Shoutout to @Mike Izzy for the phenomenal-as-always video work
Welcome to the last finals on STHS! Which team will close out this era of SHL??? Here are this season's tasks for CW. The maximum, as always, is 16 TPE, uncapped and with a cherry on top. Mix and match whatever tasks you desire, but the maximum TPE to be earned from this is 16. The deadline is Tuesday, March 10th at 11:59PM ET.

The SHL is taking a stand and trying to do its part in reducing its carbon footprint. One of the proposed ideas is to eliminate back and forth air travel during the Challenge Cup and Four Star Cup finals and instead hold all 4-7 games in one neutral, rotating location a la the Super Bowl. Are you FOR or AGAINST this idea? Why?

The arenas in San Francisco and New York certainly don't need any gimmicks to get people into the stadium for the series, but the arenas want to make sure they're pulling out all the stops on the big stage. Help the concessions department of one of these two teams develop a new product, with marketing specifically pertaining to this finals series, to be sold at the arena during the finals. 2: If I were to take over the casino and be in charge of odds for the season there are some pretty clear front runners and wooden spoon candidates. Starting with the possible champs you'd have to say (no bias) that New England Wolfpack are the front runners for the crown and therefore have the highest odds. Already highest league wide in average TPE they added stud defenseman Rex Kirkby over the off season and must be certainly expecting a run to the cup. Perennial challengers Buffalo, Nola, Edmonton and Manhattan will be hard challengers so they would have pretty short odds as well. At the bottom of the barrel its hard to look past Texas although they did add Gotze this season who should help a bit with their top 6 depth. This seasons wooden spooners Tampa are probably the most likely candidate again next season so i'd give them the longest odds at winning.

[158]

4: While this is a generic prompt and is used almost every season this off season at least for Rex Kirkby is a bit different from normal. While he will be doing all the regular things that players do in the off season, especially seeing as West Kendall once again failed to make the playoffs, he will also be moving home. After nine seasons playing in Miami he was part of an off season deal that sent him to Boston to play with the New England Wolfpack. So this off season he will be packing up his Miami Beach penthouse, although he won't be selling it, saying goodbye to his friends and team mates and be moving to a three story brownstone in the heart of Charlestown. While it is sad for Kirkby to say goodbye to his beloved Platoon he is excited at the prospect of being on such a strong roster and at the possibility of once again having the opportunity to raise the challenge cup.

[167]

6/16

5: Peter Larson is just coming in to his prime and while he hasn't won any individual awards as of yet I think he is about to start raking them in now. This season he has put himself in prime position to win the Mcbride and the Honcho as well as possibly even the Mexico. With the Rage roster showing no sign of slowing down and with Larson still at a very high level I can definitely see him adding a few more awards to his personal trophy cabinet over the next few seasons if he doesn't taper off in his effort and isn't surpassed by a goalie on another strong team.

[111]
8/16

14:
a: I have friends on both sides of this argument so its hard for me to choose a better pairing. I guess I have to go with Manhattan because they have been a more consistent challenger and Luke has experience in taking Vancouver to the finals where as Daft is new to management.

b: Going to have to go with Manhattans strategy here again. Playoffs hockey is always tougher and faster and in order to maintain pressure and a winning run you need everyone to be chipping in. I expect San Francisco to win a game or two using their top heavy strategy but I think ultimately the team using the broader assignments will take it.

c: Sorry but the Pride logo is dog shit. I like the team colours as they are quite unique but the logo itself is poos. On the other hand the rage went from one of the worst logos in the league to one of the best. Clean with great colours and a nice touch with the skyline at the base. Rage win this easily.

d: Leopold Lockhart blows everyone else out of the water. At first I thought Reginald MacIntyre was the best because we used to have a friendly seagull called reggie but realistically you can't go past Leopold. What a ridiculous name, it has a bit of everything. Polysyllabic, alliterative, a bit of a boy band vibe about it. Fantastic.

e: How could you choose any other option and dafts internet history? The man is an absolute freak and you are sure to learn some things about yourself as well as what is in the darkest corners of the internet. Interesting, challenging, terrifying and hilarious you are bound to experience the full range of emotions on this one.

I want desperatley to say Calgary because we should go in to S53 near the top of the league in TPE... but honestly we have to look at who's been testing and for how long.. and when you do that there are some coaches and GM's on teams that have helped build the new engine specs through months of testing and i got to believe through this they picked up a level of sophistication on strategy that most of the other teams have not yet picked up on. These first few seasons are going to have allot of learning on the fly.. those that dont need any hand holding will have a real advantage. So im going to say that Hamilton with the knighted one Robby Phelps & the boy genius Aaron Wilson are the favorites going into S53. If not Hamilton then id guess that Tomen, WBF and their stampede are right there too as the team to beat early on.

Moving into my 19th off season Mike Izzy knows what it takes to have his mind and body prepared for the rigors of the SHL, so i plan to spend this off season doing things with my son #A-Rye who just turned 14 and has recently taken a liking to the track. His old man loves betting horses!.. so much that i bought #A-Rye a colt named #Mare_izzy back when he was 7. We had some trouble with #mare-Izzy.. they wouldnt allow him into our Toronto penthouse and bitched about us leaving him in our parking spot.  So #A-Rye eventually traded the stallion for either a puppy or a taser.. i cant remember. The Kid also watches allot of pornhub, but as a father i cant allow that.. so ive put strict parental controls on 2 of his iphones. Mike Izzy also loves to give back so Ill also spend some time in Whitby at the #Throat-Izzy foundation for kids with shitty esophagus's... cause the throat aint no joke.

