Task 2 (2 TPE)
It's game one of the 4 star cup finals. Fans have started filing into the arena for the upcoming huge game against the Maine Timber. As they make their way to their seats, they notice signs proclaiming it to be a surprise fan appreciation night, and that the fans all have surprises waiting for them on their seats. They file their way in and on their seats, they find some awesome looking commemorative viking helmets for the fans to wear! It is made in the Berserkers colours, and on the back it says "s55 Eastern Conference Champions." The big surprise is that whenever the Berserkers score, the horns on the helmet light up red. A fascinating touch that fans are sure to enjoy for many seasons to come. WC: 129 Task 3 (2 TPE) We're comparing the rookies from the s56 draft class in this years 4 cup finals! Maine has one rookie in Calvin Hobbes while Newfoundland has 2 rookies coming in. From Maine we have Calvin Hobbes. In the regular season, Hobbes finished with 4 goals and 11 assists in 15 games and was a -3 while averaging 9:18 in icetime, not bad for his rookie season. in the Playoffs Hobbes currently sits at 2 goals and 3 assists while +2 in 16 games. From Newfoundland, Jonas Kahnwald finished with 6 goals, 9 assists and a +19 rating and Vaseline Podcalzone had had 2 goals and 6 assists with a +2 rating during the regular season. In the playoffs, Kahnwald currently has 3 assists and is a +9 in 9 games while Podcalzone has 2 assists and an even +/- rating. WC: 139 Task 8 (3 TPE) My first season in the SMJHL was a very fun one. I very much enjoyed getting to know all my teammates in Newfoundland and learning my way around the sight. Even doing all the point tasks and media articles brought me some joy. For Jonas, I think he did really well in his first season. I was hoping that I could build him into a player that would not be an anchor to such a strong Newfoundland team that would be gunning for a championship, and he definitely was not! I think he could have taken less penalties, but overall looking at the advanced stats, the team actually performed slightly better with him on the ice than with him off. Now whether that may have something to do with being such a deep team, so playing with better players against weaker opposition, who knows. But 6 goals to lead all Newfoundland defence in goals, and another 9 assists while playing on the 3rd pairing and virtually no special teams time is very good. He also led all rookies in +/-, which while being a not very important stat is impressive nontheless. I was hoping he would hit 20 points but I also realize how difficult that would be for a rookie defenceman to do. 15 points is still pretty good. Next season Jonas aims for the stars again, hoping to reach 25 points. WC: 232 Task 11 (3 TPE) Jonas will be spending part of his off-season at the World Junior Championships, as he recently received the call that he had been selected for the DACH team! Very excited to compete in his first international tournament and he is hoping to have a good showing there and hopefully bring home a medal of some colour. The team is very young and has some inexperience further down the lineup but Jonas believes that they can still perform well. I will also be prepping his 350 build for the start of next season, hopefully getting some test sims in and seeing what works best for next season. Not much is expected to change in his situation/playtime, as Jonas will still be behind a very strong defence in Newfoundland, but there may still be some added responsibilities, such as more opportunities on the powerplay perhaps. Also will have to do some media and bring in some moneyy, looking to take advantage of the 2x draft bonus. WC: 165 Task 12 (3 TPE) Next on our pre-draft scout report, we will be looking at Newfoundland Berserkers rookie defenceman Jonas Kahnwald. Drafted 15th overall in the s55 SMJHL draft, the rookie put up a very good 15 points in his rookie season, leading all Newfoundland defencemen in goals with 6. He also led all rookies in +/- this season with a rating of +19. Jonas has shown to be prolific in the offensive zone this season, often joining the rush and creating chances and havoc in the offensive zone. He is one of, if not the marquee offensive defencemen in the upcoming draft. While he did mention that he wants to be good at both ends of the ice, he certainly could do with some more work on his defensive game. While not terrible, it was decidedly unimpressive, although his giveaway to takeaway ratio was very good, finishing the season with 6 giveaways and 12 takeaways. His defensive game saw an improvement as he developed towards the end of the season, and word is he is looking forward to developing his defensive game and also his physical attributes for the start of next season. He is currently ranked 2nd amongst all rookies in TPE, so don't be surprised to see Kahnwald snatched in the first round of the upcoming draft. WC: 215 Task 16 (3 TPE) Verification word: Wheeler |
