A player very first Draft in professional hockey is always a very special day and once that carries both a lot of anticipation and excitmenet but also uncertainty and nervousness. So when you finally end up hearing your name called then it is always a great relief to be able to go do a team that has shown that they want and appreciate you and if it was one that you also had your eyes on before the Draft, then even better. Luckily that was the case for Evan Winter, who ended up being drafted by the Colorado Raptors in the second half of the first round, the team that he has some family connections to as his father had also played there way back when he started his career in Juniors. So when Evan entered the locker room for the first time, he wasn't just greeted by a wave of warm hugs and handshakes, but also a picture of his dad during his own junior days which, aside from the terrible haircut by todays standards, looked remarkably alike. But ultimately the GMs and Coaches made it clear in their first talk with Evan that they want him to forget about this family connection as quickly as possibly so that he can start forming his own legacy without any extra expectations or unnecessary pressure so this is exactly what he is planning to do...