The Pride are the epitamy of a ‘team’ as they don’t boast that 1 star.. that one guy that you think of when hearing the name San Francisco.. they have reached the finals collaboratley through hard work and strong player build earning.. a strategy you don’t typically see in the SHL. Manhattan has reached the finals with a more standard approach relying on some of there top tier players to carry them and one of those guys is Luke Thomason. Luke is a special young talent who combines a hall of fame work ethic with the promise of a skill level that borders on generational talent. Thomason began to live up to those lofty expectations scoring 53 points and 145 hits in S52. My guess is Luke will enjoy at least 1 Ron Mexico nomination before his career winds down.

While the idea is noble, it does not highlight the positive aspects of a challenge cup series coming to a teams home town. The SHL typically runs auctions and events which goes to a host of charities within that teams state. Players in the challenge cup visit local schools with positive messages. Players appear all over town boosting sales and revenue for local establishments. The SHL cares about global warming and he environment but there are better times to promote that then in the challenge cup where so many positive things happen in the cities that it’s being played in.

This reality is just one of infinite realities existing alongside this one in parallel. Take us over to one of those realities in which everything is the same but these S52 playoffs have unfolded differently. What happened in that reality's playoffs and who's in the Challenge Cup over there?

Imagine a world in which Minnesota would’ve called up Cal Labovitch. And a world in which Cal didn’t suck at playing in the playoffs. With his potential for both assists and goal scoring, let’s assume Cal’s talent could’ve given the Chiefs that little nudge needed to make the playoffs this season. And let’s assume that they got through the first round of the playoffs without much of a problem as well. Turning the second power play unit into a true goal scoring weapon, just like in his rookie Detroit Falcon’s season, Cal would’ve lifted the spirits of his Minny teammates and helped them bag enough goals to defeat the Pride on their way to the finals and face-off against the Manhattan Rage. In a whirling 7 game series, Cal’s newly found defensive responsibility paired with the effectiveness of that second power play unit, will see the Chiefs grab the cup.

What one attribute are you going to focus on most? Of all the attributes in the game, what is your player going to strive to be the absolute best at? Why are you picking that specific attribute above all others?

Cal has always been a pass-first type of player. With the switch to the FHM, he will be working hard to be an effective setup man for the Detroit Falcons next season, and the Minnesota Chiefs in the seasons to come. As a setup man, one of the most important qualities is the ability to give tape-to-tape passes and put his teammates in a position to score. He wants to give defence-splitting passes, landing right on the stick of the other Detroit and Minny forwards. The key-attribute for this is obviously passing, and that’s exactly what Cal is going to be focusing his build around.

Quote:4. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.)
The Most Generic Prompt of All Time - what is your player looking forward to in the offseason? What are they planning on doing? Training? Relaxing? Testing free agency? Whatever it is, let us know!

The S52 regular season saw Cal Labovitch rising to the top of the points table in the SMJHL, carrying the Falcons to a top of the table finish in a lot of their games. Especially in the first half of the season, with Kekkonen not playing at his full potential, Cal came up big for Detroit. Unfortunately, he could not continue this trend in the playoffs.
This off-season, Cal is going to focus even more on growing his passing ability, while also striving to be even more defensively responsible. However, that’s not all he’s going to do this summer. After having seen the differences between Swiss hockey and the SMJHL and SHL, Cal is going back to Switzerland for a few weeks this summer to launch his own series of hockey camps. Eager to teach the Swiss youth the necessary skills to make it in the bigger leagues, he will be hosting three two-week camps in Lausanne, Geneva and Davos.

Which player from the Rage or the Pride would you bet on to win a regular season individual award in a future season? What player and what award? What makes you think they'll live up to their potential and take home the hardware?

Manhattan Rage forward Luca Veccelli is definitely a name to remember for the future. The Swiss-born center already showed a few glimmers of his magnificent skills in the regular season, posting 16 points in 50 games as a rookie and finishing the season at +7. His 54% face-off percentage is definitely a strong part of his game. And given that he’s still young, if he can keep developing like he did this season he will most certainly be a strong contender for the Aidan Richan Trophy in a season or two., taking home the trophy for the most improved player.

One of the proposed ideas is to eliminate back and forth air travel during the Challenge Cup and Four Star Cup finals and instead hold all 4-7 games in one neutral, rotating location a la the Super Bowl. Are you FOR or AGAINST this idea? Why?

I’m absolutely against this preposterous idea. Not only does it rob fans from both teams of their chance to see their idols compete fiercely for the cup at a reasonable price, it also doesn’t even stand a chance of reducing the carbon footprint. What you will get is two teams of 22 players, the team staff and possibly a few board members of both teams staying in one location while thousands of fans have to spend thousands of dollars on airfare , hotels and tickets to see these games. You’re actually more likely to have a vastly increased carbon footprint, while upsetting a lot of fans at the same time.

