It has only been two seasons in the SMJHL but they were two good ones. Putting away one 4 star cup championship, but falling short on the second cup for the repeat in year two. Zadina knows it will be a big step walking in to San Fransico this season but is for sure looking forward to the challenge. Zadina knows he has the type of scoring ability and defense that can transfer to the SHL but his main concerns right now are Strength and Endurance. Strength training will be the first on Zadina’s list to work on, he knows he will be limited minutes in his rookie year so the endurance will come second but being able to battle with the stronger and more mature players of the SHL will be the biggest test. Zadina will have to improve his game all around but these two aspects will be the ones he needs to improve on the most. Code: Task 05: (Written, up to 6 TPE) 3) The MVP so far these playoffs seems to me like a no brainer, I look straight to Goaltender Beaujeaux Biscuit. Biscuit has put up some incredible numbers this post season including a .941 Save percentage, and a 1.82 goals against average which by far has been the biggest impact on the playoffs. Biscuit has carried the Platoon through these playoffs. 8) The way Beajeaux Biscuit has carried him self this playoff run has been something to be seen. Kata Vilde has been right there beside him but there is one main stat that sticks out between the two players that makes a huge difference, Goals against average. Beaujeaux is sitting right at the 1.83 mark while Vilde has had an issue keeping his goals against average below the 3.00 mark, which will make a big difference in the series. Code: Task 09: (Written, 3 TPE) When it comes to disappointments among the SHL teams that had a great regular season but couldn’t put things together come playoffs no one better comes to mind then the New Orleans Specters. The Specters finished the season atop their division, which isn’t the part that made the lapse of not making the finals such a sting, but instead it more fell on who they lost to along the way. In the second round the Specters ran into a Texas Renegades team that despite finishing with 16 less points on the season decided to make a statement. The series went the distance and it took all 7 games to decide the outcome but back to back wins by the Renegades in games 6 and 7 send the Specters home for the season. Both games were decided by one goal and played a big role in what could have changed a lot in the conference finals. Code: Task 11: (Written, 3 TPE) When you talk about players that could have been a great addition to either of the teams in the finals, and now seeing that the result ended in a West Kendall Platoon sweep of the Calgary Dragons, you cannot avoid the idea of what if they could have added one more stud defenseman to their back end. The Dragons eliminated the Edmonton Blizzard in the first round of this years playoffs and if they could have added the addition of Brady McIntyre maybe they could have wrote and entire different chapter to their story. The Dragons struggled to slow down the offense that was in West Kendall and they needed the pairings to due so. Even then it would have been a very difficult task keeping that Platoon offense in check but it would have been a lot more likely of a goal if they had some more depth on their back end. Code: Task 12: (Written, 3 TPE) When it comes to adversity in the playoffs out of the two teams that made it to the finals, the Calgary Dragons and the West Kendall Platoon, the only team really to face some adversity on their path to the finals had to be the West Kendall Platoon. Entering the second round of the playoffs, they had just swept the Chicago Syndicate and were looking poised for another deep run in the playoffs. That’s when the Buffalo Stampede caught a West Kendall team after a long break from their sweep. The Stampede came out of the gate flying and West Kendall struggled to get their legs back under them. West Kendall lost 3 of their next four games against the Stampede and only put 6 goals in four games behind the Stempede’s net minder. It was not the start the platoon wanted going into the second round but it sure was one they needed to bounce back from, and they did. The next 3 games were owned by the Platoons net as they only allowed 3 goals over the next 3 games to take all 3 games and also the series.
