I think things are fine it's a simulation league what really draws people in is the community rather than the sim itself. More trades puts the community based appeal at risk

they need to put in a rule saying that @Renomitsu cannot get traded at the trade deadline, since it would be unfair. luckily i'm the GM of Violet Stoica's team and it's up to me, so the non-trading of Violet Stoica is in good hands!

I'd like to see more trades happening in general, but I know people are much more rooted into their teams compared to real life players so it can be kind of not worth the emotional pain for everyone involved. More rentals would be cool, but generally the way things are now are completely fine. I just like the "drama" of trades for the sake of trades.

I feel as though a lot of the trading occurs during the draft instead of during the season. Which gives really short notice for players with NMC and NTCs to consent to being traded. I’d like to see more in-season trades, but I’m not sure how to accomplish that per se.

I like seeing more trades , but i also think not everyone wants to be traded, making it harder to accomplish here than in real life. Here teams are usually playing the longer planning game then in real life. So no idea how to make more trades happen really, as mostly people want to stick with their team or friends.

I do not think much can be done because ultimately most users are in it for the community aspect and staying within one team/community is the best way to build relationships with other users.

I think unfortunately, it's a product of people valuing loyalty. Folks join these leagues and become attached to their teams and locker rooms and don't want to leave them without their team getting proper compensation, so I think we are a bit stuck with how it is.

I think if teams and GMs had more tools at their disposal to fully understand the style of game their team plays, we would see more effort made at the Trade Deadline to make targeted trades for players who will help make the team better.

The biggest issue I think trade deadline and free agency in general is the complete loss of all chemistry in the engine. Like I get that you wouldn't have chemistry with new teammates, but the effect of chemistry alone has such a sway on player performance that it's usually not worth bringing in new players especially late in a season. The quality of their play will likely be much lower than expected and not going to make a bug enough difference that the move will really push the needle for a team.

Thank you @Ragnar  for the Sig!

I think allowing for some salary retention during the season a player is traded would encourage some shopping at the deadline. Good teams can supplement their title push by getting talented players at a salary cap discount while others can aid in a rebuild by sacrificing some cap that season for draft picks or young players. There may have to be a limit to prevent superteams (like only a certain amount of payroll can be covered by other teams through retention), but it's an idea worth experimenting with.

Player movement is a tough thing in a league like this where most people are on teams with friends or they've already chosen the place they want to be. It seems like GMs get the team they want in the off-season and then the regular season is just used to strategize and tune the lineup. Maybe GMs believe changes mid-season aren't a good thing in FHM? I'm not sure, but I've always seen in-season movement as barely existing.

Tbh trades don't really matter when everyone has the same fucking build. Why would you trade the same guy for the same guy. Does nothing to improve your team. Any trade in the shl is basically a lateral move.

I think things are fine as they are. Teams have to make moves that make sense long term and for a chance to win in FHM there are other factors as well. It is very hard for a competing team to make a change unless someone is going IA and that doesn't happen all that often.

some high fibre sigs are Powered by AllBran,

With expansion around the corner, I think it's the perfect time to make a few other changes. I say we tweak the cap situation a bit. Maybe as simple as lowering the cap a bit. I think we could further limit salary retention, maybe the number of retained contracts you can take on, maybe the length of retention, or both. We could also remove or further limit hometown discounts. With rosters likely to be shaken up in expansion, this feels like a great time for it.

I truly believe that there is currently some sort of incentive worked into the backrooms of the league that has teams making more trades then before around the deadline. For many, many years it was a quiet event up until just the last handful of years.