1. In terms of head GM, the Manhatten Rage and San Fransisco Pride are quite similar, neither of the two giving the team a real edge. I have no idea about the rest of their front office staff, so I am totally going to disregard those and jump straight to what I will think give the Manhattan Rage the edge over the San Franscisco Pride: Co-gm Luketd. Cause he said I remind him of himself and I’d like to think I’d give my team the edge as well.

2. Depth wins games. The Rage ability to field three strong forward lines, and not heavily depend on 6 players making the difference all playoffs, will give them a better chance of winning the close, hard games expected from a final round. Their forwards will have more left in their tank for this series, and it will start to show when it is needed.

3. First of all: I’m really happy for both teams, and Imma let you finish.. But the Minnesota Chiefs have one of the best logos of all time. Both since this is between the Rage and the Pride, I like the ominous expression of the Rage logo more than the Pride logo.

4. Rainbow Dash takes the cake here. Not that I’m a brony, but I always found My Little Pony quite amusing. Therefore, to see one of the characters names represented in this game and on this team is something I definitely enjoy. Also, the other names were all kinda boring, so..

So this parallel reality is what i like to call the "RedCapeDiver gets all the TPE from his S52 Season Predictions" reality. Its a reality in which, obviously, i get as much TPE as possible. As we go into the playoffs the Edmonton Blizzard have a strangle hold on the standings, winning the presidents trophy by 15 points. With a by in the first round the blizzard come up against the Calgary Dragons, and our hero's of this story dispatch the dragons in 5 games. They then face the San Francisco Pride and have a grueling 7 game series, which has a story book triple overtime game seven conclusion. On the other side of the bracket is this story's villain, the Chicago Syndicate who have dispatched both the Manhattan Rage, and the Buffalo Stampede on their trek to the Challenge cup finals. The story end with the Edmonton Blizzard sweeping the Chicago Syndicate because all i care about are my TPE from the S52 Season Predictions

You're put in charge of making the casino odds on the Cup winner for next season. Whom are you giving the best and the worst odds to, and what's your reasoning?
I think the best odds would have to go to New England, my basis is that they had the highest average TPE as of the media post by BrewskyBoy as well as making a big trade for Rex Kirby from the West Kendall Platoon. This is because from what i have seen, it seems that having a higher TPE has alot more benefits in Fantasy Hockey Manager 6 rather than Simon T who just pulls shit out of his ass apparently. I wont give an actual odds number to them as i'm currently hungover while writing this and dont want to think about it. And for the worst odds i am going to stick with my strategy of just going off of the average TPE table and say that Toronto is going to have the worst odds. This is funny as i believe that Toronto is the team that kept New England out of this years playoffs because fuck it SimonT does what he wants.

I'm going to start this off by saying that i am going to cheat a little bit and say two attributes, they are for the same reason so I think its fine. the two attributes are Offensive Read and Defensive Read. These stats effect how well you player can read the ice and the play is developing while on both offense and defense and how they should react to that. I think these stats are just as important if not more important that the actual physical capability stats like skating, passing, and shooting accuracy. If your player has the best shot in the league, but he can see that standing in the corner while being double teamed is probably not the best position to be in, then you arent going to be able to get many scoring chances.

Unfortunately the Kelowna Knights were unable to reach the finals again and get a second shot at the Cup, so again Adam Scianna is going into the off-season a little disappointed but ready to prepare for next season. Scianna's offseason is looking pretty full, he's got the IIHF season coming up in which he has joined the Norway management in preparation of the upcoming rule changes, which unfortunately are not being implemented this year. He is also both a player and Co-GM of Team World in the WJC, last year he had the GM all by himself so hopefully this year with someone else helping Team World can have a good tournament and win the gold. And in terms of preparation for next year, Adam has enlisted the help of a former SHL coach, and he estimates an approximately 21.4%  increase in Adam's skill level, but unfortunately for whatever reason this increase wont take effect for either IIHF of WJC.

I am greatly against this idea, and not because i hate the environment, but because it hurts the fans. Take this finals series, San Francisco vs Manhattan, two cities on opposite sides of the United States, now if it was decided earlier that the finals were going to be held in Texas, then fans from both teams would have to fork out alot of money to fly and stay in Texas instead of seeing their team play at home. Also i think that this would cause alot more travel and in turn not reduce the carbon footprint but instead increase it more than what it is now

Why are you picking that specific attribute above all others?

FHM is a world of unlimited possibilities, and each player can find a new and exciting role to fill in their team. Kenny Creller is going to be the best at one thing and really outshine his opposition there. His main goal is to get into corners, come out with the puck and get it to someone in a position to score. He will work best with a perimeter shooter build but can make due with a strong pointman or sniper. No one is going to be able to outmuscle him in corners so the opposition better be ready to stick double coverage on him.

The Most Generic Prompt of All Time - what is your player looking forward to in the offseason? What are they planning on doing? Training? Relaxing? Testing free agency? Whatever it is, let us know!

Kenny Creller is looking forward to next season. With big changes coming league wide, he is doing his best to be at the top of his game as he joins the Panthers roster. While the team figures out where their needs are over the next few seasons, Creller knows he needs to be versatile and really set himself up for the future instead of turning himself into a one dimensional player and really disrupting his future training plan. There is a lot of work to be done with regards to IIHF as well as he focuses his game more on being a 3rd line center to fill a gaping hole in the roster as Ireland really has no 2nd or 3rd line center. Before next season starts, Creller will really only have a few days to sit back and relax, but he plans on making sure he is well rested for the preseason.

