S80 PT #4: Last Action Hero Due: Sunday, January 12th @ 11:59 PM PST

So despite being hired as a consultant, this movie featured very little hockey. But that's not to say it wasn't representative of the league. They realized they didn't have the budget to do a lot of the action so a lot of the hockey is actual CGI. It ended up being more of a backstage drama. The first act focuses on the controversy surrounding international recruiting. This involved forging birth certificates to give players residence of certain nations. It then followed the backlash and fallout from such decisions. The second act focuses on damage control. Every time a complaint is voiced whether internally or externally, the league has a damage control specialist who comes in to mitigate or outright dismiss the problem. They will even flat out deny there are problems at all. The second act is where a lot of the audience might get confused about what they are actually watching. The final act of the film takes place in the distant future. The surviving members of head office are in a cemetery surrounded by tombstones of all the former players. One member says to another while vaping, "Our work is done. I think we ran off all the bad people. Let's play." There are only two teams left. Worley makes a cameo as one of the groundskeepers.

The Warner Bro. came to me and ask me to have me in a Hockey - Call of Duty Spin off and Crossover. So I said yes and I can bring in my thoughts about the Hockey Part. We started to look at the specific players we need as comparison for the roles. Sniper will be a Sniper for sure but Defender are like Medis. It was fun to look at real SHL players in those CoD Roles. After this Roles we changed the topic to the maps. We talked about the stadium with ice. Also the Lockerroom is in the book and we also thought about the rooms behind the stadium. The last part was the all around of the stadium. The last topic were the names for the guns and which type they should be in comparison to the hockey equipment. I would like to bring in my thoughts once again for the Movie-Business if I can help.

In one of the final games of the season, Billy Herrington etched his name into SHL history with a performance that defied belief and turned a routine game into an unforgettable spectacle. The Atlanta Inferno were tied 3-3 against their rivals, the Manhattan Rage, in a game with playoff implications. Late in the third period, Billy found himself at the center of a jaw-dropping sequence that blended skill, instinct, and just a pinch of luck. It started with Manhattan pressing hard in Atlanta's zone. Billy backchecked fiercely, stripping the puck from one of the Rage’s top scorers and launching a counterattack. The puck ricocheted off a defender's skate, and before anyone could process it, Billy had controlled the bounce, pulled off a flawless lacrosse-style goal, and tucked it past the bewildered Manhattan goalie. The crowd erupted, but Billy wasn’t done yet. With mere seconds left and Manhattan pulling their goalie for an extra attacker, a chaotic scramble in the Inferno's zone ensued. Billy intercepted a pass, and without hesitation, flung the puck across the ice. Time seemed to freeze as it sailed perfectly into the empty net—a winger scoring a goalie goal to clinch the game. Afterward, Billy was all smiles, laughing about how wild the sequence was. “I don’t think I’ll ever do that again,” he joked. The fact that it came against a heated rival made it even sweeter. The highlight would play on loop for years, cementing Billy’s reputation as a player who thrived in the most unpredictable moments.

There is a universe where the Seattle Argonauts are still having AT-AT Wøllker and Simo Jääskeläinen in the crease with goaltenders Henri Losanov and Bishop Van Apeldoorn. They are one good performance away to be the first quadruple to win the Mike Honcho Trophy that usually goes to the tandem that allows the less goals. They are facing the San Francisco Pride and a 1-0 win would get the job done. The boys are fired up and after 2 periods the score is still 0-0. It's not easy to generate offense with only 2 skaters out there while having 4 Argos in net at all time. The Pride are getting frustrated and Seattle gets the lead on a double powerplay. They are a few minutes away from achieving the dream. Oh no what is Kal Åkar Kekkonen doing? Cherry-picking at the blueline all game long he decides the moment is too important and start playing defense. Scores 2 own goals and the Pride wins 2-1.

In the final game of the season against Manhattan, Westley was an absolute All-Star. Not only did he assist on three of the four goals that Toronto scored in a third period rally that saw them go from losing three to two to winning six to three. He also had a much more powerful impact that the scorekeepers wrongfully kept off the stat sheet. In the waning minutes of the game, Westley was stuck in his own zone helping to fend off a six on five courtesy of Manhattan pulling their goalie to get an extra man on the ice. That MAMMOTH OF A MAN, or really woman, was @kahri 's player, Betzee Nickelback, the best forward on her team. Betzee was doing everything in her power to take the win away from Westley and Toronto, leading to Westley blocking 6 of her shots. After the sixth blocked shot Westley was finally able to find a way to clear the puck. He saw Alexi Piastri streaking down the ice. He then sends the puck flying directly to the blade of Piastri's stick who drops the puck off into Manhattan's empty net. EnRAGEd by her costly turnover Betzee immediately charges her ex-Kraken teammate Westley and they both drop the gloves, just like they did at many of their practices as young SMJHL players. This time was different though, the practice skirmishes were generally practically playfights to get the rest of the team fired up during seasonal slumps, this time Betzee and Westley had true anger at their situations, Westley was frustrated due to his team needing THIS GAME to barely squeak themselves into the playoffs, and Betzee was frustrated at just how often she had been absolutely thwarted by Westley this game. Now while I would like to say that Westley easily won this fight, he had just taken six full power shots to the shins and torso and alas Betzee won the fight, but not the game.

