Next season is definitely New England's time to shine. No longer do we live under the tyranny of Simon T -- we have been blessed to be taken in by the new, merciful sim god, Franchise Hockey Manager. This likely means that our stacked roster will finally be able to do something other than barely miss a wildcard spot despite having the highest average TPE in the league. We will be the powerhouse team that other teams will look to beat, unless our coaches end up rolling some very sub optimal strats (which I hope is not the case please @hotdog I beg you I can't take any more failure). In fact, the only reason why we would not be the favourites for the cup is because another team has vastly more experience than us in constructing FHM rosters and lines. This is entirely possible, but I believe in the FHM experts in our LR to guide us to the promised land. Also, worst odds go to the Toronto North Stars, because 1) have you seen their roster? and 2) @ml002 is a bad coach whose luck will run out at some point.

By now, you're probably familiar with the attributes on FHM, and you likely have some sense of what type of build you're going to be aiming for with your player. What one attribute are you going to focus on most? Of all the attributes in the game, what is your player going to strive to be the absolute best at? Why are you picking that specific attribute above all others?

I'm going to give two answers here -- one serious and one not so serious. Starting with the serious one, my attribute of choice would definitely be offensive read. Since I'm building a relatively balanced quarterback, the most important ability for Guy Zheng is to be able to assess offensive situations (such as on the powerplay), and make the best decisions in order to enable my teammates to score. Of course, there are many other attributes that will need to be good as well in order to complement offensive read, such as passing and stickhandling. My non-serious answer is aggression, because it's always been my dream to build a complete caveman.

After a full season of grinding through every game, getting pucks deep, getting pucks on net, trying our best to get lucky bounces, outworking the other guys, playing with tenacity and grit, playing with skill and speed, and making sure our passes connect, Guy Zheng is ready to kick off his skates and rest for a little bit. Sure, he'll be spending a lot of time with skills coaches in order to adapt his game to the new style of play that is being applied to the league, but what he's looking forward to most is to just stay at home, sit in front of the computer, and play his favourite video game: Eastside Hockey Manager. Guy admits that it's an actual piece of shit game that only works half the time and doesn't make sense the other half of the time, but there's a certain charm to it that he somehow cannot resist.

If I were on the award committee, the player that I would likely nominate for an award in a future season is Dominic Montgomery. Although the recent advanced stats report that came out painted a pretty damning picture of his play (almost the highest number of turnovers in the league? @bilbo what are you doing get yourself under control), I'm sure with the FHM switch that is coming up, bilbo will be smart enough to actually go with a good build and put their hard earned teps to good use. Because of this, and the stacked defensive core of the Pride, I believe that being such an integral part of a strong team (with a good build as well) will lead to many Stevens and Biscuit nominations for young Montgomery.

The SHL is taking a stand and trying to do its part in reducing its carbon footprint. One of the proposed ideas is to eliminate back and forth air travel during the Challenge Cup and Four Star Cup finals and instead hold all 4-7 games in one neutral, rotating location a la the Super Bowl. Are you FOR or AGAINST this idea? Why?

I am against this idea. Before anyone reading this gets all outraged because they think I hate the environment or don't care about climate change, let me explain why I'm against it. I'm against it because I don't think it goes far enough. Climate change and the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere is one of the biggest hurdles that humanity has ever faced. In a few decades, the wildfires that happened in Australia won't even be looked at as significant anymore. The acidification of the oceans and global catastrophe that climate change will bring will dwarf anything that we've seen so far. This is why I believe the league needs to take an even stronger stance on reducing its carbon footprint and hold every game (regular season and playoffs, for every team) in one single city in order to cut down on travel.

Congrats [TEAM] (Manhattan Rage)! You did really well to beat [OTHER TEAM] (San Francisco Pride)! Reflecting back on the series, I think [PLAYER] (Alex Winters) really deserves the series MVP vote, solely because he scored the cup winning goal. Just like how I believe Lars Eller deserved to win the Conn Smythe because he scored the cup winning goal in the NHL for the caps back in the historical 2018 Stanley Cup finals against the historic Vegas Golden Knights team. However, there is also a case to be made for Jax Aittokallio to win the series MVP, because he scored the game tying goal that lead to the Rage's 3 goal rally to close out the game. Similar to the analogy above, I wouldn't have been mad if Devante Smith Pelly won the Conn Smythe because he scored the historic game-tying goal in the last game of the cup finals.