Why?

I am against this idea, but I think it is an interesting concept. Possibly working it so it works like IIHF World Juniors where the games are played in nearby cities, but having all the games in one location really punish the fans that have been cheering their teams on all season long. Reducing the carbon footprint could be done in other ways throughout the regular season, such as keeping a string of games in one location and having home game stints as a minimum of a week long. We could also use an electric Zamboni, getting a sponsorship from Tesla to create and develop this would be a big move.

Describe the product and the marketing in 150 words or create a promotional poster showing the product, its name, the price, etc.

Let us introduce the Pride Foot Long Whistle Dog served with a 32 Oz Manhattan(4 Oz bourbon, 2 Oz Vermouth). This combo goes for an affordable $29.99 at concessions and promises to get you fucked up. The Whistle Dog is served on a rainbow bun, just like kids used to eat in elementary school. Sure, the bun tastes like shit, but kids eat ass now so they can't complain. The foot long dog is stuffed with cheese and covered in bacon, served with a nice jalapeno aioli with a condiment bar off to the side for you to get creative. The Manhattan is created from one of the longest known Manhattan recipes and was perfected by the best mixologist in New York, Jim Meehan. Be sure to get yours today to have your mind blown!

Please don't complain about the lines for the bathrooms if you order one of these combos, you know what you signed up for.

3. The Manhattan Rage logo is superior to the Pride logo. The Pride logo is one singular lion whereas a Pride is multiple. The Rage logo is embodied by an angry bear and truly embodies the message their team tries to get across. Even though the Pride have been in the league for awhile, they still have a stupid name.

4.While the Pride have a stupid team name, they are home to one of the best player names in the SHL. Nathan Explosion is an iconic member of Dethklok and transfers his death metal mentality onto the ice. While there are names that rhyme or have innuendo, Nathan Explosion stands alone as the best name.

This reality is just one of infinite realities existing alongside this one in parallel. Take us over to one of those realities in which everything is the same but these S52 playoffs have unfolded differently. What happened in that reality's playoffs and who's in the Challenge Cup over there?

To throw a bit of a curveball out here, I'm gonna name a team that did not even manage to qualify for the S52 playoffs as the team that wins in this alternate reality: the New England Wolfpack. An article was posted outlining the TPE of teams, and with New England impressively topping that chart, it's ludicrous that they even missed out on the playoffs at all. In this alternate reality, Ola Wagstrom contends for the MVP award as expected, and Johannes Leitner goes back from his awful play the past couple seasons more towards the great form that won him MVP a few seasons ago. In the finals, they play current finalist San Francisco, and take it in 6 games. It is pretty clear that New England only missed out in the first place because of 'bad luck' (also known as the sim engine being bad), and in a reality where good management is rewarded with the deserved results, New England would have been my favourites for the S52 cup. You're put in charge of making the casino odds on the Cup winner for next season. Whom are you giving the best and the worst odds to, and what's your reasoning?

I will give out two teams for the best and worst odds:

Best:

1. New England Wolfpack: They made a massive move by acquiring one of the league's best defencemen in Rex Kirkby, who will be a fantastic addition to their squad as they really push to compete after a lackluster few seasons now, and very few of their core players are regressing.

2. Manhattan Rage: Manhattan is in a great spot at the moment, hence why they made the finals, and with their oldest player being from S41, their squad is right in its window to compete heavily again next season.

Worst:

1. Toronto North Stars: In the middle of a tank, Toronto is building its team to acquire prospects in order to build the team from the bottom-up. They will not be competitive at all next season.

2. West Kendall Platoon: Having sold Rex Kirkby, there is not much left in terms of pieces to make WKP a competitive side at all, and they are quite close to Toronto now in terms of overall ability, likely tanking as well. (181 words)

I am aiming to build a defenseman that is very swift at going end-to-end, and can be a big offensive contributor while also not being a liability at the other end. Acceleration and Speed are two main attributes I've looked at as I look to make Johnson a great Mobile Defenseman or Rushing Defenseman. As I am soon going to be entering the elite bracket for TPE for defensemen, now is the time to try and build myself into a big-game offense player who can solidify a historic career in Hamilton. Having wanted to make a fast-skating defenseman since I joined the league, actually having that opportunity in FHM is exciting. (111 words)

The Most Generic Prompt of All Time - what is your player looking forward to in the offseason? What are they planning on doing? Training? Relaxing? Testing free agency? Whatever it is, let us know!

Gabe Johnson has found his career home in Hamilton, hence why he signed a 9-year contract with the team last offseason. He considered the possibility of branching out and testing free agency, but knows that it would be impossible to play for anyone else. After winning the Challenge Cup in S51, Johnson wanted to get a repeat trophy pretty badly in S52, but ultimately the team was trounced in the first round in 5 games by Buffalo. Johnson was devastated by this result, especially so considering he was quite poor on both ends of the ice throughout the series. He's going to take the time in the off-season to train very hard, and work out the weaker aspects of his game to compensate for performing overall worse in S52 than he did in S51. He feels confident he can improve greatly next season and be one of the better blueliners in the league if he puts in the adequate training in the off-season. (165 words)

Which player from the Rage or the Pride would you bet on to win a regular season individual award in a future season? What player and what award? What makes you think they'll live up to their potential and take home the hardware?

