The league was very, very different, obviously just a few teams, no sim testing+tactics cheating, the good ole days before Hamilton decided to ruin everything. Rivalries actually meant something then, too. There were legit player rivalries like Alex Reay vs Sergei Karpotsov, there was actual media calling out opponents, because this was before the safe space era that was brought on by the New England Softpack, and the arrival of Eggy in HO. Everyone was chill, didn’t take offense to every little thing and there was no gang justice going on. Truly, the good ole days. So yes, players were smoking on the ice, delivering cheap shots like they were candy and shotgunning PBR during intermissions. Things people today would literally cry about and attempt to ruin someone’s online life. Getting your player good wasn’t such a grind, we literally had another league for that, the VHL.Take me back.
