I personally LOVE fighting in hockey. I think it sets a bad example for kids, puts players at risk, and is a huge liability issue for players and teams alike, but it adds another wrinkle to the game that we don't see in most other mainstream sports. To see players reacting to the game and lashing out or dropping the gloves to try to build some hype and momentum for their team is awesome. Instances that would be cause for a fight are excessive showboating, trash talk before the game in the media, cheap shots against a teammate, or simply a matchup of two of the most badass players in the league trying to see who can come out on top. The unbridled adrenaline rush when you're sitting in the stands and see two players drop the gloves is incredible. It makes you forget about the hockey game for a minute and enjoy the spectacle that is in-game fighting.