Leopold Lockhart has had a fantastic season for San Francisco, and after many seasons failing to really hit his stride, the S45 first overall pick has really come into his own playing on a line with Dominic Montgomery. Lockhart had 12 goals on the man-advantage, which puts him among the best in that category in the SHL's history. With 15 goals and 41 points on the season, Lockhart broke out massively as an offensive defenseman, and with him still a couple seasons off regression while Charlie Schieck himself is getting on with age, look for him to be in contention for the Scott Stevens trophy in the near future, perhaps even as soon as next season. Part 1: Alternate Reality (+3 TPE)
Code:
Believe it or not, there is a reality where the Toronto North Stars managed to make it to the Finals, along with the LA Panthers.
In Round 1, the Panthers continued their trend from last season’s Playoffs, shocking the league with the sweep of Calgary. Toronto’s road was not so simple, but they managed to wrangle victory over Buffalo in a 7-game slugfest with more than one line brawl and three games that went into double overtime.
In Round 2, the face off between the Californian teams; LA edged out the Pride in 6 games, but the games didn’t feel very decisive. Toronto dropped the first 2 games against Hamilton, before turning it around and pulling off a reverse sweep.
Round 3 saw LA rematch against New Orleans with much the same result as last season, while Toronto seems to have found a rhythm, knocking out the reality curveball Chicago in 5 games.

Part 2: Setting Odds (+3 TPE)
Code:
Best Odds: Hamilton.
It may seem sketchy but considering the amount of work that Teddy and Aaron are doing as a part of the FHM testing team, they probably have some ideas on how to structure strategies and builds to get a temporary edge on the rest of the crowd. Hopefully this time, they’ll keep to using their powers for good instead of cheating.

Meh Odds: Minnesota.
I think it’s entirely reasonable, even without the bias that comes with their name on my checks, that Minnesota will make it to the Playoffs next season. They may even make it to Round 2.
At this point, it’s difficult to say whether or not that’s their ceiling right now. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Worst Odds: Toronto.
With the stability that will hopefully be introduced with FHM, ml can finally live his dreams of tanking harder than the Edmonton Oilers. I mean, seriously. Dude’s probably going to tank for a couple of seasons, and then tank a little more just for the luxury at this point.

Part 3: FHM Best Ability (+2 TPE)
Code:
I’ve been building a blended Gretzky’s Office/Playmaker/Counterattacking Forward concept. It tops out a little over 1500 TPE, and really focuses on Agility, Offensive Read, and Passing, with secondary focuses on Acceleration, Defensive Read, Face Offs, Getting Open, Speed, and Stamina. Out of all of that, the thing that I’d like to be best at is probably Offensive Read.
The whole build is based on the idea of a player who is in the middle of the game as long as he’s on the ice but isn’t necessarily making the goals. Danny is more about being the guy to make sure it gets done, whether it’s a taken face off, a block in front of his own net, or setting up the play on the other side of the ice. It’s heavily focused on knowing what’s happening and what’s going to happen. Offensive Read is a big part of that, and I’d like to be one of the best at it.
(160 Words)

Part 4: Off-Season Plans (+3 TPE)
Code:
Danny Marston is going to delay going home for a week after the season. He plans to lock himself in his apartment and sleep off the season. After that, he’ll be flying to Tampa to visit family. Hopefully he’ll be able to bring the Four Star Cup with him.
Back home, his little brother’s varsity baseball team is entering tournament season, expecting to make a deep run. Spring Break is next week, so the Rec needs a hand with their youth hockey camps. Grandpa is finally medically clear to play golf again after his knee replacement. Danny’s little sister wants to go up to Orlando for the weekend to go to Universal Studios and maybe the outlet malls close by.
Lots is going on in the Marston family, and Danny’s excited for it. The only really terrible thing about Danny’s career is how far away its taken him from his family, and how much he misses them while he's away. Getting to go home is always great.
(167 Words)

Part 6: FOR/AGAINST- Neutral Site Finals (+2 TPE)
Code:
I am FOR this idea. In fact, I’d take it an extra step: set Rounds 2 as neutral site games in specific neutral sites while the Finals rotate, similar to NCAA Football's Bowls and Playoff.
We do 50 games in a season, 4 to 5 seasons per year. The average season, including Playoffs, is about 65 days. That means that in most cases, we’re doing more than one game every day. It’s fucking exhausting. Doing 2 Playoff games per day means getting up and getting on the plane. Eating on the plane. Sleeping on the plane. We barely get morning skates and showers with our travel schedule.
Cutting down the travel does more than curb the carbon footprint of our transport. It gives us more time to practice, sleep, and unwind. There’s so much pressure, and we’re handling it with shortened planning and practice time and very little, rather terrible rest.
Imagine, high-stakes games where we’re rested enough to play at our fullest potential. Who doesn’t want that?
(168 Words)

Part 8: Product Placement (+3 TPE)

Code:
In coordination with national partner, Dunkin Donuts, the Manhattan Rage and San Francisco Pride will be available in donut form across the country in support of the Finalists.
The Rage Roll, for Manhattan, is a decadent red velvet cake, topped with dark chocolate ganache icing, and filled with cream cheese icing.
The Pride Pastry, for San Francisco, is a mixed berry (blueberry, blackberry, and red grapes) cake donut with lemon glaze and gold sprinkles.
Limited Time Offer! Get yours before the start of the S53 Draft!

