Which SHL or SMJHL team was the best team to not make the finals this season and why?

I mean, this has to be fairly self-evident in that the Hamilton Steelhawks did not make the finals. I think a lot of people penciled them in for the finals - as they should, being that Hamilton has shown that they can consistently perform as a team, winning the President’s Trophy again this year. They have a fairly stacked team, and they had pretty good success with it in the regular season. Texas was just hotter during the playoffs, and Kavanagh managed to out-goalie Jobin as the two teams are fairly similar in terms of overall TPE. This shows you how a hot goalie can steal a series, and a cold one can cost you.

What's your prediction for this season's IIHF tournament? Which teams do you expect to do well (or not well)? Which players?

I think the usual suspects will do well in the IIHF – Canada, Great Britain, USA and Sweden. These teams have shown that they have the talent to carry them far, but with a couple of new managers for Sweden and Canada, we will see how that affects their success in the tournament. Austria and Latvia have managed to get a batch of new talent, so I would not be surprised if they will have a couple of seasons of rebuilding before they can really threaten. I think players that did well in the season – Bobby Sharp, Karl Krashwagen, Adam Barron, Augustus Wang, Elijah Jones – will also do well in the tournament, with the addition of some dark horses like Cal Labovitch who are seeing increased ice time due to their team’s player lineup. All-in-all I don’t expect anything too different, but this is FHM after all and you never really know what’s going to happen. It would be nice to have another country win the gold other than Canada or Great Britain.

If worst came to worst and the situation were dire....... you need nutrition....... you must consume your peers. If you had to eat another SHL player, who would you eat and why? (sorry in advance Julio)

I would start with maybe Majestik Moose @SchwarzNarr ... moose steak when prepared properly is quite delicious. Seasoned with some salt and pepper, grilled over an open fire using the reverse sear method. But before that, I would have an appetizer of penguin wings, the Adelie de Pengu @WithTheMoose kind. This would be a delicacy, something small to whet my appetite. Perhaps deep fried, and tossed with some honey garlic. If I was still hungry then I would go for more seafood, a Robot Sunfish @yonggarius might be a good choice but I would have to pick out the electronics before digging in. There are so many choices to eat in the SHL!
