Official Rap/R&B discussion thread

I am very happy to see that everybody here has taken a positive view on this song's message. I understand not liking him in general, I personally like three songs and one is for personal reasons instead. The message in this song and in "Otherside" are incredible and the reason I enjoy those songs from him.

Thank you everybody for giving me your thoughts, it gives me a positive outlook on my speech and definitely on this board as you are all incredible people.

An old man's dream ended. A young man's vision of the future opened wide. Young men have visions, old men have dreams. But the place for old men to dream is beside the fire.

I think Mackelmore touches on something that is taboo in the genre of Hip Hop. The lyrics are good and he somewhat brings to light the issue. Good song, good lyrics, but I think the real star and the person that really drives this song is Mary Lambert who is the only homosexual person on the track.

I also have an issue with people who use ***** and that's gay all the time and then say they can't stand homophobia, when they are being homophobic themselves.

lol why don't you just use my name if you're gonna take a shot at me?

regardless, it deals with where I grew up. I'm not using it to offend gay people and I make sure not to say it around someone that gay so

I personally hope that as you get older you'll be able to grow out of saying those things. I understand saying it as I have before and it's hard to get over it, but at least you know you do and admit to it and from that you can grow forward and beat the past in that way.

Though I'm not gay, I find it offensive for people to say these things simply because of my very good friends who are gay. I hope that everybody at some point are able to go beyond saying these phrases, but I know it will take work and do not mind as long as people are willing to put forth effort to grow as people.

If you grow up around something where all of your friends and stuff are saying some things (slang words and stuff in general), you'll eventually end up saying it too. Especially growing up when I did it was something everybody said. It's hard to just stop saying certain things and breaking habits like that when you've been saying it for years and years.

Did I tell you to stop immediately? No. I said over time to grow and understand. I grew up in a household where gay people were considered evil because of our religious beliefs. In the past four years I've grown to now become best friends with a few gay guys and understand what our differences are. I believe that you should grow despite what it around you, you do have that power. The people around you do not control you, and so over time I am hopeful that you can grow to become a wholesome person who does not say things like that.

Lil Wayne - I Am Not A Human Being II
IANAHB: 2.75/5
-Very much prepared for this to be the best track on the album. As you might expect, this one is largely about sex, though when he goes on about other stuff, it sounds more vintage like Wayne. However, he'll quickly ruin it by talking about pussy and his dick again.
Curtains (ft. Boo): 2.75/5
-This is just "I Ain't Nervous", which was a leak from a couple of months ago. One of the (sadly) better leaks and has some autotune on the hook and believe it or not, he's got a bitch slurpin' on his serpent. I honestly don't hate this track and I'm ashamed for saying that.
Days and Days (ft. 2 Chainz): 2.5/5
-You know a song is bad when you say, "2 Chainz wasn't that bad here," since it's impossible for him not to be bad.
Gunwalk (ft. Gudda Gudda): 2.25/5
-I lost cost of the number of times he says "*****" here. Just rattles it off. Jesus man.
No Worries (ft. Detail): 2.25/5
-Autotuned here. Filled with corny bars, i.e. the typical Lil Wayne song. At least he didn't say ***** every other word in this one. He's back on his obsession with pussy here though. Wayne screams randomly during the hook though, which ruins the song in its entirety, not that it wasn't bad before.
Back to You: 2.5/5
-I zoned out during this one a bit, but it honestly wasn't too bad. That was until I heard Wayne say, "I need an ASSistant".
Trigger Finger (ft. Soulja Boy): 1.75/5
-Soulja Boy is so bad.
Beat the Shit (ft. Gunplay): 1.5/5
-Oh my God what. The beginning of the hook isn't bad, but then he starts talking about "pussy ass niggas who talking shit". Wayne confirmed for being president of swagfags.
Rich as Fuck (ft. 2 Chainz): 2.25/5
-"I don't talk to cops, I don't speak pig latin", is admittedly funny.
Trippy (ft. Juicy J): 2/5
-Wayne spazzes like a moron again during the hook.
Bitches Love Me (ft. Drake & Future): 3/5
-I like the hook by Future and Drake admittedly. I like it enough that it softened me up to the Lil Wayne verses.
Romance: 2.25/5
-Wayne gives his idea of romance; sex. He sounds bored here.
God Bless Amerika: 2.5/5
-Much like Romance, Wayne sounds bored here.
Wowzers (ft. Trina): 1.25/5
-Oh no, "Soulja Boy on the beat". Trina makes this awkward for whatever reason, not that Wayne didn't already do that.
Hello (ft. Shane Heyl): .25/5
-Oh my is this bad. Please, nobody listen to this. Just skip.

32/60 = 2.13

This album was just downright horrible. Don't listen.