Part 10: Thank You Card (No TPE, I just want to do this.)
So, I wanted to do this as intended, but I haven't been able to use my PC this week. No graphics. :(

Thank you to everyone who's been working on the FHM Transition. I can't imagine how much work every one of you has put into something that seems to be such a great move for this community. I've been keeping up with the updates that Teddy's put out, and it's so exciting.

So, thank you.

1. In the parallel universe, it is one that sees the overall result not change, but how we got there change. In this universe, Manhattan probably doesn’t fall down 3-1 in the first round against Chicago. We’d obviously still win, but it would be better without three straight dear god please nothing go wrong games. The same result would follow in the next round, but we would get our revenge on Hamilton rather than our revenge on Buffalo. A revenge sweep would be cool, although I guess we did win one game last year so I’ll be polite and give them one as well. In the Cup final, we would keep our matchup against San Francisco. After the mid S40s, SFP and MAN looked to be poised to meet repeatedly for the Cup, but other things got in the way. The matchup was fun and winning it before a truly desperate Game 7 saved a ton of stress. WC: 157

2. So odds are always a mess and I don’t know how Infidel seems to make them so accurate when he did them for the casino. But anyways, it would be hard for me to say that Manhattan, San Francisco, New England and New Orleans are among the teams that should be near the top for odds, probably in that 4:1 to like 8:1 range. Teams that also could be in that conversation would be Hamilton, Buffalo, and Edmonton. The teams at the bottom of odds would absolutely be Toronto, Tampa Bay, and Texas. Those three teams are going through some sort of rebuild and with FHM’s likelihood to actually reward good teams versus super random teams going on unexpected runs, then they should be at the bottom. I believe they’re also among the bottom teams with regards to average TPE as well, so I would likely put their odds nearer to 40:1. WC: 152

3. Yeah my player is going to be a playmaker through and through now that FHM actually rewards some of us that want to focus on that side of offense. The focus for my player will be on passing, offensive read, and a solid balance on the remaining stats. I like that I should be able to influence the game more with some more shooting based teammates like Luke or Leafer, and I think it’ll be awesome for making it so every team doesn’t have the exact same build and set up for all of their players and lines like STHS does. WC: 101

4. I’m going to be enjoying the shortest offseason of my career, after Manhattan knocked off the San Francisco Pride in 6 games to win the Challenge Cup. I’ll get to spend part of my summer with the Cup, albeit I’m not sure what I’m going to be doing or where I’ll be going for my day with the Cup. I’m really kinda in awe still, but that’s probably because we’re still celebrating. Haven’t had the parade yet and really truly a bunch of us (Barret McCarthy, Luke Thomason, and David Vent the entire time with me while our teammates have been coming in and out) have just been going on a tour around the city partying and getting drunk with the Cup in different bars, clubs and events around New York. Beneficially, we won at home so we basically just walked out of the Garden with the Cup and partied with whomever we could find. And that’s all we’ve been doing for the last week. WC: 165

5. If I’m betting on Rage players, there’s only one answer to this and everyone knows it: Peter Larson. Sure Luke Thomason should win an MVP award in the future, and Barret McCarthy and Alex Winters have won the Jesster Trophy. Larson is the only answer though. The man should absolutely win the McBride award for the top goalie this season and I think he should be the playoff MVP as well. There’s no way that we would have made the playoffs, much less win the Cup, without Larson being the best goalie in the league. He’s an absolute stud and I think he’s going to be the best goalie in the league for a long time. WC: 116

14.
14a: I’m biased as a member of Manhattan’s management while serving as Head Coach, but I think we have the advantage. My colleagues worked relentlessly to put us in the best possible situation to win the Cup and I don’t think we would have won if it hadn’t been for a combination of all that hard work. WC: 56

14b: The three line balance is something that we debated strongly because for much of the season, we had worked with a two line stack similar to the way that San Francisco did in the finals. We decided that the three line version worked best, and that was backed up by our Cup win. WC: 53

14c: The logo that Manhattan swapped to when they rebranded in S43 or so is one of the top logos in the league, which, no offense intended to San Francisco, their basic lion is not. The details in the bull, with the M and the Empire State Building outline, put it over the top. WC: 53

In Simon, as a goalie builds got to be pretty cookie cutter as we all started figuring out what was really valuable, and what was basically pointless.  In FHM, the fact that we have more attributes to consider, at based on what was read in the manual, more attributes that will make a difference...in short...makes picking and choosing that much more important.  One thing that I will be focusing on, which is new in FHM compared to STHS, is the goal tending Mental Toughness attribute.  Letting a puck past the line, depending on this setting will either be devastating to a goalie and immediately put them on a cold streak...or it can be insignificant in "breaking" them, keeping them as the proverbial "Brick wall" that all goalies strive to be. Being in the finals (as of typing this), my mind is on the finals and finals alone.  If I start thinking about the off season now, then the quicker I will find myself playing there.  However, once it arrives I can assure you it will be similar to that of last off season.  I'll fly back home to St. Louis to visit family for a while, then I'll be back in Anaheim with Coach Tib watching the tapes of last season to figure out where I was lacking and how to improve it.  This time though, I'll be sure to drag Borro along too so that he can get some quality training time (even if I have to pay for it).

