Quick Mafs, Maurice Picard, Bob Bergen, Danny Mete and Reginald MacIntyre.. You may not have heard of these guys yet but they are making a name for themselves on the global stage. These are the united Kingdom defenders and some of the best blue liners to come out of the past few drafts... and thats what's made last seasons silver medal run so improbable as there isnt a defender within the group above the 800 TPE mark! Jasper Clayton, these young D-Men and the oldest forward group in the IIHF found magic together and credit should be given to Coach Nobody.. a rookie GM who was intrusted with the Kingdom after Eggy stepped down and moved into the front office in S38.

Over his 3 season span as federation head, Nobody has done an excellent job finding the next generation of UK talent... but that task should get significantly harder moving forward as Raven Silverwing prepares for his last tournament. This could also be Nicholas Pedersons swan song... in total there are 6 starters with 13 proffesional seasons under their belt with another 4 who have played more then 10! But while this group is together they form a dangerous unit with the skill and experience to make another run at a medal.

What to look out for:
Keep an eye out for young defenceman Bob Bergen who just moved up to the SHL and is in the running for the rookie of the year award, Bergen's increased role should add some needed strength to the UK defence. Reginald Rove saw limited minutes in his debut to international play.. now unbanked and playing for Manhatten, Rove could be in line for more minutes in this seasons tourny.

S41 Outlook:
The young UK defenders were up to the task in S39, but the same concerns still linger here in S40 as they will have to win their assignments against defenders with higher skilled player builds. Allot is riding on them and the play of their guardian in goal, Michael Mcfadden.
