Hot goaltender keeps Whalers in it While the Detroit Falcons dominated the play for the final period, and the overtime they ran into a hot goaltender for the Whalers in Casmir Stevens, who ended up getting the first star of the game rightfully so. This game had no business going into a shootout with the Whalers hanging on during the 3rd for dear life. Their play didn't exactly inspire much hope in the overtime frame, but maybe that was the game plan...to just weather the storm for a chance to steal the game in the shootout. The Whalers ended up coming out of the game short of a win after failing to redeem their selves with not scoring a single goal in the shootout. The Whalers will have to buy their goaltender Stevens dinner after this one for his effort.
