans as they are the reason we play and why we salaries in the first place

The QCC has a great fanbase and everyone loves to see their turnout. Lewis Holl was feeling electric coming off a season victory in the SMJHL and getting drafted in the second round. But he wanted to give some of that back to the fans who helped him get there. So the season opener he volunteered to stay after the game and have a booth setup for a meet and great. Some fans passed up though, simply wanting to beat the traffic, or not being too interested in a second round draft pick, but those that stayed were treated. Holl signed pucks, jerseys, and just about anything people gave him (yes including the elusive zyn can). Some people wanted pictures and he happily obliged them. The event was only supposed to last one hour after the game but Holl stayed much longer then that. He stayed a few extra hours just to make sure that everyone who wanted to see him got the chance to!

There's always a little extra spring in your step when you walk into the arena for the first home game of the season. Tonight, you know the arena is going to be full. Tonight, your family and friends will all be there. Tonight is your only chance to make a good first impression for the season. Barcus tries to tell himself that this game isn't any different than the 65 or so other games he'll play this season. But deep down inside he knows that this game is special. Despite being only 19 years old, he's now a J veteran, and he will be asked to lead, not just contribute. There's even a slim chance that this will be his final SMJHL opening night. So when he steps on that ice, Barcus takes an extra moment to soak it all in. When announced in the pre-game ceremony, he makes firm eye contact with as many of his friends, family, and other fans that he possibly can, and tries somehow to send waves of gratitude back to the stands. Written Option 2: Being new to Quebec, Dominic was really just hoping the fans would accept him into the fanbase along with his teammate Levon Dojkic. So for his first couple games as he got adjusted to the new life in Quebec he hung out with the fans, signed autographs and gave away stuff to them. So far Dominic has been on a tear with 14 points so it seems like he's doing alright so far in Quebec. At the beginning of every game he always signed hats and sticks after coming out of the tunnel to gain respect with the fans. The first game is always so important to make a good impression. The stadium is full, your friends and buddies are watching, and Dominic just went out and did his best. He really loves playing in Quebec and hopefully he can keep up these stats with help from the fans and most importantly his teammates. The Citadelles were very cool when he joined as part of a trade and immediately welcomed him into the culture and helped him get adjusted before each game.

I prepare for the opening home game like any other game. In every match, you have to give maximum performance in order to have a chance to lead the team to victory. It doesn't matter if it's the first home game or the tenth. You have to try your best in every match. Of course, I will try to pay attention to the fans, as long as it does not interfere with my preparation for the match. I have to admit we have great fans in the Yukon and if they have a request I'm happy to oblige. But most of all I have to pick up the win. This is what not only they, but also my team ask of me the most. And considering that I always try to do my best before each match, I will certainly not behave differently before this match than in other matches. And besides, I always celebrate after a winning match.

With the show the Greatest show on earth reaching out to Cale to join the latest season he would relish in the idea of being able to put his athletic past to the test and compete against other players such as Purdy Mediocre from the ISFL and even members from the PBE such as steven slothsburg, and SSL. Putting them all in the gameshow it could possibly finally settle the debate as to which athletes from each league are the best! I know there has been a long time debate on this but this show will finally bring it all to the public to show off their skills! As far as how everyone would do it would be a mixed bag as almost all the athletes on the show all have a history of playing all the other sports and not being a single sport athlete it would really be a toss up as to who was the best at each! Being a pro hockey player though would be a massive advantage over others in all ice sports though as it’s a very unique set of skills for this reason Cale would likely be one of the top! WC:199

Early on in Prince Marius' career, the idea of standing around signing autographs was torturous. he was a hockey player, not a celebrity. It isn't in the job description of a hockey player to have social skills and be somebody's hero. The pressure to excel on the ice is heavy enough, but to couple that with the responsibility to be anything more than just an athlete and someone's role model is mountainous. However, the experience of meeting with people, visiting hospitals, working with the marginalized in the community and seeing that no matter the economic status or race or gender, hockey was unifying and meant more to people than Marius initially thought. His dad Viktor was always the man of the people, for Prince to not live up to the ideals initially was difficult, but he began seeing the merit and value in signing autographs. Now, you will find Prince outside of the stadium after the game signing autographs and meeting with fans for a few minutes. He always gives back to the people and gives the 120% that the job requires from him rather than just being a hockey player, he can be a hero. Even though e didn't ask for it, its what the people need. |
