I completely disagree, every draftee should be given a few seasons to prove himself, even if his chances of suceeding are slim. If anything we should encourage every draftee getting a standard three-season deal instead of those short one or two-season ones that are aimed at squeezing the last bit of value out of the cap. This also gives GMs and incentive to try to keep their prospects happy instead of just dropping them early on when there is a dip in activity or, even worse, not even making a pick even when there are still people on the board who logged in recently.
