Keeping in the spirit of the tough season that the Kraken have had to go through, Derek Martin knows that a tough offseason awaits. Having had to fill in at the center position after the trade deadline due to the departure of beloved teammate Alexi Kettu, it is now expected of him to be able to transition full time to this position. That being said, although he showed glimpes of brilliance, mainly with a respectable two-way performance and a decent enough faceoff win percentage, he knows full well that this is not enough if you expect to be a contender for the 4 star cup. His work will be twofold, both on and off the ice, in conditioning and getting faster and stronger, as well as improving his faceoff abilities and offensive and defensive reads in order to provide a steadfast presence for his dynamic duo winger, Liam Logger, and for the rest of the Carolina squad.
