While she didn't hit any of the milestones for the season (which was a little disappointing from a personal perspective), I think she still had a worthwhile impact over the 50 games she played on the blue line. She had the 7th most takeaways for the Whalers, and also logged 36 hits and blocked 35 shots. Burke also had an impact on the offensive side of the puck, notching 4 goals and 9 assists on her resume, finishing the regular season with 13 points. In round one of the playoffs against the St. Louis Scarecrows, Burke set the tone for the sweep that was to come by scoring the first goal for the Whalers in the first game. Her performance during the rest of playoffs could have been better, but it was an exciting moment nonetheless. Going forward as Burke continues to develop, I hope she can nail some of those milestones and really prove her worth to the team in more ways than one. 179 words Code: Task #9 - 2 TPE It's laughable to think anyone would choose timber-making lumberjacks over a group of Vikings. For one, Vikings are actual trained warriors with proper weapons who specialize in raids and strive to exploit others' weaknesses and find glory in battle. Let's say for a moment that lumberjacks have a chance, though. Vikings are also lumberjacks - where do you think they got the wood to build all of those amazing boats, sculptures, and cool wagons and stuff? If I had to pick between a Viking that has experience with a sharp axe but knows how to use it on more than just wood, and a normal lumberjack who probably hasn't had to wield an axe outside of the woods, I would definitely still pick the Viking to win. 124 words Code: Task #11 - 3 TPE It was exciting for Sarah Burke to make it into the playoffs in her debut season with the SMJHL. Getting blown out in the second round was a little bit of a letdown in some ways, but almost a relief in others. It was a whirlwhind of a rookie season with a lot of ups and downs, so she was really looking forward to getting some alone time to herself to reflect on things - especially before the excitement around the SHL draft really vamps up. While she's spent a fair amount of time talking to some prospective teams for the big league and getting some more training in, she has also taken several opportunities in the off season to just get to know Vancouver and British Columbia overall a little bit better. Some of the highlights in her relaxing off-season so far include a visit to the Butchart Gardens, going on a whale watching tour, and spending some time in the mountains out near Whistler. 165 words Code: Task #16 - Finals Trivia - 3 TPE (1 for participation, 0.5 for each correct response.
