Kane's been one of the lucky hockey players where injuries have never held him back. He's never had a major injury that required a long time out and he's never had small nagging injuries that could affect his play until this season. Kane's never been an aggressive player as he has relied heavily on his skill to carry his game. Don't get me wrong, he's never played a light game either because he has thrown the body around and will do so in certain moments, but he's never really been a fighter. That changed this season as Kane took some boxing classes in the off-season as he wanted to be able to protect the young guys coming into the league if needed. He's now had a total of 5 fights this year (3 in the pre-season and 2 in the regular season so far) and it's started to cause some pains in his hands. His goal scoring is down drastically this year which might be because of those pains.