Quote:Written Option 1: A movie studio decides to make a hockey movie but they are more focused on making money so people in charge of the movie and actors starring in it know nothing about hockey. It just so happens that your player is offered a role as hockey advisor for minimal compensation but they get to make a cameo at some point during the movie. What is the movie like, what kind of tone are they going for? How would your player like working there and how much would they get fixated on to things exactly right? And of course most importantly what kind of cameo does your player have in the movie?

The movie is called Ice Jam. The tone of the movie is an action-packed sports movie with some cartoon elements, where a group of aliens come to Earth and sap the hockey playing ability of several players in the SHL. They do this in order to make a team that can beat the Earth’s strongest, thus winning the right to enslave us.

My player, Jae-ik Barron, would love working on the movie even with only a cameo. He would make sure that people were holding their sticks the right way, that the animators were avoiding the pitfalls of hockey that the Simpsons episode ‘Lisa on Ice’ fell into, with pucks shot at the wrong net and sticks that looked low poly. He would have a cameo as the agent of the star that is taking part of the movie as the ringer the cartoons need to help them win the game. Since Jae-ik only has a cameo, the main star in the movie would have to be someone that retired recently but was a clear and obvious hall-of-famer. Maybe Dick Clapper.

Jae-ik’s character would get fixated on fixing a divot in a golf course that leads to the cartoon world. He would make a surprise appearance on the ice in the final game and get crushed by one of the gigantic alien hockey players, thus deciding to stick to the bench for the rest of the game. Earth eventually wins, and Dick Clapper is proclaimed a hero.

Written Option 2: One highlight that won't be forgotten and be remembered for ages would be the michigan goal done by Harry. Despite being a defender, he came from the bench with a 1-on-1 with the goaltender, fooling him by skating beyond the goal, but making him unaware of the goal he was going to slot into the upper right corner of the goal.

When scored, the whole stadium erupted in disbelief, and him as well. He had to do a double take by looking back at the goal and just gaffawed at it.

Another memorable highlight will be his fight win. Despite going against a 6"7 enforcer who is 200lbs, Harry who is 6"2 and is a bit heavier at 215lbs, won, even if it seemed one-sided towards the enforcer. This win showed many teams that he was not meant to be messed with, leading to less confrontations towards him.

Dunkler didn’t manage to pull off anything exciting stats sheet wise in the last few games of S80. However he did get lucky! Maybe unlucky, since it isn’t really going to be a stat highlight. Dunkler finished in the top 10 of plus minus, but just for defensemen. At first I was super proud of this stat! That goes to show Dunkler’s play is pushing possession for the Barracuda, and even if he isn’t the one putting the puck in the net or even assisting on the goal, the team is benefitting from strong play. But Im not positive that is the case. See my main theorey was that Dunkler was getting very little of his success on the power play. But then I remembered that power play goals don’t award a plus in the plus minus stat anyway. So everyone on else in the top 10 for plus minus is doing exactly the same thing Dunkler is doing.

So the end of year highlight is just Dunkler being on ice for many goals, but not quite involved that much. Lots of skating into another player’s celly.

As a consultant on this movie production, Rence Sykut would shun all realism because for the most part because that does not make an exciting movie. Instead of that, he would push the cinematography to take on more of a style of the Mighty Ducks franchise where the actual gameplay footage is comically not true to actual hockey plays or even basic physics. Think of the flying V, or lassoing opposition players during the course of the game, or two players switching goalie and player gear during the course of a one minute timeout. Of course, this is not a fully realistic representation of an actual hockey game, but man it is fun and that is what will drive ticket sales. Pretty much any sports movie that really tries to make the gameplay realistic makes it boring to watch. Hockey heads will complain that it misrepresents the game, but you cannot tell me the Mighty Ducks franchise did not introduce an entire generation to the game despite its ridiculousness.

Written option 1:
Jauhnne would go with the tried and true underdog story. You know the one, the really cheesy one where the ragtag team manages to go the distance and win whatever tournament that is super important to them despite the odds. It is a simple premise, and as a bonus Jauhnne can use the fact that the actors know nothing about hockey as part of the narrative. Jauhnne would have to accept that the hockey being played in the movie would not be completely accurate, after all the actors have a very short amount of time to learn anything, so he would focus on making it look as authentic as he can with what limited time he has. It is not like most people are going to notice, let alone care that much, right? As for his cameo, Jauhnne would appear as the coach of the opposing team in the final match.
