I think that there should be more trades for sure ! Maybe we need to have fewer teams in the playoffs so that the teams that are in are really pushing and have more chances at the cup

My answer to this question is generally no, for 2 reasons.
1) Chemistry in lines is such a weirdly important factor in FHM that shifting out players this late can be a gamble that most highly competitive teams aren't interested in taking but mid-tier teams may be incentived toward with expectations for a season or two down the line.
2) The business aspect of the NHL, with its sales pressure and overhead costs, does not apply to the SHL. Generally, if you're trading an active player here, it's a friend. GMs in the past who used to play a numbers game found themselves less successful than those who built community with their teams and had fun with it.

It’s a tough balance to strike for sure. I was traded in SMJHL, and while initially wasn’t super thrilled to hear I was on the block, it ended up being a really fun experience. Maybe we can find a way to incentivize players to WANT to be traded despite their LR relationship, especially if it would make sense from a RP perspective. For example an aging player on expiring contract to a contender, or a positional need swap (would have to do away with buying position changes probably)

its a tough subject, i think it is fine as is but i also think it would be beneficial to have more movement at the trade deadline for entertainment factor. in what i would do to encourage more movement, honestly i dont know what can be done

i think the SHL trade deadline is fine as is! a ton of player movement always makes things confusing for people who may not keep up with the league as much as everyone else and its always nice to stick around LRs with people you already know!

I like the idea of more movement but we also can't make it seem too forced or else parity or the experience in the league will be negatively affected. We need to strike a balance between those 2 sides.

My opinion of the trade market is that teams give up too much for one asset and aren't left with much else to pursue more, or cap space (for better or for worse) restricts those teams from spending draft capital to get better talent.

I think a way the trading and trade deadline could improve is if the player(s) getting traded had a bit more of a say in the final arrangement, or at least if they want to be traded. More forced movement could annoy people who maybe didn't want to be traded.

I think the SHL has done a great job with the amount of trades that happen, and compared to the NHL, I prefer the more relaxed deadline.

I think it would be tough for the SHL to reach the same level of trades as the NHL, but maybe there should be a budget bonus for teams or a signing bonus for players when a trade occurs. Something to incentivize a minimum of 1 or 2 trades per season.

I'm not really sure what's currently in place that would be hindering trades from happening. But it does make me curious if maybe the league could offer like an incentive for teams to make moves at the deadline by offering to like, take on some salary of players moved within the last week of TDL?

Honestly, I have very limited knowledge of how TDL works and such over here. I haven't heard anyone complaining of lack of player movement, so that would lead me think that things are fine as they are. Don't fix what ain't broke typa thing.

Our seasons in the SHL are much, much shorter than the NHL's and we have multiple games on one real life day. In comparison almost nothing really happens in the SHL, at least not enough to require much movement. For me things are fine as they are.

I think the difference between the NHL trade deadline and the SHL trade deadline is that in the SHL we know each other a little bit more personally whereas in the NHL the management can be more cutthroat in terms of trading players they like. It burns a bridge but that player's career is usually on the tailend whereas in the SHL the player recreates and now there's mixed feelings in the water. Not much you can do about that though which is why the SHL trade deadline will stay where it is.

I don't think you could do anything to encourage more player movement during seasons without drastically changing people's attitudes towards changing teams. You would need players more focused on their players and asking out of a "bad" team to go to a contender, but that kind of attitude is generally frowned upon and could lead down a slippery slope of people acting entitled, so I don't think there's any nice way of doing it