You know what, I take that back.  There will be one other thing different this off season compared to last season.  I hope to be in a parade, sporting my jersey and drinking brews...celebrating. (155 words)

Throughout the history of the SMJHL, SHL and other hockey leagues, there's been this stigma...or myth surrounding having "Home Ice Advantage".  To eliminate that and place the big show on neutral ground I think is a great idea that I am completely FOR.   It allows both teams to have equal representation, and truly leaves it down to the skills and abilities of the players on the ice.  No distractions.  Just pure, adrenaline filled focus.  Utilizing this idea to reduce the carbon footprint is just an additional bonus.  Climate change and global warming is the great enemy of our generation, and unless we as a people can come together and do something to combat it...it will be the enemy of the next generation, and next generation until finally...the generations can't sustain the fight.  We will literally turn Earth into the Earth from Wall-E, and then what?  Getting old, dumb and fat in space?  (152 words)

In another dimension far across the galaxy the S52 playoffs have unfolded completely differently. Both teams that are currently in the finals for S52 which are the  pride and  Rage did not make the finals. Instead we get a rematch in the finals of last year's finals between the  Blizzard and  Steelhawks There was a lot of controversy regarding this final with Hamilton having a lot of shooters and eventually caused a league change regarding player type for lineups. However, in this dimension this series was a lot closer than the 4-1 defeat that Edmonton suffered. This series was a back and forth swing which needed to go the a game 7 to determine who would win the Challenge Cup. Game 7 would need triple overtime to determine who would hoist the Challenge Cup and Tony Pepperoni would be edged in  Blizzard history for scoring that goal and making your S52 champions the Edmonton  Blizzard This would be the final chapter in the SHL before switching over to the new sim engine and this is sweet revenge against Hamilton.

For this offseason everyone will need to adjust their play style with the move over the FHFM 6 sim engine. Our team has had a lot of deliberation on what kind of attributes we want to focus on and how to allocate our TPE. After plenty of discussion I feel that the Edmonton  Blizzard will have a strong roster going into S53. As regards to what I will be doing this off-season I will look to stay at home in Vancouver and avoid travelling due to the outbreak of the Corona virus that is causing pandemonium across the world. But I plan on going to the beautiful Whistler ski resort and try skiing for the first time! This has something that I have been wanting to try for the longest time and I keep putting it off until now. Hopefully my experience as a hockey player will transfer over to skiing but if I end up falling on my face then I hope it goes viral  Blush

I will have to be AGAINST this idea, just because the Super Bowl does this doesn't necessarily mean that the SHL needs to do it as well. Home ice advantage is an extremely important factor for the playoffs and having a full arena of your screaming fans cheering you on and booing the opposing team can boost your team morale while demoralizing the other team. There are other initiatives that the SHL can take part in reducing its carbon footprint such as getting players to ride-share or perhaps ride a bike to the arena instead of driving their fancy cars. Both cities that get to see their team in the finals need to both experience the energy that being in the CC finals will bring to their town.

1. Head GMs JayWhy and Grapehead have been GMing for a while, whereas Co GMs Luketd and DaftRaincloud are newer to management - which team's front office staff (including coaches) do you think will provide a strategic edge (lol as if such a thing exists in STHS) in this series?
2. Manhattan has been rocking a pretty evenly-distributed ice time for forwards (35-33-32) whereas San Francisco is going a bit more top-heavy (40-40-15). Which approach do you think is better for a fierce Challenge Cup series?
3. The Rage and the Pride have, in my opinion at least, two of the best logos in the entire SHL. Which team's logo do you like more and why?
4. What is your favorite player name on either of these two teams and why? (not favorite player/user, just focusing on their player name)
5. Would you rather: (a) a chainsaw lesson with JayWhy, (b) a private Gritty meet-and-greet for you and Luke, (c) an all-you-can-eat grape buffet experience with Grapehead, or (d) an hour session where DaftRaincloud shows you everything from his internet history?
1. Between the  Rage and the  pride front office staff for which will have provide a strategic edge I will have to give the advantage to the San Francisco  pride as they have dominated the regular season getting 69 points (nice) after having lackluster seasons in the past. The front office staff must've something up their sleeves to have the season they have had for S52 and will look to use their strategies to hopefully capture the Challenge Cup.
2. The approach that I think is better for a fierce CC finals would be Manhattan's with the evenly distributed minutes because the playoffs isn't all about the top players but the unlikely heroes who can be show how vital they are to their team when it matters most. For example Alec Martinez in the Stanley Cup finals when he scored the OT game winner against the Rangers to capture the cup for the LA Kings. That moment can happen if we allow players who aren't household names to play more and prove their worth to their team.
3. Between the logos of the  Rage and the  pride I like looking at San Francisco's because it is more bright and and easier to distinguish what it is. While completing this task I confused the Calgary  Dragons with the  Rage logo as they are both red. But with the  pride logo you can easily determine that it is San Francisco's. For this reason that is why i like the  pride logo more.
4. The famous question on which player name is my favourite between the two teams in the Challenge Cup finals. For the S52 finals my favourite player name will have to be Rainbow Dash from the Manhattan  Rage . His name sounds more like a horse's name than an actual hockey player and his name can be very marketable because when people search him up they don't expect to see a hockey player. Also when I think about it who names their child "Rainbow" (unless he wanted to change his first name to Rainbow).
5. From all the intriguing options presented here I will have to go with the private Gritty meet-and-greet with me and Luke. Gritty is one of the most beloved mascots in the NHL and I think it would be an awesome time. The fact that I get to experience this with Luke is special as well because he is one of the players I've always looked up to and wanted to talk more with.

