S61 SMJHL Championship Week
#15
(This post was last modified: 10-13-2021, 12:54 AM by FourFour.)

Task #1 - 3 TPE
If you weren't playing for your current team, which team would you most like to be playing for in the playoffs. Explain why you chose that team and how you think you'd slot into their roster. Would your player make a big impact on the team? Would you improve their chances of winning a cup?
Requirements: 150+ words.

If I were not a member of the Detroit Falcons I think the team I would like to most be playing for would be the Vancouver Whalers. When I first came into the league back in S13 (oldie), I was drafted by the Whalers organization and it was a team that continued to support their players no matter what and helped me really learn the ropes of the league and how to build a solid player and ultimately understand the sim so I could be successful in the future. With the broad assumption that 50 seasons later the team is still fostering this culture I believe it would be a cool one to rejoin. On the ice they also have a phenomenal team that constantly competes for titles. Playing alongside guys like Alexis Saint-Michel would be amazing as he is someone I have based my build after. I think that I would make a fairly big impact on the team as I kept improving through the season and I kept getting better in the sim as the season progressed so I would fit into the roster well and help their chances of winning a cup.

Task #3 - 2 TPE
Your team is giving back to their supporters by holding a fan appreciation day for one of their games, where the team will hand out a special commemorative item to show thanks for their continued support of the franchise. You have been tasked to design the product to be given out to the attendees (can be a rally towel, foam finger, bobble head, etc.)
Requirements:
- WRITTEN: Write a 100 word blurb about the item, including details on during which game was / will be given out.

Welcome to the Detroit Falcons S63 Home Opener, to all fans in attendance we will be giving you a commemorative bobblehead featuring our two top rookies from last year Oskar Von Walther and Akashi SixNine celebrating Walther’s rookie leading 40th point in their last game of the season in S62. This bobblehead also provides signatures from both players underneath the heads and fragments of their jerseys from the game. The Detroit Home Opener will be in November 2021, and most likely against their rivals the St. Louis Scarecrows so it will be a barn burner everyone should come and check out. Make sure to be there quick and early to get them because only the first 1,000 fans will receive these amazing materials.

Task #5 - 3 TPE
Professional hockey players are among the luckiest members of a community, but not everyone is given the same opportunities. As such, many players are expected to give back to the community by volunteering their time and energy off the ice with various charitable organizations. Either write about a charity or event that your player helped out with, or create a flyer or invitation for your event, including team logo, a photo of your player render, and the charity/charities being supported by the event.
Requirements:
WRITTEN: 150+ words
GRAPHIC: Include team logo, a photo of your player render, and the charity/charities being supported by the event

As a man following many charities across the world and coming from a big philanthropist background, Akashi Sixnine made sure during the season to give back to the community as much as possible, following in the footsteps of his father and uncles who had played in the league before who preached giving back to the community as a focus in their careers. SixNine went back up to Canada and gave back to Kids Up Front, a charity which gives children the opportunity to go and see sporting events across a variety of sports. SixNine usually gives back to this charity but this season he wanted to expand its reach and bring it to the city of Detroit, allowing children who were underprivileged and low-income families experience the varying entertainment in their city. This partnership consisted of SixNine donating a portion of his salary to purchasing nice tickets to Lions, Red Wings, Tigers and Falcons games during the season and ensuring a family would be able to enjoy the talent in their city and become more engaged with the city.

Task #6 - 3 TPE
Make a dream team of players from the two teams in the four star cup finals (3F, 2D, 1G), and give a small explanation for each pick. Alternatively, make a graphic displaying your dream team.
Requirements:
WRITTEN: 150+ words
GRAPHIC: Include player renders and team logos

LW – Lev Lebedev – Lev is a very fancy passer on the ice and would be the ultimate playmaker against any team he would play. He can also play well on the PP and be a quarterback and ease some of the pressure off the defenseman. This would also help make the PP more dynamic and harder to stop

RW – Alexis Saint-Michel – Once a very talented player, Saint-Michel took a step back this season but has the ability to be a gamechanger for any team. His physical player is very vital to a top line as he can forecheck the hell out of any team and cause turnovers, alongside his puck skills Saint-Michel has the ability to do it all and put the puck in the net or dish it over to a teammate for an easy tap-in

C – Robert Black– The first Newfoundland player here, but this was a very eays pick. The league leader this season in assists and just a perennial talent in the league. He and the other two wingers would establish a very strong chemistry over the seasons. While he is a pass-first player, Black would still provide that dynamic element to the team as the Whalers cycle the puck in the opponent’s zone. He also has a strong FO% which will be crucial in all aspects of the game

LD – Mikko Rashford – A rookie defenseman that really figured out how to turn on the jets late in the season, Rashford was a very strong performer this entire season and their upside is unlimited at this point. They really took another step through the first few rounds of the playoffs and should be a solid defenseman for this squad

RD – Jannik Nordstern – Going back to the Berserkers, another strong defenseman with playmaking ability that will help the team really move the puck up the ice and out of their own zone. They also put up a whopping +43 in the reg. seasons which should bode well for any team

G – Olof Karsikko – This man was a sikko in ent all season leading the league in shutouts and wins and just honestly a brick wall behind this already stellar d-core.

Task #9 - 2 TPE
Which series of these playoffs up until the finals has been the best / most thrilling and why? Write a short recap of which series you personally enjoyed the best and talk about the key points of the series, along with what ultimately led to the final result of it.
Requirements: 100+ words.

Easily the only 7-game series of the entire playoffs in Round 1; the Great Falls Grizzlies and the St. Louis Scarecrows. First game started out with a barn burner 12 goal game which saw the GFG come out winning 7-5, and then somehow in game 2 the defense turned on the brakes and it was a low scoring 2-1 affair. St. Louis even ended up going up 3-1 in the series ready to close it out before the team from Great Falls took Game 5 in OT, Game 6 by one goal and then turned on the jets and embarrassed St. Louis 5-0 in game 7. Since most of the other series ended before Game 5 this one was a really good back and forth one that deserved a documentary about it.
