I was on a call with GM Hans Hammersmith over the summer, talking about the past season and the expectations for the upcoming one. He asked me if I would be willing to take on a new role on the ice, leaning away from my pass first mentality and to start shooting the puck more often. I agreed to work on my shooting alp summer and see where it's at come preseason. I got to work with a couple of great coaches back home, and felt like my shot was getting better and better every day. After getting the call to play in the WJC for team USA, I talked to our coaches there about my progress and asked them for any critiques. I worked on a couple things with them, the big one being how to play in front of the net and get those deflections. All the training paid off when I scored a couple of clutch goals in the quarterfinals game. I'm feeling more confident than ever about my game, and expect to see  shots than ever from me this season
