1. From reaching the $6000 goal for COTA Charity, write 3 words on why the SHL is the best (3 TPE)
Because of Ham 3. If real life versions of all 18 SHL team logos were entered into a fight, which would come out victorious and why? Which would be the first eliminated? (3 TPE) A fight between all the logos would be interesting, but my vote for the winner would be the Inferno. It would be very very difficult between the Inferno and the North Stars, but since the Inferno seems to be based on a phoenix, which is known for its ability to resurrect, it seems like a no brainer. Other strong teams would be the Aurora due to being a light anomaly and the Specters for being ghosts and therefore being able to survive after death. In terms of teams that would be the weakest, the Syndicate and Renegades came to mind as they are just a group of humans, but the weakest one by far is the Barracuda. Fish are not exactly threatening, and considering all four human based teams (Syndicate, Renegades, Monarchs, and Argonauts) all have an advantage over fish, as well as teams like the Pride, Platoon, and Steelhawks who are animals higher up on the food chain, the Barracuda are an easy choice for the weakest team in this logo deathmatch. 173 Words 5. Which SHL or SMJHL team was the best team to not make the finals this season and why? (2 TPE) I think the obvious answer to this question is the Newfoundland Berserkers. They had a very strong team top to bottom, with a 425 and a 350 goalie tandem, all 6 defenseman at either 350 or 425, and only two rookie forwards surrounded by capped players. While sim luck was not always on Newfoundland’s side during the season, they still won what was arguably the most competitive division in the SMJHL. They beat Maine in a very competitive six game series before losing to an inactive Kelowna team. Newfoundland had bad luck all season and it came back to bite them right before the finals, a place the Berserkers deserved to be in. 113 Words 6. What's your prediction for this season's IIHF tournament? Which teams do you expect to do well (or not well)? Which players? (3 TPE) Looking at international play, the heavy favorites heading into the tournament are Canada, the United States, and Great Britain. Canada are the defending champions and are consistently stacked top to botton. The United States had a disappointing tournament last season, but as the second deepest team they are looking to rebound in a big way. Great Britain is a bit smaller of a nation but Bromanov has done an excellent job of building his team and is looking at pushing for the gold yet again. As the Federation Head of Japan, I think we will get out of the Round Robin and into the knockout rounds, but I don’t see us winning a medal this year. In terms of which players I expect to do well, I will lean on some great Japanese players here, namely Monkey D. Luffy, Martijn Westbroek, Disisde Dayudie, and my fellow Federation Head Ryuuji Minamino. Overall it’s going to be a great tournament, and I expect Canada will come out on top once again. 169 Words 15. CW TRIVIA, 3 TPE max - 1 TPE for participation, 0.5 TPE for each correct answer.