This reality is just one of infinite realities existing alongside this one in parallel. Take us over to one of those realities in which everything is the same but these S52 playoffs have unfolded differently. What happened in that reality's playoffs and who's in the Challenge Cup over there?
In my favorite alternate reality, the unlikely Toronto North Stars, in the middle of their ‘tank’ season ran through the playoffs like a buzzsaw! Instead of being swept by Buffalo, in this reality, they flipped the script and did the sweeping of the Stampede riding the red hot play of Goaltender Harry Carpet who finished the series with two shutouts! Next, the North Stars dispatched the reigning champion Hamilton Steelhawks in 6 and the Manhattan Rage in 5 to set up a finals appearance with the San Francisco Pride. Rookie Bobby Lane, who tied for the team lead with 46 points in the regular season, exploded for 3 goals and 2 assists in the series opening 5-1 win for Toronto. However, the Pride bounced back with 3 straight wins. They seemingly figured Carpet out with 3-2, 4-1, and 7-3 victories in games 2, 3 and 4. Then, with the Stars on the ropes, Carpet found his game again and rattled off shutouts in games 5 and 6 to even the series at 6. Game 7 was a back and forth  affair, with each team getting a goal in each of the first two periods. A scoreless 3rd period sent the game to overtime tied 2-2. Overtime was mostly an uneventful defensive battle as the teams felt each other out. The deciding moment finally came late in the period when rookie Bobby Bobcalf intercepted a pass and buried an unassisted overtime winning and challenge cup clinching goal! Toronto North Stars, unlikely champs!

By now, you're probably familiar with the attributes on FHM, and you likely have some sense of what type of build you're going to be aiming for with your player. What one attribute are you going to focus on most? Of all the attributes in the game, what is your player going to strive to be the absolute best at? Why are you picking that specific attribute above all others?
I’m going to be doing a playmaker forward. Not too different from my current STHS build. Pass first, offensive minded player who can skate and isn’t a total liability defensively. In order to make sure I don’t fall into the jack of all trades/master of none hole, I’m going to focus on being more offensive than I had previously thought with my STHS build. I’ll be focusing heavily on Offensive Read, Getting Open, Passing, and Skating. I would like to be able to put the puck in the net when the situation calls for it as well. Enough to keep defenders honestly and so they can’t just play the pass when I have the puck.

The Most Generic Prompt of All Time - what is your player looking forward to in the offseason? What are they planning on doing? Training? Relaxing? Testing free agency? Whatever it is, let us know!
Rhys is entering his 2nd offseason coming off a mildly disappointing year in which he saw a dip in most statistical categories. A good problem to have, Pritchard will have a short offseason due to his team making Four Star Cup finals. Still, Rhys plans to train hard this offseason, focusing mostly on his offensive game and conditioning. Rhys is also planning to compete in WJC for the 2nd season and is hoping to help guide Team British Isles to a medal as a veteran member of the team. He is not sure if he’ll have enough time to head back home to see his mum in Wales this offseason but if he does, that will be a priority. He also would also like to spend some time getting to know his girlfriend of a few weeks in Anaheim. Needless to say, Rhys was under the impression that his last offseason was busy, but this upcoming one looks like it will be even crazier.

Why?

I am AGAINST this idea and I can’ t for the life of me understand why anyone would be for it. For one thing, you’re depriving fans of the respective teams the opportunity to see their teams’ play in the biggest series of the season. They would have been with their team through thick and thin all year, it doesn’t seem right to deny them the opportunity to cheer their team on in their barn in the biggest games. Secondly, home ice advantage is a big part of the games and why fighting for seeding is important during the regular season. Lastly, if the goal is to reduce the carbon footprint, think of all the extra flights that will be needed to shuttle all of the thousands of fans from both cities who are able to attend back and forth from this neutral site. It’s not just the team flights that need to be considered here.

2. I think the better approach is to get your best players on the ice as much as possible so I like San Francisco’s approach here. Particularly since injuries are not an issue in our sim. This is the biggest series of the season. In my opinion it’s best to have your stars on the ice to decide your fate.

4. Between Rainbow Dash ,Phineas Gold, Cleo Green, Ben McBen, and Nathan Explosion this series features some of the most under the radar joke names in the league. However, I think Backdoor Barnacle takes the cake from the Manhattan Range. For one thing, I have no idea what it means. Maybe it’s a reference to something that I’m not aware of. I’d google it but I think its better left as a mystery

5. I can’t really eat more than a few grapes so my money would be wasted on an all you can eat buffet and I’m not really into viewing people’s internet history. So that just leaves Gritty and Luke or the chainsaw lesson. I’m not a Flyers fan and my in-laws live on some land so I think the chainsaw lesson sounds like it would do me the most good.
