What's your prediction for this season's IIHF tournament? Which teams do you expect to do well (or not well)? Which players?

The big dogs are gunna eat so it's no shocker I have the usual suspects at the top of each pool. USA, Canada and Great Britain have established themselves as IIHF powerhouses with Sweden taking big strides to join them. At the other end it hurts to see Latvia being out performing by even the most recent expansion countries. Just not a lot of Latvian users any more I suppose. My darkhorse would have to be my boys team Norway. I don't think we're ready to sit at the big kids table yet, but we have a nice blend of solid veterans and promising youth which should open a window here soon for us to compete before the veterans retire. Player wise my Blizzard boys will dominate again. Tokolosh is fresh off a tournament leading 17 point performance last IIHF round robin and the year before that it was Jon Forty-One with 21. They both play for dominant squads in USA and Great Britain respectively so I predict they'll put up nice numbers again in the S59 tournament.

a. Which of these teams has stronger offensive firepower?

b. This is Texas’s first cup appearance since winning it in S36, while Buffalo is recovering from 2 recent final losses to Hamilton. Which team will have a bigger chip on their shoulder entering the finals.

c. Which of these two teams' brandings do you prefer? Take into account colors, logo, name, location, and anything else you consider relevant.

d. Would you rather have to spend a long weekend hanging out in Dallas or Buffalo? What would you do?

A. There are 3 Buffalo Stampede players on the regular season point leaderboard ahead of the first Texas Renegade player so on that alone I'll give the edge to them. TPE wise the two are close, but Buffalo's weapons seem to have done a better job of converting, or at least their big guns do. If the big guns are rolling everything else is just gravy.
B. I like to think Texas is playing with house money here. No one, or at best very few, expected them to dispatch the reigning champion Hamilton Steelhawks so while they naturally want to win and cap off the amazing post-season it would still be a success if the lost. Buffalo meanwhile would be real chapped to have come so close 3 years in a row and lose in the finals. It's the big "what if" and it's definitely on some peoples mind.
C. Hard not to like the Stampede. Green and gold go well together, the circular logo is conservative, but never a bad choice. The best part is that in addition to being a team name it's also a fun play on words since Buffalo's have been known to stampede. I also have a bit of a soft spot for teams that pull off the non-plural branding.
D. No knock on Buffalo (ok maybe perhaps a small one) but as a Canadian I'd hardly call a trip to Buffalo a worthwhile vacation. Pretty much the same as far as I understand it. Dallas on the other hand sounds like a wonderful excursion. The heat, food and overall vibe are a stark contrast to my igloo and would be most welcoming.
